EDIT: Just to clarify something, he expressed the crucial site for this laptop model:

    Chipset: Intel HM55
    Drive form factor: 2.5 "
    Drive Interface: SATA
    Maximum memory: 8192MB
    Slots: 2 (2 blocks of 1)
    Standard memory: 2048MB removable
    Support for USB: compliant 2.x
Although the memory can be installed a module at the same time, the best performance comes from the use by pairs of modules

Do not really understand that, but can help.

    Hello

There are two RAM slots and a slot is empty. In another location, you can find a module 2GB DDR3 1066 MHz (PC3-8500) RAM.

If you need to update the RAM, then I suggest you buy an exactly the same module

  • Satellite 1800-100 - is RAM slot B broken?

Due to the poor system performance 256 MB of RAM to put in with the the laptop 128 MB, I bought came with. When I opened the hood to the RAM slots I realized that the two slots were already in use. I got my brother's cell phone and he told me that he had bought 256 MB, a few years back and he says they worked and the laptop ran with 384 MB.

The laptop has an A slot and a slot B. When I put all 3 Rams (128,256,256) into A slot they are recognized by the BIOS and notebooks works very well. However, if I put one of them in the slot B I turn on the laptop and noting happens, I can´t even not to enter the BIOS.

When I put 2x256MB (A and B) the laptop only works with 256 MB. So I guess the slot B is somehow broken? This hypothesis is correct? How do I go about solving this problem?

Thank you for a ton for all the comments / responses

    Hello

Yes it looks like there is a faulty RAM slot. This doesn't happen often, but sometimes I read about sound.
There is no way to fix it. The only way I know is to exchange the complete motherboard. Maybe you can get a second hand motherboard from eBay.

    Good luck!

  • Question about RAM

Hi, I have question about ram because I'm so confused how this works.

on my computer it says quad core and 6 GB of ram doesn't mean it all to combine them is 6 GB of ram? or each one is 6 GB?

on my system config it says 6 GB so it means that each of them is 6 GB?

and could you explain how to work this thing of hearts?

    Hello

If your laptop is 6 GB of ram, it will mean that it is a 4 GB module in a slot and a 2 GB module in the other.  You can always refer to download and install the application at the link below.

    http://www.CPUID.com/softwares/CPU-z.html

One time installed, launch the application, click the SPD tab and you will see the size of the memory card in the location selected in the drop-down list.

More info on multi-core processors can be seen here.  Details in this regard are visible in the CPU tab on the above application.

    Kind regards

  • Using the two RAM slots

I have 2 RAM slots. I have 1 GB installed on one of these locations.

A few months before that I installed a 1 GB of RAM on another location (I gave my CPU to the shop actually to install) and it worked very well.

I had some problems with my PC so I formatted the entire hard drive and reinstalled my Windows 8. But now, he uses only one slot.

    So please tell me that

How can I use the two RAM slots?

    (Task Manager)

    (My computer properties)

Unplug ALL power - then remove the memory - and then put back them in (this process
is known as the relocation and will help if there is corrosion or other question contact). If it's been
contributes not to remove both once again put the one who was in the second slot in the first location to
see if it actually works. If this does not work, you have a bad memory module. If so, put the
another return to the second slot. If it works the problem solved. Otherwise you may have a bad
memory slot so trying combinations using other passers-by.

  • Genius Bar broke my RAM Slot

My computer knew some problems turning on and I took it to the genius bar. They went through my MacBook as there are of course many causes possible so I went to pick up another day, when they were performed. I have just return and everything works well except the RAM. I had 8 GB installed and registered only 4 GB. After rotation autour and only use a stick at a time I have diagnosed the issue as the least RAM slot is the problem. I want to know what I have to do? Is it a simple fix I can do (or try) or I need to resume and explain?

I expect that you will need to make an appointment with the Genius Bar, because apparently you have diagnosed the cause:

Where can I find the RAM slots?

    Hello

As much as I know there is no RAM Bay at the bottom of the unit and it is so just only one possible place to the RAM slots
Slots seem to be hidden under the keyboard.

In order to get access to the RAM, you will need to remove the keyboard.
Usually, it is not very difficult but if you have no experience with this dismantling then you should ask a technician for assistance.

    But here's a few details;
Keyboard is fixed with 2 screws. They are hidden under the cover of thin plastic under the line of F1 to F12 key.
Remove the plastic cover, remove the screws, then you could remove the keyboard take note; the keyboard is connected to the motherboard with the flat cable.

    So don't use force!

  • Thinkpad R60 ram slot problem

    Hello

I have 2 x 1 GB (same type) and 1x512mo (another manufacturer) ram sticks. With all the seperatelly put into the lower slot laptop works very well. If I put in 2x1gb I get 4 beeps and no boot, if I put 1 gb + 512 mb, I get a black screen with no beeps. If I put no stick in the top slot I get 4 beeps. If I don't put no Rams I get 1-3-3-1. I tried to apply pressure on the slot - even 4 beeps with 2x1GB. I use the latest version of the bios with the default settings.

Looks like the top slot is defective. Is it possible to fix it? Thank you.

You may need to get a new motherboard. It is the only way to fix it. Perhaps check on ebay or forum.thinkpads.com.

Also check that there is no dust in the upper ram slot.

If you can't find the second RAM slot on the lower part, usually it is under the keyboard.

  • IdeaPad 710 S-13ISK - 80SW003NGE / / there a RAM slot, or the memory is not expandable?

    Hello!

I am planing to buy a new laptop computer and found the 710 s-13ISK (80SW003NGE) interesting. There are 5 different configurations, with different processors and amount of memory. The least expensive is the only one that I could afford it, and there the lowest CPU i3-6100U, which is not matter at all, but it has only 4 GB of the DDR3L. I want to buy this one, but only if I am able to upgrade memory one day to 8 GB, where the 4 GB are not enough for my usage scenarios.

Unfortunately I can't find any specific information, whether the mother card features a RAM slot (so the 4 GB might be replaced by greater 8 GB), or memory is soldered directly on the motherboard (it is not replaceable).

Someone has this particular laptop and could give me some feedback on this one?

    Thanks much, much in advance!

I found this link to a site with a review on this model and it added to my previous post, and it seems that the RAM is indeed on board and is maxed out at 4 GB

This sheet of sites seems to confirm that the RAM is welded on board.
