  If you previously had rock, I suspect you had a printer in the past offered by the OCR software. The c4780 has no OCR outside the full feature software and drivers that moved.

  I suggest you download and install the software for the wireless, I can't guarantee that the OCR software so that it will work correctly with your printer, but we can try Officejet 8500.

  Here's another post written by @MissTeriLynn which validates my suspicion and already has the link to the software for the 8500.  Option no. OCR in the center of the HP Solutions.

  Windows 7, 64-bit, Photosmart Premium C310a.  HP Solution Center scan shortcuts are missing.  You want to scan to searchable PDF or Word 2007.  I used to but I had to uninstall the software and reinstall it, and they won't come back.

  I realized that my previous printer, 3210xi PS, OCR software, so I installed the center of solutions of this package and it worked.  Thanks for your help.

• Copy or transfer scan shortcuts

  My 8500 A909g works well on an ethernet network with 3 computers, themselves connected via ethernet.  No problem and very happy.  All computers have essentially identical filesystems and I want to use the same shortcuts scan on each box, for each user, etc.  However I find no simple method to transfer the scan settings to a specific user or a particular computer to other computers or EBU on the network, other than to redo shortcuts custom handmade.  This that I do not enjoy.  Is it possible to copy, paste, duplicate, etc., these shortcuts and use them on other boxes or for other users on the network?

  I may be a temporary work-around for this issue.  What I'm trying to do, it's not having to configure individually "scan to" shortcuts for each machine and each user on the network.  Once I had set up the shortcuts ' scan to ' satisfactory, I went looking for the modification of file or registry that I could copy from user to user or computer to another to avoid the long steps required.

  First of all, some of the details.  I am running XP Pro SP3 on all computers on the network.  In addition, each computer has essentially the same file systems and structures, to a document in a place given on one computer means that it is possible to register in a similar situation on other computers.  It takes to do the same and is not related to the HP software, but for me, it's very useful.  Being demanding has value.

  The file is located at "a909g.xml" :

  [DRIVE]: \Documents and Settings\ [USERNAME] \Local Data\HP\Digital Imaging

  This is normally a file hidden under XP, and you have to adjust the settings of the folder so that it is visible.  I copied this file to all users on all computers, after first installed and configured the HP software on all computers and tested all options.  Then I restart and open an administrator account and run the HP Solution Center.  There I go to 'Settings' and ' Scan to ' settings and choose and order the shortcuts that you want for this computer on the network.  Sometimes a restart of the computer or the printer seems to be necessary to get the settings to "infiltrate" through the network.

  So far, it worked without any particular problem and represents a saving of time and effort, moreover, this means that all settings are identical from computer to computer (all print, scan and copy options and locations), which is important to me.  But I still think that, in general, this software package suffers from a bit of 'fat' and is, at least on my not-so-new computers a bit of a resource hog.  Also the Solution Center is rather slow, but I'm not in the mood to drop 4 perfectly good computers for this reason alone.

  Hope someone else finds this sort of useful thing.

• How to import internet shortcuts?

  I'll put up a new laptop after a HARD disk crash. I copied in all of my data from a backup HD Ext. I have my old IE 'Favorites', registered in records as "internet shortcuts" on my new C drive.

  Please, how do these favorites / bookmarks in FireFox?

  I've read elsewhere that I first need to import them in IE, but the method described seems to only allow the import of a file at a time. I have c 600 bookmarks.

  I use Win7 Home Premium and Firefox 10.0.01. I got IE9 on this computer.

  If you have bookmarks of IE with a .url file extension then you will need to copy in the Favorites folder in your Windows user account to see IE then and probably Firefox as well if you want to import IE Favorites.

• OfficeJet Pro 8740: Printer OfficeJet Pro 8740 on-scan shortcuts

  On our old Lexmark printer, we were able to implement "smart solutions" for common tasks. For example, some set choice of values for common jobs: b scan single color in the face of the electronic mail address (b) X the CSAA n & b front e-mail address Y (c) color duplex scan to e-mail address Z.

  I finally found instructions on how to create shortcuts of the printer (the sur-imprimante those who appear via the shortcut icon on the screen of the printer) online.  But what as shown, by clicking on an icon doesn't give not any feedback to create a shortcut. No shortcut has been created.

  It seems that we can manually configure the simple options faced/double-faced and color and black-and-white in the button 'settings' by job. Is it possible to store these common parameters for a shortcut on the printer?

  After replacing the printer OfficeJet Pro unit 8620 3 times (when having tried 4) and I tried a HP Officejet Pro 276dw with the same problem, I ended up cancelling my order and get my money back.

• OfficeJet Pro 8620: Easy Scan download failure

  I just bought this new printer Officejet Pro 8620 and have successfully downloaded the software of the printer and all is good, however when it comes to Easy Scan is to stop the download and just hangs. I'm unable to scan.

  Can someone advise if there is a compatibility problem or some other problem that I have may be ready to address and also is there a solution to this problem?

  Due to a major computer crash, I recently had to buy a new computer and so I also had to buy a new printer because my Photosmart old was not compatible with my new system.

  I currently have a HP Pavilion 23-g017c (x 64) AMD APU A6-5200 w/Radeon HD Graphics, running Windows 8.1 and using IE 11 with Zone Alarm Firewall and Antivirus & spy.

  My new printer is an all-in-one HP Deskjet 2544.

  I'm trying to see if there is some way I can add a new shortcut to my scanning options that will allow me to scan a document to my computer apart from these two options now available (PDF and TIF).

  I would like to be able to scan directly into my Microsoft Office Word 2013 program if possible.

  The reason is because I find it easier to edit and print then my word a PDF program program.

  Is this possible?

  I did some research, and it turns out that you don't aren't likely something wrong. I downloaded the software for this printer, and it seems that the software version 32A omitted the ability to save your document as what files whether other than PDF or TIFF.

  With the older software, the solution I posted above would have worked, but I feel that our software has taken a step backwards rather than forwards. The only solution I can think of at this point is not ideal, but it is doable. You can download a file converter, save your files in PDF format, then convert them.

  I even tried to save a scan in PDF format, and then open them with different programs and saving it using the "" save under "and change the file type it." I chose .txt, but then when I open it in Word or a Word program, the formatting is lost.

  Basically, the only thing I can suggest is a conversion program. I'm sorry I misinformed you in my first post, it was an oversight on my part, I forgot that the software version 32 differed from older versions.

• HP pro 8620 desktop: scanning problem

  Just installed my downloaded software 8620, according to the instructions on the cd.  HP scanning icon still appears on my dock. When you use it to analyze it gives an error to check the device; However, the device checks is my old hp 5610.  How can I change this?  I can scan on my mac from the control panel of the printer.  Thank you in advance.

  Place this HP scanning icon to the trash and empty the trash.

  Then, install the application HP Easy Scan from the Mac App Store, which is the latest version of the HP scanning software.

• WebCenter Capture: Question of source to import scan

  I am new to Webcenter Capture and work on a VINE. I have a compatible scanner Twain 1.9.

  We have 11.1.1.8.0 Webcenter Capture environment. I'm working on the snap of the scanner for my weblogic capture Console but I don't get the pop for the setting up of the scanner.

  I'm following Oracle Fusion Middleware using Oracle WebCenter Capture 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) , E28283-01 part number

  I created several workspace in the console to capture followed the case of the use of the above document, but nothing works for me.

  When I followed the steps I still see below import source drop down. I can't configure my scanner. Am I missing something?

  To scan, you must have a compatible scanner TWAIN available for your system.

  1. Click on the right side of the Settings/Source of Capture button in the batch (Ctrl + Alt + S) pane.

     When you click on the triangle, one or more capture sources are listed. A check mark appears next to the selected capture source which can be a scanner or a Source of imports.

  2. If you have several sources to scan listed, select the one to use. To import rather than analyze, select Import Source.

Because acquisition settings are saved with the customer profile, you can configure the parameters of the different parser for each customer profile.   I am referring to the browser.  For example, Windows 2008 R2 has IE (64-bit) and IE (32 bit).  The 32-bit version will run Java 32 bits while the 64-bit browser will run Java 64 bit.

  The TWAIN of the client interface is only supported 32 bit browsers / Java.

• Lightroom CC will not import scanned .tif files

  I try to import a folder full of photos that I had scanned a few years ago as 120 film .tif files on my Imacon. My research told me that there are 256 items (images) in the folder, but only 11 appear in Lightroom CC import window. Any idea what's going on here? I never had problems to import files from the scanner before.

  The file names have a TIFF extension.  Needs an extension, Photoshop Lightroom does not.

• Having problem importing scanned jpg ScanCafe

  I had a few old photos scanned by the company ScanCafe.  Loading 5.4 LR it to load, but when you click on the thumbnail to expand.  It has an exclamation point and give message, Lightroom has encountered problem reading this photo.  This same photo not upload to Flickr, to get the message there is no file to download.   But jpg will be in Facebook, SmugMug or Photos from Google.   I think it's the jpg, the problem, but society says this isn't their jpg files.

  I'm not a real computer tech, so it probably won't be much help to you. I met the same problem as you did. So I opened then the file in Photoshop, made a slight adjustment of brightness. Then, I saved and closed the image. Then I imported into Lightroom again and was able to work with it in Lightroom without any of the error messages. He looked like he did when I'm done using Photoshop. I don't know how to tell you to set any other way. If you have Irfanview, you could try that. Or, if you have Photoshop/bridge and know how to use the image processor you could process images by batch and save it back. Then try to work with them in Lightroom. Either way, when I first opened it in Photoshop, I received a message that the file may be corrupted or truncated. But I clicked on the button continue and got the results I described.

  I managed to install DW CC 2014 but it do not find or import all of my CC / spaces working or shortcuts. Is there a way to get these settings in the new program. I also want to get rid of the DW CC 2014 welcome screen and see no option to "do not show this again," as in previous versions.

  You turn off the Welcome screen in Edit > Preferences > General > disable the Welcome screen check box.

  You should also be able to sync settings in Edit > synchronization settings, I don't know what covers all that well.
