How VMWare supports 3D graphics acceleration?

We want to use virtual system to test our HTML5 performance.

Thus, 3D graphics acceleration is necessary.

But we are new on the 3D graphics technology and this made feather supported in VMWare.

So, my question is, VMWare support Direct3D, OpenGL, or both?

How active them?

No I'm sorry, you have to build yourself the vmwgfx driver and to work and then you still use a product that is not yet still in beta.

If you are likely to see problems with it, even if you would get to work.

The easy answer with acceleration hardware openGL support for Linux is to wait until it is available to the public.

  • How does 3D graphic acceleration?

I have a server Dell PowerEdge R900 hex quad-processor 2.33 GHz with 64 GB RAM... a lot of computing power. But the machines I'm interested in virtualization are Android emulators and very demanding from the graphic point of view. Finally, I would like to take a look at some companies of the level graphics accelerated as the K1 NVIDIA GRID under vSphere virtualization solutions but for now it is out of my budget and it is an experience in my garage.

With that of the road, here is the question:

Through experimentation, it seems to me that VMware uses a kind of paravirtualization to provide guests 3D graphic acceleration, because when I was running just the database server, I was able to run 2 VMS simultaneously before performance became a problem. After you add a consumer level NVIDIA PCI-e x 8 2 GB graphics card, I'm able to run 6-7 virtual machines simultaneously. This is partially supported by what I read on VMware is able to emulate a 3D graphics card using the power of the processor. My main screen (on which virtual machines are displayed) is connected to the graphics card NVIDIA HDMI output. I wonder if I should add another identical to this machine graphics card, would be VMware see, use and allow me to extend beyond the limit, which I am currently hitting? If so, was it a report any with where virtual machines are presented, or could I just add the map (without connecting a screen in there) and still have the advantage?

I ask this question on the use of VMware products in general (free player, Player Pro, workstation, etc.), as I suppose that they all work basically the same way.

Thanks in advance for your time and educate me.

Please specify your question. To get answers from experts on the workstation/player, I would go to our community of workstation.

Please check the following KB that describe how to increase the video memory available (svga.vramSize)

VMware KB: Addition of the modes of video resolution for Windows operating systems

In addition, the technology you are looking for is pass-through for GPU hardware acceleration.

Unfortunately, VMware Player and VMware Fusion exploit the GPU for 3D (SVGA) acceleration, but none of them supports GPU transmission.

Benefit from vDGA (live 1-pass-through: 1) or vGPU (shared GPU / 1: n) you must use vSphere 6 in combination with NVIDIA GRID cards.

  • How to turn off the graphics acceleration to take flight?

Was having trouble getting the Simulator running, I get the warning about the OpenGL acceleration and take-off then crashes.

I thought I found the answer here: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=java_dev&message.id=135492#M135492 but unfortunately the solution is not applicable to me. The fledge file - profiles .conf I (C:\Users\matt\net\rim\fledge-2\fledge-profiles.conf) is practically empty, so there is no quick replacement, I can do for the BodyBuilder.

It's the whole of the file:

Does anyone know what I can do to get the graphics acceleration disabled in this case?

It's called "take flight - saved.conf" not "take flight - profiles .conf '.

  • How VMWare Server 2 does not support ip addresses?

I set up and install VMWare Server on my server and train trying to install Plesk. I got the network works so I can download.  I want to give the virtual machine VMWare it's own IP so I can connect via PuTTY instead of the console, which for example won't let me paste url (plesk download url is long).  I intend to host a few websites on Plesk Virtual Machine. I added the IP address of my network provider gave me using "setup" in CentOS and it listed in/sbin/ifconfig, but still doesn't work. I have to first add IP to host your own server? A VPS can be used directly or an ip address?

No matter if I use NAT or bridged and what is the difference?

I have to add the IP address on the host as operating system?

What do I need to run vmware - config.pl to create a new network?

I was able to run by using the networks bridged on eth0 and add only the ip address on the ifcfg-eth0 on the VPS. I would like to know how VMWare manages exactly networks. Can someone answer the questions I asked?

Using the bridged network settings your guest vm will look like it is plugged directly into a nic port. If the guest virtual machine can be configured with the same IP as host system. Great if you want to have external users easily connect to the guest virtual computer because just the ip address of your network outside the host either dhcp or static. Physical switches and routers knows the ip and the guest virtual machine mac address, dns is updated, etc.

Using the NAT your guest vm settings you get an ip address translated using a subnet that you have configured for NAT when you run vmware - config.pl. If the guest virtual computer will be configured on a different as internal schema being behind a linksys router, you have at home. Good if you want to communicate with other guests of virtual machine on the same network NAT on your host and external network have access but don't want the outside network really know on the guest virtual machine ip and mac directly. So everything looks like the host entry.

  • Do we not have the GPU graphics acceleration in Indesign CC with the PC?

Hi, I use Indesign CC 2015 and I do not know if taken Adobe supported acceleration GPU for PC. I read some documents from Adobe and I think that the graphics acceleration is only available in Mac... However, I'm a bit confused because I use Illustrator and graphic acceleration works wonderful, it's a... high-speed rocket, superbeautiful... so I'm not sure why we don't have graphics acceleration in Indesign CC and if intend to add the graphics acceleration in the next versions of Adobe.

As a note, I have a lag of 1 second each time that I drag images in the pages... This seems to be a minimum... but believe me... When you work fast... you don't feel comfortable, you feel it's slow.

In QuarkXpress 2015 I don't have this lag... photos go very fast.

However, Quark is not an option for me. InDesign CC is extremely better in many areas, the Organization of the interface and how it works... seriously, I much prefer Indesign. If I have to use Quark, OK, I use it, but if can I choose, always Indesign.

So I was worried about the GPU thing and if we would have this for the PC one day?

  • Intel Graphics Accelerator

I have a HP G72 250US laptop with Windows 7 (64-bit).  Laptop has been stop intermittently. Screen goes black then stops trying to reboot, and sometimes done but the screen is black, so can't see what is on the screen. Other times she just stops completely. Sometimes the screen goes haywire with weird color mixed with pixelated graphics strange horizontal lines then goes black.

Having restarted in safe mode and ran CCleaner and then performed a Hard Reset, which seem to help for the rest of the day, but the next day in the time screen flashed, went black, then came back. This time find a notice but I clicked thinking more information but merely notice go away. It says something about Intel Graphics Accelerator (something? maybe pilot?) has stopped working and has restarted successfully.

I have Intel HD Graphics Driver 8.15.10.2086 version which is what is listed on HP for correct graphic driver. Please notify. Thank you.

    Hey Le_Corbusier,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP laptop and get a blank screen or black at startup. Try perform a reset. When you perform a hard reset note remove all USB devices and remove cards memory card reader location. Disconnect all non-essential devices.

Here is a link to overheatingas it may be the cause of the closure. If the laptop has dust on the fans it might be overheating graphics card. If this does not help at the end of this document it tells you to do a test equipment. The last thing you should try is tothe BIOS was updated.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

Now corrected to my laptop an error of ATI Catalyst Control Center.

I had given up the uninstall/reinstall and register pluck and sweep, so I ran Intel graphics all the time.

I voted against reinstall .NET 3.5, 3.0, 2.0... as I didn't aggravate and lose even more time, since I have a working machine.

  • T500 intel gm45 graphics Accelerator

    Hello

When I installed my lenovo first I donwloaded the intel gm45 driver from lenovo driver support page.

Then, I installed windows 7 and installed the graphics accelerator with release of windows 7.

I feel that it is a different driver.

    If anyone can confirm this?

    Thank you

Yes, the version numbers are slightly different. The version of Lenovo is more recent and checked/custom for your system, then I would stick to that.

A message appeared briefly near the icons boot on the recovery of graphics accelerator.  Since then, it has happened more frequently. When I searched on Google for an answer I've seen responses ranging from a problem of updating a software conflict.  Someone really knows how to fix this?

Then it may just have been a glytch of chrome, and given that I don't use chrome I could not tell you

You could make a backup copy of a file agprefs on your desktop, firstly, in the case where mess you something.
