  I would like to move a file from one folder to another one of Lightroom 3 (do not discuss why). I searched the net but couldn't find the answer (maybe I missed it). When I click on a photo in the grid view and then drag and drop this file into another folder in the folder Panel (for the move), a small sign more (copy) appears and a copy of the file is placed in the second folder. If I try to delete the photo in the original folder (for the move), two copies of the file are removed. I tried pressing all kinds of keys on the imac but unable to get the move to work. Ideally, I would like to move a group of pictures but can not move even one. Does anyone know how to move files between folders in Lightroom 3?

  Try to select the pictures, right click on the folder target and choosing "move selected Photos to this folder.

  Here are the steps to change the ownership and permissions of files and folders:

  1. right click on the file or folder, click Properties, and then click the Security tab.

  2. click on advanced and then click the owner tab.

  3. click on edit and then do one of the following:

  ·    To change the owner to a user or group that is not listed, click other users and groups, and in the box type
  the object name to select (examples), type the name of the user or group, and then click OK.

  ·    To change the owner to a user or a group is listed in the change owner to box, click the new owner.

  4. If you want to take ownership of the contents of the folder, select the replace the owner of sub containers and objects check box.

  5. click OK and then click Yes when you receive the following message is displayed:

  You are not allowed to read the contents of directory folder name. You want to replace the directory
  permissions with permissions granting you full control?

  All permissions will be replaced if you click Yes.

  Note folder_name is the name of the folder you want to take charge.

  6. click on OK and then reapply the permissions and security settings that you want for the folder and its contents.

  Additional considerations

  7· An administrator can take ownership of any file on the computer.

  8· Affecting the ownership of a file or a folder might require that raise you your permissions using user access control

  I was able to put shortcuts to folders in the menu send to, so when I right click on a file I can select them via the menu send to and have it sent.

  Instead of copy, I would like to have it moved to, but I don't know how to change the default behavior.

  It's an easy registry hack, I guess. Or any way is fine for me, if you know it please you can share?

  There is no way to change this. It will be always copy not move.  If you want to move, drag the file or copy and paste.

What should I do to solve this problem: too often, when I try to delete, rename or move a file/s or folder/s so on my desktop, documents, library, or anywhere with a typical, it should create a custom folder, I get an error message telling me that I can not remove this file or folder because it is open in another program. It drives me crazy because I don't know what the heck, or when the devil this folder doesn't exist anywhere else on my laptop. I tried to look for programs and files to determine if there are duplicate areas where the file can share with another path, but nothing. I also looked at the properties of the file/folder, but it does show me nothing relevant, even if I uncheck the read-only box. I am the only user/administrator of my laptop. I created a profile of the privileged administrator I use only, nothing else. I run a home network with 5 computers and treat various problems in the past, but this problem started recently, after I upgraded my network of Windstream modem 4220 + linksys wrt600n to Windstream wireless all-in-one router. The new router was a piece of * so I've not unhooked it and reiinstalled my original Windstream modem 4220 + linksys wrt600n devices. I had a few problems, but everything is now back to how it was. I can only think that this may have something to do with the share on the network? Correct me if I'm wrong (please), but there seems to be too many titles listed under users? It's whats listed under users: administrator, Classic .NET AppPool, default, default AppPool, (my username) and Public. In any case, please help % @#! I think I may be fubar had my network configuration after uninstallation and reinstallation of the windstream (local phone/internet provider) facilities and added a printer wireless capability (which does not). and may have caused the problem that I can't delete, rename or move files or folders in another program, that I can't find?   When you have the problem that happens, open the Task Manager.
  Then, you can view the processes that are open and see if the program or file is open by another process. If so, then select end task.
  Then return to Windows Explorer and see if you can remove the file now.

  You may also be able to delete the file in Mode without failure.
  To access Safe Mode:
  (a) restart your computer and start pressing F8 on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
  (b) select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and press ENTER.

  3. Select the file that you want to move.

  4. click on the icon 'Move' at the top.

I need to deceive Lightroom by downloading by adding new files into folders and then synchronize these folders. But lately this work around is not no longer works. Is the program, forcing me to upgrade? Can I continue to use this version. I need to reset something. Please help because it is very frustrating.

  PDF, GIF and BMP are not the types of files supported for Lightroom.

  However, there is a plugin available that will allow you at least these files from the catalog, it is called Anyfile: any Lightroom Plugin file

  After you connect to http://files.acrobat.com, you can click on the button "New folder" from the upper right to create a folder.

  

  Mark the check boxes beside the files you want to put in the folder, then click the button "move files".

  Use the Finder on Mac. Drag and drop. Copy and paste. Your choice. The changes will be synchronized to iCloud by car.

  iCloud.com has a limited feature set largely. It of a convenience thing and does all the file management features in iCloud drive.

  In the Explorer > libraries > photos you will find may be easier to click on the drop down arrow in the high rt in the window and arrange by list

  You will then see the files from there, you drag the file into the required folder

  Or you rt click on the file and choose "move to folder".

  I just bought a new Inspiron desktop computer that has Windows 7 on it. Many old computer files have been corrupted, however, I was able to save many audio, video, Real Player files, PDF and photo.  I exported my FireFox bookmarks to HTML for the external hard drive.

  I can't understand how to transfer all the information from my external hard drive to the new computer with Windows 7. My level of computer knowledge is advanced beginner. I'm sorry to ask such a simple question I minor dyslexia. However the video, I look at all speaks to move from one computer to another and downloading transfer program.

  Also, I can't put music in my music files, however, once I know how to transfer to my new Win 7 computer where would I put my Real Player downloads, Favorites Fire Fox, so they find themselves in the right place. I tried the Itunes file to transfer from the external hard drive to the new computer where I had downloaded Itunes and it did not work.

  You can use the copy / paste command to copy your files from the external hard drive to the folders such as Documents, pictures, videos in Windows 7.

  When you copy and paste a file, you make a copy of the original file that you can then modify independently of the original file. If you copy and paste a file to a different location on your computer, it's a good idea to give it a different name, so that you'll remember which file is new and which file is the original.

  To copy and paste a file:

  1. Open the location that contains the file you want to copy.

  2. Right click on the file and then click on copy.

  3. Open the location where you want to store the copy.

  4. Right-click on an empty space within the location and then click on paste. The copy of the original file is now stored in the new location.

  5. Select multiple files or folders

     There are several ways to select multiple files or folders.

     • To select a consecutive group of files or folders, click the first item, press on and hold down the SHIFT key and then click the last item.

     • To select multiple files or folders that are near each other, drag the mouse pointer to create a selection around the outside of all the items you want to include.

     • To select nonconsecutive files and folders, press on and hold down the CTRL key and then click each item you want to select.

     • To select all files or folders in a window, the tool bar, click on organize, and then click Select all. If you want to exclude one or more items of your choice, press on and hold down the Ctrl key and then click on the items.

  Anyone installed a utility, unless LR5 is one such utility.  The Toshiba drive was bought as compatible with Mac/PC.  What I didn't know, is that it was read only for Mac.

  I bought Paragon NTFS for Mac 14 earlier today at the Apple Support suggestion, SR. Tech.  It works well.  Problem solved.
