  Hey guys. I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv6-2155dx with a Intel Centrino Wireless - N 1000 wifi card. The card was to die for a long time now and about to go off completely. All other PCs and phones connect properly to the internet here, except that this laptop connects, but drops to around every 15 minutes, limited connectivity or so and I have to turn off the wifi and then turn it back on to operate for another 15 minutes. Its incredibly annoying and I need help to make sure that I have buy the correct replacement so that it will work. Here is the info I have:

  The maintenance manual does not list a Centrino Wireless - N 1000 card. You must not only the correct chip, but he must have a part number of HP.   You must contact the manufacturer of your computer and ordering a set of discs if you do not have or cannot create from your computer. You may also be able to restore your computer using a special hidden part of the hard drive.  The best way to find out what your options would be to check the documentation for the computer, or the support web site.

  Before going any further - run a diagnostic extended hard disk (f12 at startup to join Dell diagnostics).  A failed hard drive is quite possible.

  If the drive passes the scope - and not only the flesh to live - diagnostic, which shows of BONE on the product key label (in the battery compartment)?  It may be the system comes with 7, but has been improved to 8.

  At this point, you can take advantage of the upgrade of WIndows 10 - it's free and you can get the Microsoft installation media.  Just check the label of the product key so that you get the right version (it is unlikely that this system is delivered with 7 Pro - House is on the label, you should just Windows 10 (not Pro).)  Your product key will work to install Windows 10 on the system.

  All this is based on a faulty hard drive.

  If the system shuts down during the diagnostic tests, you can have an overheating problem (is the system running hot?-if so, remove the heat sink assemblies dust).  If it is not hot but switched off, you probably have a bad mother.

  Hi, I had this problem and others here did also.  The fix for me ran the battery all the way down so that the CMOS to reset.  One of the threads detailing this difficulty is here.  Once you get the tablet to the top, you can update for the last EFI firmware and that should hopefully prevent it from happening again.

  I want to upgrade my laptop Hp HDD to the SSD. Very successful on the 2 HP desktops. But not a great success on the laptop. Windows does not start with the installed SSD. HP does not support or encourage the laptop processor upgrades after the point of sale for reasons that should be obvious. They would sell you rather a new laptop and there is no increase for HP in your opening of the casing of the laptop.

Logically, there is no reason that a CPU that runs on a version of the same motherboard with the dedicated video would work also on them with onboard video. It is not always logical, however. I also see that your motherboard is not in the manual I posted. I made some of these updates and some like to think that I got a seat of the pants for her feeling and I'm going to go out on a limb and say the i5 - 580 M will probably work. No guarantees, but I'm confident about 80 percent.

  My hard drive recently started to crash my laptop and after a few searches using the diagnostics in the bios, I realized that it was defective. I thought I was lucky cause I made a recovery from USB, however, I did after my PC upgraded to Windows factory installed Windows 8 8.1! The upgrade was in a day or two after, I started to use my laptop and I do not do the recovery disk before upgrading!
  Now that I have installed my new HD and USB to load Windows 8.1, Windows asks me to activate Windows! Apparently if you install 8.1 Windows from a recovery disk on a PC provided with Windows 8, you need to activate it!
  So, the answer is that I somehow instal Windows 8 on my laptop on the new hard drive and then upgrade to Windows 8.1! Apparently, if you make a recovery 8.1 on a PC USB disk that has been upgraded from Win8, then a version of win8 is included on the DISC of RECOVERY USB. I can't find any way to install Win8 on my new drive hard using the recovery USB disk that I created after I updated my PC! There is no help anywhere about this problem, a nice person can you please help?
  I still have my original hard drive with partition recovery still on it, and although this hard drive crash the laptop regularly, I still might be able to make some kind of recovery USB or DVD using, if only someone could kindly help me to do so.
  I have to install two hard drives in laptop but the cable and caddy to do this is VERY expensive here in the United Kingdom and it will take a few weeks to get from the United States. Despite this, I really don't know what to do even if I had two drives connected to the laptop at the same time!

  Just as an update...
  If you buy a PC with an operating system already installed on it and it upgrades before making a recovery media, you can recover to the upgraded operating system because windows will ask you for the key. If like me, you did not receive a key, just the operating system on a hard disk partition, and if that hard drive crashes, you're completely banjaxed! I bought my laptop HP in the United States, the United Kingdom HP, although very useful, would not give me a recovery media for my PC because it was American and HP in the United States would not be me send them because they are not allowed to send overseas. In the end, I had to call Microsoft and literally had this were begging for almost 2 hours, and after making me literally try every little thing that I had already tried several times by myself, they basically told me that I had to buy a key that would cost me about £200 for Windows complete 10! Finally, after a lot of explanations, they really gave me 'once only' keys for win10, so I now have a fully functional win10 BONE, but if something should go wrong again, I have to pay to buy a new. Fair enough, I suppose, a little warning to those of you who bought a computer laptop win 8 and immediately improved to win8.1, they will say that win 8 will appear on your media recovery as well as 8.1, but my media was only 8.1 victory! Worthless, unless you have a fully functional key!
