  I find myself in an uncomfortable situation.

  For some reason, it seems that an essential file for Photoshop organizer has been removed. I suspect a disk cleanup utility for being a bit overzealous. Anyway, the damage is done.

  When I try to start organizing, I get a message telling me that it cannot begin to cause 'DetectionUtils.dll' cannot be found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. From the editor is not a problem however.

  I was trying to reinstall Photoshop Elements, but when I run the setup the only option I have is uninstall Photoshop as the installer, just as Windows thinks that Photoshop is still installed on my computer.

  My catalog is huge: I have tagged 26 000 + pictures and videos. I don't want to lose him. Of course, I have backups, but I want to go back into Photoshop.

  So, what are my options? How I can manage to get Photoshop 8.0 work again with my catalog?

  Uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't change or interfere with your catalog somehow. It will be there after the re - install.

  Hi Jeff and Michael.  I did a clean install of Windows 7 without migrating settings.  I got my SSD partitioned with all the data files on d:, so I installed a second SSD and them everything copied to the new drive and renamed readers then a new become d:.

  I did it for all the space available on the first SSD to allow plenty of space to install Windows 7.

  Apparently, I could launch Photoshop 7.0 in windows XP of Windows 7 mode, but for this, according to MS, my processor PC must have the capabilities of virtualization (HAV) hardware-assisted .  MS has a havdetectiontool.exe tool to download to test, I did it and my PC processor is unfortunately not up to it, so no Photoshop 7.0 on this one.
