How to select a range of colors as in Photoshop or copy/move a layer in the mask of another layer?

Hello

I'm experimenting Photoshop Elements and wanting to use a layer of black and white (gray scale) I did as a mask of a another layer and do not know how to do in elements.  In Photoshop, I could do it (there may be a better way to do it in PS, but I've not yet discovered)...

Click on the layer, I created that I intend to use as a mask

Select all

Copy

Select the layer that I want the mask to be applied to the

Click on the button Add a mask layer (bottom layer)

Click on the mask icon so it is highlighted (and is not the image)

switch to the channel display

highlith the layer mask in the R, G, B of the layers and make it visible

Dough

invisible again

Switch to layers.

This works and retains the full range of transparency for the semi transparent and soft contours of mask etc.

Otherwise, I can choose a range of colors, but this doesn't seem to be available in PS Elements.

So, how do I get the same result in PS Elements?

Thanks for your help

Jonno

After you have added your layer mask, Alt (Option) click on the thumbnail of the mask layer in the layers panel, and then edit > paste.

  • Paste a selection of range of colors in Illustrator

Hi, chart Im a first year student and fairly new to photoshop so this can be a fairly simple task that I am doing, but it's driving crazy me!

I have a picture of some cables repositioned to form a word (attached) that I'm trying to cut out from its background in photoshop so that I can stick it on a white background in Illustrator. Deliberately, I attached the cable to a background color so that I could select it using the "select color range" in photoshop. This seems to work initially - the word becomes separated from the green background appears on a grid background. But then, when I try to paste or drag Scripture cropped in Illustrator, it is surrounded by a black/marquee rectangle. This remains even when unchecked. Is there a way to get around this? I'm obviously a bad thing.

Why not placing in Illustrator as a PSD?

There is a bug with the color range and its use for the blur to 0%. Change the value to 1%, and it will work. Adobe know about it, but I don't know if they intend to fix it.

  • How to print with no. COLOR MANAGEMENT in Photoshop CS6

    Hello

I tried to print an i1Profiler target so I can read with my i1Pro and create a profile of the printer, but no matter what I do, there is no way to get photoshop to provide a profile when printing. I tried to select printer handles color and then put the printer driver in the MANAGEMENT of OFF COLOR (seemed to me this would disable both the printer color management and color management photosbop). Tried to print this way (and many other ways) but NO SOLUTION - the impressions are VERY different from the on-screen display (which is in a correctly profiled Apple monitor) and they did resemble those with a selected profile.

I also tried the Adobe Color Printer Utility Utility and same results!

I use an EPSON Stylus Pro 7900 I just bought.

    Help, please

The key here is to really actually go ahead and print the target of i1Profiler to your printer... in the graphical Test Panel, create the staff and click on print instead of Save as. As long as you have the size of the page defined in the layout, you should get a target Specifies printer to read. According to the patches how you have defined, this may take a few pages, but they will be correctly formatted for playback with the i1Pro...

If you use a background layer, click the lock icon to change the bg in a normal layer layer. Selection shows the cover.

Click on the mask icon in the layers panel to create a layer mask.

Select the layer mask by clicking on it, then press ctrl/cmd-i to invert the mask so the selected color is abandoned.

  • How to use "Sélective" and "Color range" in the edition of video using Photoshop CC

    0 down vote favorite

I am very familiar in the use of "Sélective" and "Color range" on the image, but not on video. I have a video with a few yellow flowers moving because of the wind. I want to make this black and white video and change the yellow color of the flowers in red. I can manage to do everything except to change the yellow color in red. It is very simple on the image editing because I used to use "range of colors" to have the mask that contains all the yellow and then apply a hue/saturation layer on this mask. If I want to use the same logic on a video, I should have a layer to "color range" which create a mask dynamically on all video frames but I don't know how to do in Photoshop CC and even if it is possible. Can someone help me? Is there a simple way to do it? Thank you.

  • Selecting with the range of colors does not work correctly

Well, at least for me it does not correctly.  If I have items on separate levels, and I use the color range option to select the area, it works at all levels, not just the level I selected.  This isn't what I want!  I want only to choose the range of color at a level.  The work-around needs to manually turn the other levels, but on a file with a lot of levels, which can be tedious.  Can this be avoided?  Either way, magic wand works only on the selected level, but not color range (or the range of colors, if you're American).

Hide all other layers can be done by alt-click on the visibility icon in the layers panel.

  • How to select multiple duplicates to remove

I show multiple copies of the same songs in my itunes. It is probably because I have a few external drives with backups attached to my main PC. I want to store the Itunes library, and I know how to remove the duplicates, but can do for simple songs. I want to be able to select all duplicates and remove it at once. Does anyone know how I could do this?

You can select a range of songs by selecting one, and then shift-click on another, you can add or remove individual tracks with ctrl + click and ctrl + shift + click can add a new group to the selection. However, I would recommend the following...

iTunes can create duplicates if the same content is added several times from outside the media folder when it is about to make copies of everything that is added to the library, or is added from an external drive that hosts the press kit that was disconnected during the launch of iTunes.

Official notice of Apple on the duplicates is here: find and remove duplicates in your iTunes library. This is a manual process and article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as the lost coast and membership of playlist, or sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library as well as a removal and recycling the file will break all the others.

Use MAJ > display > show items to reproduce exactly to display the duplicates because it is normally a selection more useful. You must manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sort the list by Date added can make easier select appropriate tracks, but it works better when executed immediately after the dupes were created.  If you have several entries in iTunes connected to a same file on the disk hard then don't not send to trash.

Use my DeDuper script (Windows only) If you are not sure, do not want to do it by hand, or want to maintain ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this background thread , this post for detailed instructions and Please take note of the warning toback up your library before deduping.

(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to temporarily view or CTRL + B to keep displayed.)

The latest version of the script can put away the dead links as long as there is at least a double live to merge his stats and membership of the playlist and must deal wisely when the same file has been added through multiple paths.

  • How to select the pieces of my image in black and white?

How to select the pieces of my image in black and white? FOW example letter J or the circle or the two together?

    jaguar_growler_blur best8.png

It's actually pretty easy, but I have to assume that you know a few basics in Photoshop

    (1) open your existing image

    (2) double click on the layer and the 'layer style' appears. In the mix if area set the sliders so the whites in the image disappears

You will be left with just the black elements in design

    (3) duplicate layers

    and merge them together

    to give a standard layer

    (4) ctrl or cmd click on the layer to select and create a layer mask

    (5) you now have a mask of the image. Duplicate the layer, click alt or option, click on the layer mask to call

    (6) the blacks and the whites are not completely black and white for the use of levels to adapt to the absolutes

    (7) now you have to decide what you want to select. In this case, I chose the lettering and simply covered everything else to the top with black. You do this by lasso selection and fill and items when it's delicate brush just the details with a black brush "hard." .

    (8) at this stage, you can do what you want you have a layer mask. So you can color the text for example

or place in a background color and apply a layer as Beveling effect

Hope that makes some sense. It is much easier to do than to describe.

  • How to identify / poster separate values / colors?

Does anyone know how to identify all the values in a posterized in grayscale? Also is there a way to make some sort of list of these values / colors in the layers, channels, etc.?

Basically I have a grayscale image that has been poster in 11 neutral gray values. I know how to select each value separately, but I really want to be able to 1) have Photoshop automatically identify each set to black on white in a list, and displays those values in a list - 2) somehow preferably something I can click to select values. I mean like in a game of Munsell by neutral gray values.

OK cool thanks - so it looks like I can use scales like those you provided previously by selecting a corresponding value then the numbers RGB of this value to the values of Munsell in a grayscale photo.
