  • Presario CQ60-211dx - upgrade CPU T3400; Update Flash?

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60-211DX, that has a CPU Intel 585. After reading the forum, I bought a CPU T3400 as an upgrade. Do I need to Flash the BIOS? It is currently updated for the 585, but it will be different for theT3400? If so, I flash before or after you installed the new processor?

    Thank you very much!

In 585, I assume you mean a Celeron. Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

You almost certainly have a GL40 chipset Board and the T3400 should be a quick replacement.  No need to do anything in the BIOS.

The T3400 and the 585 have the same cache, run at the same speed. I don't know how much improvement you will achieve, but I guess that saw 2 cores can be worth.

  • Battery of load/don't dump on Compaq CQ60

    Hi all

I bought a Compaq CQ60 laptop a little over 2 weeks ago to use as an individual. I have a job on my laptop that I need and I need my laptop on a daily basis at the present time.

I used my laptop almost every day and this problem arose yesterday.

The battery meter on the statements of the taskbar that the battery is 100% (fully charged) constantly and does not update to display the battery discharges. Accordingly, the battery reached the void and the computer dies with a single click. No sleep mode, without recovery, just died. Losing them all work due to the lack of a saved state.

Obviously, the auto sleep function is controlled by Vista saying the PC to do so based on the % of remaining battery life. Given that the battery indicator is not kept up-to-date, the battery completely drains and dies of the laptop. To run the laptop more than 15 minutes, the only way is to plug it into the mains supply.

Can somoene if you please help me? System Restore seems to fail on each rear roll so it's out of the question. I've just updated the BIOS to the latest version, again no no is made.

    Kind regards

    Gas

    Thanks for the responses guys.

The issue seems to have resolved, but I also take your advice.

Battery check: this at first indicated that the battery was not, then quickly found a status of 'good '. I ran the check again, and it's a 'Good' result instantly. I'm not sure about the State of the battery now due to the initial failure, but must provide a reminder to check the status of thr on a weekly or monthly basis for awhile.

Possible resolution: I had uninstalled battery method control ACP compatible MIcrosoft Vista, update the BIOS on the HP site and restarted. I then installed all updates from Microsoft and this morning the battery is 68% and evacuates well. I will continue to run the batteru at 25% and then 100%.

Again, thank you for your advice on that. I have will certainly keep my eye on this and will post more information in this thread to someone else in the future who might suffer from a similar problem.

    Thank you

  • No sound no issue on 64 bit versions of Windows 8 - Compaq CQ60 - 140EV

    Hello guys!

I have the following problem after installation of 64-bit Windows 8:

Independent of the version - home page, pro or business, on my Compaq CQ60 - 140EV speakers produce no sound, not even on the external speaker no sound. In Device Manager, everything seems to be ok. With all versions 32 bit Windows-8 or with previews of 64-bit version of W8-developer preview, overview of consumer sound etc work correctly. But with any details of Windows 8: home, pro or business there is no noise.

    I tried the following:

Reinstall windows via USB, DVD - same issue, the installation drive in mode-same WIN7 compatibility question, installation driver followed problem update-even Microsoft, installation driver on the system to dual-boot (WIN8 and WIN7) - the computer find drive WIN7 and installed, but once again no sound. All other functions work fine except the sound. And the odd point is that the sound does not work only on the 64-bit version and only in the final version.

Can you help me please to solve this problem?

    Thank you very much!

  • Compaq CQ60 tired?

Hi all, I have a compaq CQ60 who starts, the fan turns on, the power light Trackpad light and turns on a wi - fi connection and all, nothing on the screen and no the all HARD disk activity.

I tried the usual, hard reset, without HARD drive, No Ram, CDR and still nothing

I tried the Ram and the HARD drive in my other PC, and both work well

Tried the Ram and the HARD of PC drive and others in the CQ60 and still the same, nothing on the screen and no disc HARD activity or flashing caps lock Num or Num Lock lights

I'm almost 100% sure that it is the motherboard? Is that what look like a fair assessment

Thanks for any advice on this matter, regards. Mark

    Hi, Mark:

It may be worth it if you don't mind tearing up this whole thing.

    Here is the Service Manual:

I don't know how many used one costs. Check the good ol' ' eBay, I guess.

  • Upgrade CPU laptop CQ60-211DX

I have a CQ60-211DX laptop.  It uses a processor Intel Celeron 585 2.16 GHz core simple.  It is a processor Socket 9.

I want to know if it is possible at this level to a processor Socket 9 better, such as the Pentium Dual Core or Core 2 Duo.  My main concern is what families of processor will support the motherboard.

My research so far indicates that the Celeron has a max of 31W TDP.  The Pentium Dual Core T3200 (2.0 GHz) and T3400 (2.16 Ghz) have a max TDP of 35W and the Core 2 Duo has a maximum TDP of 10 w.  So, the Pentium Dual Core would generate a little more heat than the Celero, but I think he might be able to handle the additional 4W?  The Core 2 Duo, on the other hand, almost cold.

The Celeron and Pentium have 1 MB of L2 cache, but the Core 2 Duo has 2 MB.  The Core 2 Duo has a pace much more slow clock (1.5 Ghz), but I understand that it is still faster than the Pentium with the effectiveness of the architecture.

I don't know how the FSB affects things, but the Celeron and Pentium are 667 MHz while the Core 2 Dio is 533 MHz.

There are several other statistics I do not understand.  A large part of the information I have just the pages that follow.  Also, I have confirmed with a representative of Intel Celeron 585 is, indeed, Socket P.

    http://Ark.Intel.com/compare.aspx?IDs=35583, 37160,33920,36681,

    http://Ark.Intel.com/search.aspx?q=socket%20P&t=ProductGroup

    http://Ark.Intel.com/ProductCollection.aspx?series=28964

    http://Ark.Intel.com/ProductCollection.aspx?series=23517

It seems that Intel does not often stated that a processor is Socket P, but Sockets supported including the PPGA478 seems to be what I'm looking for.  Not entirely sure, though.  There seems to be the T7000 and T8000 T9000 series processors that support PPGA478, also.

    http://Ark.Intel.com/product.aspx?ID=27255&processor=T7200&spec-codes=SL9SF, SL9SL

    http://Ark.Intel.com/product.aspx?ID=27256&processor=T7400&spec-codes=SL9SE, SL9SK, SLGFJ, SLGFV

    http://Ark.Intel.com/product.aspx?ID=27257&processor=T7600&spec-codes=SL9SD, SL9SJ

Although T8000 and T9000 models all have much higher FSB speeds.  Yet once again, I don't know enough to understand what effect this has on compatibility, so I guess I should stay with 667 MHz.

Finally, I guess the U7000 series is more advanced than any of the T series, but other TPD and VID lower voltage max quantity, all other specs seem lower (FSB, clock speed, L2 cache memory).

Soldering is not a problem.  I don't know if my processor is welded on or not (have not yet cracked open and will not until I know that it is worth), but even if this is the case, I have a soldering iron, solder Wick and the skills to remove the welding without damaging the components.

So what I've been able to reconstruct so far.  If someone could let me know which processors can handle the motherboard on my laptop, I would really appreciate it.  If someone could suggest what processors would offer the best performance gain, would be great, too.

    Thank you!

    Luke

    Hello

What follows is a listed one CPU upgrade CPU option for your product.

Processor Mobile Intel Core 2 Duo T5850 - 2.16 GHz (Merom-MV, at 667 MHz front side bus, 2 MB cache level 2 total, taken Micro-FC-PGA, 35W TDP, 65nm)

If you plan to upgrade limit you your purchase know CPU compatible and functional. This way you will save yourself the disappointment of an incompatible CPU installation.

As notebook BIOS do not have many options tweakable, which disqualifies basically anything but what the manufacturer offers for upgrades in option.

the CPU I have listed and linked to is probably the best you can do for your laptop.

    Kind regards

  • Broken screen, Presario CQ60-211DX

My child has left the computer with the cord wrapped around his leg. The computer fell off the table and display press the edge of a wooden chair on the way to the floor. Now, it looks like a broken window (a serrated line on screen) with bright colors as a screen above the line, black below. So basically, the display is physically destroyed.  Ruughly how much would a replacement cost of the screen, how would get us done, etc.? Or we'd better throw and buy a whole new machine? Or the warranty would cover it at all?

The computer is a laptop Presario CQ60-211DX he had for all of 6 weeks.

    Thank you

The only guarantee that would cover it is a physical damage insurance. If you bought the guarantee improved by a retailer that coverage could apply, and I think that HP also offers only and you would remember if you bought because it's very very salty. The standard warranty doesn't cover any. Now, the repair. The price of the screens came down a bit in the last few years. Here is one on eBay for about $130:

    screen from eBay $130

It's about the average price that we see now in $250 not too long.

I have not replaced a CQ60 screen but even the dv9000, his ancestor direct and very difficult to work on, was easy to manage for an amateur in replacing the screen. We can get you the service manual and maybe it's a 45-minute job. If you ever built a model as a kid, can turn a screwdriver carefully and can follow the plans, you can do it. Otherwise, the work is likely to be another $125 or more at a computer store. The best way to do this is to get the screen then start the call around for the best price and tell them that you already have the screen. You don't want to delete the old first of all that it is better to find the screen by the model of the screen rather than the model of the laptop because so many manufacturers now use the exact same screens so you can do a wider search. Once remove you the old one, you will see this is not too difficult to put the new one back in.

Even the worst $ 250 or so with work, it's much less expensive than a new laptop. Just don't let people tell you it's going to be $ 400 or more, which is heard.

  • is the AC adapter for example 463958-001 for compaq cq60 equipped with an output connector dual voltage?

is the AC adapter for example 463958-001 for compaq cq60 equipped with an output connector dual voltage? So I can't use the universal ac connectors?

Your laptop will accept universal power adaptors, you just want just to make sure it's a 65-W AC adapter.

  • Compaq Presario CQ60-211DX: Compaq Presario CQ60 Motherboard

Hello!  My wife's cell phone can no longer pull a load of the power supply.  I tried different batteries and bricks of different powers.  Free of charge.  I want to try to replace the motherboard (thinking it is maybe the power supply is not working.)  Can someone tell me what is the correct model number for my motherboard?  I see many there to buy including 498462-001 and 501266-001.  Or the other of them are the right pair?

    Thank you

    Tom.

    Hello

501266-001 is correct as shown in the following list:

  • Compaitible processors for Compaq Presario CQ60-211DX

So I plan to upgrade my processor computers for the delay I get (it's a single core Celeron 585 clocked at 2.16 ghz)

Now I want to upgrade to an Intel Core 2 Duo clocked @ 2.00ghz (7300), that would be defienitly thrust my performance. It has the same socket but I'm not sure what bios go or if its going to work.

I heard that this laptop supports this series 7xxx and nothing below or above. This is false.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello:

Because your laptop with a celeron processor, it has the Intel GL40 chipset.

This means that the best processor you can install is the Pentium T3400, because the GL 40 chipset can run than processors with front side bus to 667 MHz.

See the manual on the link below, Chapter 1, page 1-1.

  • Notebook Compaq CQ60 - unable to connect to wireless broadband services

    Hello

I'm going up the walls of the last week, have spent days trying to solve the below problem.

Basically just moved house and my cell phone girlfriends got wide Eircom broadband installed, connected automatically, so that my Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook Windows Vista will not connect.

I checked if many different forums are trying to solve this problem, but without result im afraid... it seems that there is an excellent internet connection... but can not get on the internet because it says 'local access network unidentified only.

    The router I have is "atheros AR5007 802. ' 11 b / g WiFi adapter ", and the o/s I have on my laptop Windows Vista 32 bit.

In our previous residence we had UPC broadband, and I had no problems at all.

I have very little knowledge of computers, so appreciate your kind patience in advance

Would be very grateful if someone may be able to help out me here!

    Thank you very much!

    Hello:

Install this driver and you should be fine.

The wireless in your laptop card is notorious for not being able to connect to the internet with the latest routers.
