Activation of Windows XP Professional (home use only)

My computer keeps saying that I need to activate windows. It will not connect to the internet to complete the process, so I called the phone number, entered my product key and was told by the automated system that it my not be authentic.
She is authentic and I had no problem using it in the past - until that my laptop crashed. The phone line said on the Web site but I can't find anything of use.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

You just reinstall Windows XP Pro?

What is the brand and model of your PC? There a sticker of certificate of authenticity (COA) anywhere above (probably on the bottom)? If so, is the Windows XP Pro operating system or something else?

What specific method did you use to reinstall Windows? What was a clean installation or repair? If you use a Windows XP Pro installation CD, please describe in as much detail as possible.

When you call the phone number, listen carefully; There should be an option to speak to a live person!

  • Upgrade in Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional by using the OEM System Builder Pack

I built a computer and initially installed Windows 7 Home Premium using an OEM System Builder Pack. Now, I want to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional. I have a new OEM System Builder Pack for Windows 7 Professional. How can I do this without losing the files, data, documents, etc., and I can put this copy of Windows 7 Home Premium on another computer? It is a personal computer only. Thank you.

Unfortunately, you will need to do an install custom, which means that your applications and drivers will need to be reinstalled.

If you want to keep your personal files, you can use the custom installation of the configuration to do:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

How did you get the 25-character product key to activate?

  • Can I use an existing Windows 7 Professional Upgrade DVD for Windows 7 Professional upgrade using the keys I bought instead of loading down?

I've updated three of my computers from Windows XP Professional for Window 7 Professional using kits of DVD I bought. I have three sets of Window 7 professional DVD in my possession. I bought a new license [facility provided by Microsoft key] for my ThinkPad. I ordered also accompanying the DVD, which I imagine will happen next week. Rather than wait for the DVD, can I use one of my existing 32 Bit Windows DVD for installation to upgrade with the new license key that I got from Microsoft?

No problem - but you might want to wait, if your existing DVD is the original version, because a new will have SP1 integrated, so it'll even some hassles :)

  • Problems with the Activation of Windows 7 Professional

Hello, for a long time, my windows was genuine, but then I ran SpyHunter 4 to end a virus in my computer. But then I had to reset the computer, and then, the windows became a pirate and showing 7601 compilation and I started getting messages that I might be victim of falsification of software. Then, I clicked on the link to activate the window again. And then, I downloaded the WindowsActivationUpdate.exe, and when it ended, I have zero crashed my computer and I received this message, but the windows was always not authentic. Then I went to microsoft.com/genuine and tried to launch the legitcheck.hta, it starts and says that the validation of the window is current and recommended that I do not have to navigate beyond this page. But then, after awhile, it gets with and shows the following script errors:

  • Re-install Windows 7 Professional by using the product key?

    Original title: Windows 7 Professional.

    Hello

I just bought a pc that was advertised on facebook, he has Windows 7 Professional installed, I asked if he had the drive, but I was told that it has been installed by a computer scientist with a purchased product key.

I want to reformat the h/d and to reinstall the software, how can I do this using the product key?

    Concerning

    TonyB76

    Hello Tony

It depends on the type of license that is on the PC. to determine this, the simplest method is to run the MGADiag tool:

Download MGADiag (by Microsoft) from the link below:

    http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=52012

Run the tool by double-clicking the file. Press to continue when prompted

When it is finished, press on copy and then paste (Ctrl + V) in your next post please

Please also indicate which version of windows is mentioned on your COA sticker (if you have one) but do not publish the key.

I want to access Device Manager on a Windows 7 Ultimate remote computer from a computer running Windows XP Professional.  Whenever I have use (compmgmt.msc) computer management and access the remote computer, I connect successfully to it.  But when I select the Device Manager it says: 'access denied '.  I checked the security policy (secpol.msc) and I chose the deny access to this computer from the network and there no users and groups listed but it says that its default value is invited.  Can you tell me the step by step procedure?

    Thank you.

In addition to changes to the GP, you must also do the following.

Open services.msc, locate the "Remote registry" service, start the service and set to start automatically.

  • My windows xp professional (home) restarts from the beginning. It repeats

When I start windows xp professional, the screen displays windows xp, then the screen changes to ask me to start in safemode, secure with implementation network, normally known, or was last started.  And none of these work.  She does several times.

    Hello

Windows xp says key invalid note, that I am not connected to the Internet

Should I force stop and go somewhere with Internet or what?

During installation, Activation is not required - if you receive answers key not valid at this point then the problem is one or more of the following

    (1) you are wrong interpret or evil entered the key

    (2) you entered a key OEM and a disc using retail (or vice versa)

    (3) using a SP2 or earlier disc with a key of SP3.

Only activation is required at any time during the 30 days after installation, and can be done by phone.
