  It doesn't matter how cut you it, Visual files are created in rectangular shapes.  With Flash you can usually make the background transparent when you place it in a web page by adjusting the embed code (wmode = "transparent" in the settings value), but it will always occupy a rectangular region despite not seeing the rectangle.
