  Panel configuration-Device Manager - look at the settings for the network card, WiFi, Modem power management.

  Recently, my laptop (a HP Notebook 2000) began to encounter a problem when I close the screen and place the laptop in "standby mode", then it freezes and turns off mode 'sleep'.   If the driver Atheros and potentially the driver Daemon Tools, cause my problems? I guess I can just uninstall Daemon Tools outright and that will solve the problem (I really don't use it anyway.)

  The Atheros driver is the culprit... I did just notice the Daemon Tools, because they are known to cause a BSOD and Yes you can uninstall.

  I have been using an Ideapad Y450 before this T420i. I love the Fn + F2 shortcut that I turn off the screen without turning to the mode "sleep" or sth like that. It still works as awaken, only the monitor is off, it is still continue to play the music or to continue the download. The display should be activated by moving the mouse or type on the keyboard, but only when you click Fn + F2 again. How can I do that on this new computer? T420i? Or is it not possitive to do? I really want to be able to turn off the screen without turning off or turning to sleep.

  Let me start by saying that I am a novice in computer repair, so advice please put in laymon's terms! My problem started a few weeks ago, when my Dell inspiron 1526 would not resume when I opened the lid of the laptop.  (I rarely have to cut the power, just close the lid) When he started to arrive, I have to cut the power and turn off several times to get my computer to come back.  I did research on the internet for a solution (because I had resorted to all leaving the lid open).  I found one that worked for me... I did the following:

  Click on the start menu, then right click on "computer" and click Properties.
  Click the Manager option of devices on the left.
  Under "System devices", one of the first should be the appliance close the lid.  Right click and click on "Update Driver Software".
  Click "Browse my computer...". ", and then"Let Me pick from a list... ". »
  Uncheck it "Show compatible Hardware".
  In the list on the right, scroll down, select Manager of Volume and click Next.

  It was running great until the other day when I accidentally clicked on the Start button and then put the computer in mode 'sleep'.  Well now the computer screen lights up not at all.  All my family and I spent the weekend all put under tension of the laptop then turn it back, nothing will do.  I am now in panic mode since I use my computer to work from home as well as to take some college courses online! I found a lot of advice on this subject, but all of them are to be able to actually see what is on the screen! I need to know how to put the screen on the first!  I tried to take out the battery and unplug it but that no longer works.
