How to retrieve a large vmdk file in ESXi?

Hello

I desperately need help. I have a server with ESXi. One of the virtual machines in this server had a top serving our customers mail server. We had to move this mail server to a different location. When I tried to re - create the virtual machine with the same e-mail server (for testing purposes) all of a sudden, the big vmdk file disappeared. Of course, when I try to load the machine now, it gives an error "file not found".

I read on other pages on how to recreate the vmdk file, but they were all on ESX and has not worked for me. The best method was present.

Please can someone help me on how I can get the big vmdk file?

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards

OK... explaining:

A VMDK file is the union between a VMNAME.vmdk header file and a file VMNAME - flat hard. The datastore browser, when you have both, they appear as one, as on the second screenshot.

The virtual machine always point to the VMNAME.vmdk file, which points to the VMNAME - flat hard, which really contains the data. You will never see the dish once that these two files are located on the data store, but sometimes people delete it and I was suggesting that it may have happened to you.

Hard 00000files are instant. They are the changes on the original flat file logs, but if you don't have it you can't rebuild since the change to connect because you do not have the original data map.

You may need to call a company to recover files from disks, or look for some tools which does this in VMFS volumes - I don't know everything, since VMFS is too simple and not to keep track of deleted files unless you take a snapshot of the file system in some time.

If you do not have backups and can produce the VMDK or the flar. VMDK no matter where, there is nothing more I can do to help you. Sorry about that

Anyone know how I can install large binary data to BlackBerry files during the installation of an application?

My application needs a size of 8 MB of the data file.

I tried to add the file in my BlackBerry project in the Eclipse environment.

But the compiler could not generate an executable file with the following message.

«Unrecoverable internal error: java.lang.NullPointerException.» CAP run for the project xxxx»

So, I tested with a small binary file. This time, the compiler generated a cod file. but the javaloader to load the application with this message.

"Error: file is not a valid Java code file.

Is it possible to include large binary data files in the cod file?

And what is the best practice to deal with such a large data files?

I hope to get a useful answer to my question.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Kim.

I finally managed to include the large data file in library projects.

I have divided the data file in 2 separate files and then each file added to library projects.

Each project the library has about 4 MB of the data file.

So I have to install 3 .cod files.

But in any case, it works fine. And I think that there will not be any problem because I use library projects only the first time.

  • How to make a large texture file from a .png file small?

    Hello: Level: intermediate/new > OS: Windows 7 64-bit > Ps: Cs6

I learned about Textures and I was playing with different and so, I came across a great site with a lot of Texture files for download... http://subtlepatterns.com/paper-1/

Well, the files are small for example: 38 x 38 and 76 x 76 and I have no idea how to create a larger image with these small images. In addition, they are in .png format... so what counts.

What I read a Texture is a model... right? So, I searched the FAQ, manual, etc. for things like: how to make a great model, how to use a small file to a large model and so forth but I can't find the right info.

Am I suppose to only be used to create a model of repetition? Can I do and make them be transparent?

Just thought I would ask for help while I continue my quest for answers.

In the meantime, I'm heading to the manual to learn more about the making of the bosses.

    Thank you for your time

  • a VMDK file is not recognized as vmdk file in esxi

For some reason strange esxi is not recognizing my vmdk format vmdk file. He sees it only as a normal file. And when I try to turn on the virtual machine, I get an error indicating that the vmdk file is not a valid file.

It seems that you (or someone else) changed the header vmdk file manually. Otherwise it would not exist a file 'vmdk.old '.

Go to the command line (on the console or ssh) and check that the content of the header vmdk file is correct. If you need help, please send the header as well as the file ".old" file to see what has changed.

  • Error e/s download large vmdk file to the data store

Hi, I am looking to download a large file (400 GB) vmdk to our SAN by using the method of the vsphere client browser store data but get IO error when it gets to about 270 GB. Is there a limit to how big a file can be? any other recommended method?

    Thank you

    Rob

What is the version of VMFS (VMFS3 or VMFS5) of the data store? In the case of VMFS3 there are limitations on file size depending on the block size of the data store (for example, 1 MB block size-> ~ 256 GB).

  • How to retrieve properties of TDMS files in VBScript?

We try to focus on some variables of our capture program of Labview in our DIAdem evaluation tool - the length of the videos that we are capturing and the overlap between them.

We kept them as properties associated with the PDM file, but I can't understand how to access in a script. Any advice?

    Hi PGribble,

Save the properties to the file level, group level, or the level of the channel?  If you have saved the properties to the file level, you have loaded a single file in the DIAdem data portal, or you have loaded several files into the data portal?

If you can see the property you want in the table property of the Data Portal, you can simply drag the name of this property in the Panel in your VBScript SCRIPT tiara-DIAdem will insert the code to read this property.

  • How to split a large video file into several episodes/files?

    Hi all

I have a 52 minute video I need to divide into 3 separate files until I can modify it (so I can download it on youtube as 3 separate episodes). I know how to separate the layers and make all make the base edition etcetera, but I'm stumped on how to turn those divide the layers into separate files.

Any help on this is much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

If you split just a video using Premiere Pro or The Adobe Media Encoder directly. You will save a lot of time. In the SOUL, you can set a duration for the three segments. In Premiere Pro just create three sequences and add them to the render tail. It's really basic things. You should study upward.

    Hi all.

I'm new on the vmware esxi server, and need help.

I have created a server virtual windows 2003 and would like to copy the vmdkt to a new folder and then rename so that there the same as the new virtual machine that I would create.

    Any ideas?

    Concerning

    Dennis

You can use vmkfstools.pl to the RCLI.  The command would be as

    vmkfstools.pl - Server folder2/destination.vmdk.

The name of data store should be in brackets and you can download the vmware site RCLI - there is a windows install, installing linux or linux device.

  • How to split a large data file

    Hi people,

I have problem here in oracle 10g on Windows 2003 (32 bit) so we have a datafile (.dbf) of 21GB size and we are not able to copy during cold backup OS throwing under error, we are working with the provider of the OS on this. Please let me know if any best way to divide data files in oracle.

Operating system error: insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.

    Thank you
    Rambeau

    Hello

If the data file size is 21 GB and you want to get rid of it, then I suggest to create a new tablespace with fixed data file size and then move all the objects in this tablespace to new tablespace and drop the old tablespace and rename tablespace again with the old.

  • Could not import a VMDK file in ESXi

I am currently test ESXi to determine if we should use in our company.

I have a virtual machine running on a server ESXi, with the virtual machine stored on a NFS share. (Openfiler)

I had Openfiler take a snapshot of my virtual machine running. Like a scenario disaster, I tried to take the VM of the snapshot files and copy them back to another folder on the NFS share.

My goal was to see if I could get this "restored" virtual machine running I tried two things:

    (1) select new virtual machine and poitning Creae tried for the VMDK in my new file, but even thought the file was there, and the extension was correct, that he did NOT appear in the window "Browse the data store", coudnlt.

    (2) I tried to look through the data store manually (Configuration& gt; Storage& gt; NFS volume), and I tried right-clicking on the 'restored' vmx file The option 'Add to inventory' wa clickable, but when I did, the virtual machine imported as 'Unknown 1 (invalid)' and it cannot be turned on.

Any suggestions? I saw during an attempt to import VMDK in Vmware Server ESXi, people have similar problems, but I'm on the server SmSAME, SAME SAN storage. I just took the snap-snap-shotted VM and copied it to a new folder and tried to mount it as a separate virtual machine.

    Thanks for any help!

    -jason

No doubt seems to be a permissions issue.  Can you check on your NFS server, and make sure that the ownership of these files are the same as the previous record, as well as the files themselves?

How can I recover this VMDK file?

Looks like you have several virtual hard drives of many virtual machines attached to your VM Veeam.  I suggest to delete, make sure that you do NOT select the option remove drive when you delete them.

  • The Vmdk file size

    Hello.

I have an ESX 4.0.0 host and I created a new virtual machine on this subject, to install WIN 2003.

When configure the virtual disk, I put the 18 GB disk and selected size space Allocate and commit on request option (thin Provisioing).

The following steps are fine and smooth. The installation is good and VM can be saved on the local HARD disk. It could work like I want.

In the end, I logged in the ESX sever to check how the size of the VMDK file has been generated.

    Result as below.

    $ ls - lh

    total of 9.7 G

    -rw - 1 root root 1.0 G the 31 mai 10:43 vm - 17412363.vswp

    -rw - 1 root root 17G 31 May 17:51 vm1 - flat hard

    -rw - 1 root root 8.5 K 31 mai 11:06 vm.nvram

    -rw - 1 root root 469 31 mai 10:45 vm.vmdk

    -rw - 1 root root 0 May 31 10:40 vm.vmsd

    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root, 2.9 K 31 mai 10:43 vc01.vmx

    -rw - 1 root root 259 the 31 mai 10:40 vm.vmxf

    -rw - rr 1 root root 110 K 31 mai 17:18 vmware.log

I felt that it is fake!

Why is the total size of 9.7 GB but vm1 - flat hard file is 17 GB?

It's over the total size. It seems strange to... isn't it?

Then I was loggin to WIN2003 (vm) and make sure how the C drive size.

C drive has been total 16.9 and GB 8,44 available...

The C drive size is perhaps skirtss size. It is a good idea.

but WHY the total size is 9.7 GB? AND tell me the breakdown of this total size of the file.

    Can someone explain to me?

    Help me ~ ~ ~

    Thank you!

    Hello!

VM1 - flat hard is sparesefile and signals the total maximum size of the disk.

And 9.7 total disk space used, log + swap files.
