  After about 2 1/2 years without problem to copy and print with my Photosmart C3100 all-in-One printer stopped printing.   When you print from iPad or phone using AirPrint, Airprint menu displays the message 'printer is out of paper' whenever the JO 5740 is selected, and yet the printer is full and prints normally without worrying. On Mac, printing queue always shows "paper tray is empty", still prints normally anyway. He did it since the first time I ever printed on it. I did an online chat with the help of HP, and the representative concluded that the printer was defective. I switched the printer at the store that I bought it since then, and the second printer does exactly the same thing from the moment I plugged it. The printer itsself never shows a warning of paper output. Removal and replacement of paper do not help. In any case, I'm wireless printing. Please note, that the printer WON'T pick up the paper and print normally; It is just falsely indicating one out of paper.

  Jac I found this on my own. HP was going to replace this printer because they concluded that it was defective. However, it works as expected! This printer has two paper, one for plain paper trays and one for paper photo 4 x 6. Because I do not print photos, I didn't load the photo tray. Thus, each device notified me that the printer is in paper. All I had to do was load the paper picture sample provided with the printer and the BAM!, no more message. I can't believe I spent an hour on the phone with the help of HP check of the cables, reinstall the drivers, reconfiguring wireless, move the printer closer to the router, blah, blah. They don't even know their own products.

  The default settings on the devices Apple Airprint is printing photos from the photo tray and all other documents of the main paper tray. If there is not present when you try to print a photo of photo paper, you will get an out of paper message, even though there may be current plain paper.

  After speaking with one of our engineers, he assures me that there is nothing wrong with your printer. Generally once the printer is out of paper, it will take a period of time for the paper sensors in the printer to communicate that paper is again present in the status bar. He told me that this issue should not be affected by the level of toner you have.

  My recommendation is that you ensure all large printing you have enough present in the status bar to complete the paper work. Otherwise, after replacing the paper in the printer gives a short period of time before returning to the print job.

  Check with the printer manufacturer's support, their drivers and documentation online and ask in their forums
  (as applicable) on known issues. OEM for the printer manufacturer is responsible for the proper functioning of
  the printer and their drivers provided.

  Not really a Windows problem.

  I just installed a Pixma iP90 on Windows 7 Pro x 64 computer.  The printer is old, but lightly used. I bought it for the trip in 2006, and since his last in 2007 (!) print job, the printer has been safely stored.

  Installation on Windows 7 Pro x 64 resulted in download and update the driver manually. This process went well, and Windows indicates that the printer installed successfully. He has nine ink cartridges and done all the right noises when turned on.

  However, I am trying to print evokes two error messages: a pop-up in the Windows system tray says "printer not responding do not.  Then, when I go into the properties of the iP90 printer, says another message: "out of paper," which is not true. I have five or six leaves in the pile of food.

  I turned the printer on and off, checked the connections, tried different USB ports, restarted the computer, cancelled print queues and still... 'Doin' nuttin.

  After considerable digging, I came across a gun troubleshooting / maintenance utility, who properly diagnosed - and fixed - two problems that have prevented my impression of printing.

  Is the message of the printer or on the computer. If on the computer you have communication problem check the connection between the computer and the printer.

  I have a HP Photosmart B8550 who insists on the fact that I'm paper little matter how much is in the main tray.  Whenever I try to print from my computer or just running test page, I get the error message "Out of Paper".   This problem occurred about two weeks after the expiration of the warranty of the printer.

  If these steps do not fix the problem, then a hardware problem has developed in the feeding mechanism and your best option will be to replace the printer. Have you thought about contacting HP Support on the upgrade program?
