How to use RECOVERY D drive

Hello. I have reset my HP laptop to its factory because of problems settings trolling. Anyway I don't have really a lot of my old files, but resetting has lowered my laptop for Windows 8. Anyway is to reinstall Windows 10 using the recovery disk D? Ive checked and its still lot to the difference of my main drive. How to use this partition recovery to recover the former status of my laptop? I don't mind getting my old stuff back, but once again the upgrade to windows 10 takes a load of time. Thanks in advance

Hello

HP image from the recovery partition on your hard drive in their factory.

And it is the preinstalled operating system that was on your HP laptop when you bought it.

It reinstalls the operating system, back to new condition. how it was put in place when you bought it.

This is how it works.

See you soon.

    Hello

Your laptop is old laptop model and OS can be installed using recovery media only.
External ODD cannot be recognized as boot device and you won't be able to use it.

See operating manuals and there you will find a list of all compatible ratings, buy one and replace.
Replacement isn't complicated and you can do it alone.

    Hello

I doubt that it works with VmWare.
    Why?
Because the restore CD contains the ghost image files and you will need to boot from the recovery CD for installation.

  • How to use Recovery on satellite Pro L10 with DVD drive broken?

    Hello...

I have a satellite Pro L10, which is virused. I need to recover Windows. Unfortunately, I can not, because the CD/DVD drive is borked.

I tried everything until and including the purchase of a laptop adapter HD, but my desktop computer is not a Toshiba so he does not have the recovery disk.

I've never had to use a "recovery disk" before, so I have no idea how it works - apparently there should be a folder on my hard drive recovery? can someone tell me where I could find it? (I'm quite familiar with the innards of my installation of Windows and have never noticed before). Also, is it possible that this native recovery file has been compromised by my virus?

Default: can it be fixed using an installation of LAN, and if so, could someone point me to instructions? (My BIOS allows booting from LAN, but not USB, which is irritating).

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

    Thank you.

    Hello

First of all you will not be able to use the Toshiba Recovery disk if you cannot use the CD/DVD drive.
Why? Because you need to boot from the CD of recovery if you want to install windows from the CD from Toshiba.

You ask how to boot from LAN?
Well friend; I doubt that you will be able to do.
First of all that this could be possible only if you have a RIS server.
The Remote Installation Services can be installed optionally on Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008.

It's really complicated and not easy for someone who has never done.
If you want you can google a little how to create REEFS but in my opinion it s advisable to buy and compatible CD/DVD drive because the STRANGE can also be used for other purposes

    Hello

The recovery disk will not remove the HARD drive password. Recovery disk will just reinstall Windows with all the drivers and tools (factory settings), but not remove any HARD or BIOS password disk. Of course the Windows password is deleted installation recovery but that s all.

  • How to use the backup drives before restoring, I created to retrieve my personal files, etc.. ??

I own a Compaq Presario CQ56 109WM Notebook PC that I recently ran System Recovery to restore it to the "State of Out-Of-Box", due to a virus or accident or something that wouldn't allow the computer to start Windows. Beforehand, I backed up my personal files, photos, music, preferences, etc. on a set of 5 DVD + R discs. Now, the computer seems to work very well, to my knowledge, but I have no idea how to do for use these drives. When I finally managed to read in my disc drive, I found an .exe file on the first disk for the Recovery Manager, which of course, I opened, and he was supposed to create a folder on my desktop and open all my stuff. However, while the first disk that I received as a message error that says "Recovery Manager cannot restore the file 10.wim. Do you want to continue? "I clicked Yes, and he gave me the same message for files 11 - 19.wim, 2.wim and 20 - 27.wim. I have no idea what it all means. Also once it was done, I have a folder on my desktop, which has 3 other folders inside and inside of those is a ton of other crazy records and files, which I'm sure that my stuff is in PLACE, but the question is, HOW DO I ACCESS AND RESTORE IT ALL to WHERE AND HOW IT WAS? LOL PLEASE HELP!

HP Backup backup many files that are unnecessary, most of your personal files should be in a folder with your old username in the "Users" folder This backup application is also known for being a pain.

As to why you got the error, that looks like all the files have been extracted, it could be a defective DVD, something caused a bad DVD writing, etc..

If you do not see a "Users" folder, I have probably start deleting the folder created on the desktop and make a new desktop or in My Documents. Then, copy the files of each DVD to this new folder. As soon as the record test running the. EXE file again to see if any better results.

Another suggestion-go in Control Panel, Options files and check to be sure "Hidden files" appear.

If all else fails, install 7Zip and trying to extract the. WIM files.

  • Re: How to use Recovery Expert Mode in Satellite Pro M70-220 product recovery CD

I would appreciate advice on the following points.

My Satellite Pro M70-220 (PSM75E-00D008G3), portable computer has 4 partitions created by Acronis Disk Director costume v9:

    C: OS - Win XP Pro SP3
    D: programs
    E: data & downloads
    F: backups

After you start the laptop in Win XP, I inserted the recovery CD Toshiba in the DVD - RAM drive
and sailed to the BMP file, R:\G_INST\BMP, where I found the file "menu.bmp", which gives 2 recovery
    Options:

    * 1. Retrieve entire hard drive *.
Caveat. All data stored o your computer will be lost.
Preinstalled software factory will be installed.

    * 2. Recovery expert Mode WARNING: *.
This is for PC experts only.
Preinstalled software factory can be installed on an existing partition.

My questions are linked using the "Recovery Expert" Mode:
-I'll be able to use the "recovery of the Expert Mode' the recovery CD to reinstall Win XP Pro (pre-installed software factory) on my C: partition, while affecting only not partitions D, E & F?
-I'll be able to format the C: partition by using the "Expert recovery" Mode, without formatting of other partitions?
-What is the exact procedure of "Expert Recovery Mode"?
-where can I find more information on the procedure of "Expert Recovery Mode"?

    Thank you

    AlanCB

    > I'll be able to use the "recovery of the Expert Mode' the recovery CD to reinstall Win XP Pro (pre-installed software factory) on my C: partition, while affecting only not partitions D, E & F

Yes, this should be possible. Using the Expert Mode of recovery, you should get the ghost window where you can select the partition where the OS is to be installed. In this case only that partition would be formatted.

    > will it be possible to format the C: partition by using the "Expert recovery" Mode, without formatting of other partitions?

Yes, theoretically it should be possible.

    > what is the exact procedure of "Expert Mode of recovery"?
As I mentioned above, this mode allows you to restore the operating system on a partition of some and only this partition will be formatted.

    > where can I find more information on the procedure of "Expert Mode of recovery"?

  • How to use a flash drive for HP Pavilion p6331 with Windows Vista for backup worki?

    Hello

While I have a master's degree, my know-how is written the text, does not not with the computer functions that are new to me.  Whenever I try to my backup job, the default setting of my Media Smart desktop assumes that my files will be sent to some separate, newly purchased drive, drive E.  However, I don't have any drive E!  I bought some DVDs but they keep rejected and cannot be written above.  Seems cheaper solution was to buy a flash drive.  I tried to save, but the menu showed that drive new E or "insert DVD."  What I need to know where/how is insert (front of the back of the Tower?) flash player and the "selection" of this option.  Do I need to buy a special cable to connect this small Lexar Flash drive, 16 GB?

Thanks for all the words of wisdom.

Hello leathergirl. I checked the model number on the HP website and did not find a system with this model you listed.

You can see the card reader in the E: drive when you try to back up your data.

You should be able to navigate to any location (by car) which is able to accept data during backups. I don't recommend that you use the backup but just Windows copy and paste all data, such as documents, pictures, music, etc..

Unless you use DVD +/-RW disc, the DVD disc can have that data written (burned) to them once. DVD +/-RW can be rewritten several times before becoming defective.

The Lexar 16 GB Flash drive USB should be inserted into the USB port on the front and then recognized by the operating system and drivers must be installed by the operating system.

You should be able to copy and paste your data to the Lexar FlashDrive using Windows Explorer. Lexar Flash drive must be placed in the list of drives on the left side of the screen when using Windows Explorer.

  • Tecra M5: How to use the HARD drive password when the HARD drive is connected as an external device?

I have a Toshiba Tecra M5 with MK1032GSX hard disk. I put a bios password and HARD drive password. Every day I turn on my laptop with my password a number only once: unlock the disk and bios. The password screen is before windows starts.

One day my laptop motherboard is broken, I bring my pc on the Toshiba support center (less disc) and I'm waiting for him (2 months ago). I need to read my date of the disc, but it is locked by password. The drive is a SATA drive, I put it on a desktop computer and I see it in the bios and in windows resource device, but I do not see in the Explorer.

None of the software I've tried (HDD unlock, atapwd...) will not work. I have my password, I have not forgotten.

How to read my date? Can you help me?
    Thank you.

    Hi Oscar

Hmmm I m not 100% sure, but I think that it s not possible to remove the HARD drive HARD drive password if you haven t your laptop.
I know that if the HARD drive password has been set the HARD drive is not more accessible and more usable.

  • Satellite M70: How o use Atheros Wireless Lan Driver?

    Hello
Since I bought my Satellite M70, I had the same problems described by many on the forum and to keep band from b instead of g and the ability of its 54 Mbit connection.

I updated the intel lan driver and I am now using intel Pro/set utility driver.
Last week, I got a message from toshiba for download the latest Atheros driver which is supposed to improve connectivity.

The problem is that to happen once I installed Atheros driver nothing: there is nothing that I can do with the atheros utility, and I can still only go from Intel or Windows to manage the wireless card.

Does anyone have a good idea on how to use the atheros driver?
    Thanks for your help
    Jean-Paul
    France

    Hi, Jean Paul

I never had any message of the Toshiba who advise me to update all drivers.
However, I don't know what your laptop is the WLan card but you can't use an Atheros driver on the Intel WLan card for example.
If the Intel WLan card has been installed on your laptop, you must use the Intel Wlan drivers.
Check in the Device Manager you what Wlan laptop using the card you.
