  Hello

  I'm experimenting Photoshop Elements and wanting to use a layer of black and white (gray scale) I did as a mask of a another layer and do not know how to do in elements.  In Photoshop, I could do it (there may be a better way to do it in PS, but I've not yet discovered)...

  Click on the layer, I created that I intend to use as a mask

  Select all

  Copy

  Select the layer that I want the mask to be applied to the

  Click on the button Add a mask layer (bottom layer)

  Click on the mask icon so it is highlighted (and is not the image)

  switch to the channel display

  highlith the layer mask in the R, G, B of the layers and make it visible

  Dough

  invisible again

  Switch to layers.

  This works and retains the full range of transparency for the semi transparent and soft contours of mask etc.

  Otherwise, I can choose a range of colors, but this doesn't seem to be available in PS Elements.

  So, how do I get the same result in PS Elements?

  After you have added your layer mask, Alt (Option) click on the thumbnail of the mask layer in the layers panel, and then edit > paste.

• Select the range of colors, what happens to blur and the beach?

  I use CS6.  If I use the option sampled colors, four buttons below the drop all remain active.  If I choose one of the predefined colors or or shades, all the controls between the menu drop down and the area preview get greyed out.  I tried this on several images of different types of files, on the base layer, (unlocked) but also a layer created for the test with the same result.

  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  This is the expected behavior for CS6. In PS CC, they have made changes to the shadows, midtones, and shadows, so that you can adjust the values.

  Select the range of colors. I use the rust-coloured cover to drop out the background.

  

  If you use a background layer, click the lock icon to change the bg in a normal layer layer. Selection shows the cover.

  Well, at least for me it does not correctly.  If I have items on separate levels, and I use the color range option to select the area, it works at all levels, not just the level I selected.  This isn't what I want!  I want only to choose the range of color at a level.  The work-around needs to manually turn the other levels, but on a file with a lot of levels, which can be tedious.  Can this be avoided?  Either way, magic wand works only on the selected level, but not color range (or the range of colors, if you're American).

  Hide all other layers can be done by alt-click on the visibility icon in the layers panel.

• You can use the range of colors in quick mask mode?

  I like to use the color range and the use of masks is quick to make a selection, but when I enter the Quick Mask Mode, I can use is no longer color range. I want to be able to do is:

  2. Range of colors allows you to make a selection

  No, range of colors will not work. It should be greyed out, otherwise you'll be sampling your mask and your image.

  Some weird things going on here.  You have selected to grayscale so that your image is grayscale.  It looks like the preview image is reversed, what can be done by checking the box reverse, but which has not been verified.  When you make a selection, so when you make the selection based on your example above, it actually choose the Green?  If so, try the box reverse selection.

  I am manually transfer of photos, because the iXpand is having major problems, you try to transfer all files at the same time, my iPhone to the iXpand.    It simply stops transfer.

  There is unfortunately no way to select a range. You will have to type all.

  Anti-aliasing is turned off however, there are gaps. How can I stop this? This problem occurred recently, as a few days ago, I've been able to copy and paste without gaps.

  I select a part of the image then copy and paste into a new layer in the same position, then I select the inverse of the image newly pasted the selection back to previous and Coptic image, the other party, and paste it into a new layer.

  Sometimes, these lines appear if you are not 100% like c.pfaffenbichler said, it can also be the way that your graphics card is reading the info, as often, when you flatten layers, the line will disappear. One thing you can do is to develop the selection of 1 px on the layer which will be the bottom. This will give you a bit of overlap.

  But you can call an action with the CS6 script: select a path in your scipt and call for action (in which is: select same fill color)

  Using InDesign cs3, ExtendScript.

  Searching through text in a story (text flowed in to frames of text block).

  After finding a particular word, I want to return the index of the parent paragraph or that the word is in.

  So I want to select a range of text, using the returned clues of these lines/paragraphs.

  I can't choose the beaches of text no problem with the function "app.select ()".

  The issue is coming up with these parameters to be passed from the script dynamically.

  I'm looking text with my own function because it seems that the integrated "Find/replace" returns the array of found objects, but not their individual locations in the document/story.

  'The' hint of a paragraph is nothing special, it's the index of the first character of this paragraph within his history of parent. In particular, said you "it's the 5th paragraph" or something like that.

  This is because 'Paragraph' is an artificial construction inside 'Text', not a really existing first-class object. Identical to 'Line', 'Word', 'character', and indeed, any selection of text at all.

  Since you already have a table "found text", "index" subsection of the nth element - with the constraint described above - are simply using foundText [n] .paragraphs [0] .index (the index of the first character of your foundText is foundText [n] .index).

  If you do not need to know the nth number of paragraph, search this forum. I think that Peter Kahrel responded to a post to answer this specific question.

• Paste a selection in another - PES 9

  I'm putting a person's face in another picture.  I went to the help section and followed the instructions (I thought).  I selected the area of the image, I wanted the face to get in (and I assumed protected the rest of the area of the image, so the face would only appear in the selected area).  When I then use the command paste into selection PSE puts the face in the middle of the new image - not in the selected area.  If I try to move the face in the selected area it passes both the face and the protected area as if they are locked together.

  Try this to familiarize themselves with the command "Paste":

  1. Open the empty, new file (file > new > empty file - size of Preset items: by default)
  2. Duplicate the background layer, to work on the background copy layer
  3. Access the Rectangle tool make a selection rectangular good-sized with the tool
  4. Open an image file
  5. Go to Select >, then edit > copy
  6. Go back into the empty file
  7. Choose Edition > paste into selection
  8. Now, hold the mouse and drag within the area of selection. Note the limitation of visibility.

  This method does not provide the flexibility of the functions copy and paste ususal as Barbara and Mark has pointed.

  I found it useful to power models built as a series of pieces - I believe that the people of scrapbooking as this method.

  00FF00 is a web color. OK if you are working in RGB.

  But if you are working in CMYK mode you will not be able to print it because it is outside the range of CMYK and will convert the darker green. It's what the warning symbol.
