Hey, my Hp compaq dx2300 format microtour came with a core2duo E4400 processor, I had an E8400 CPU because they share the same socket LGA compatible on the motherboard and it fits perfectly, only the pc does not start, then read around some sites say it is supported by my MSI motherboard A 0, 90, others only reported up to E6700 what I don't understand, is why it wouldn't work? I BIOS v1.14 (latest news on the list of dated drivers '2008'!) and can't seem to find a solution for this, please tell me what to do I don't want to be stuck with a CPU, I can't use cause it isn't a way to map mother read it, thanks in advance!

    Hello:

Unfortunately, you're stuck with an E8400 which won't work in this PC.  See page 4.

Here are links to the quickspecs for your model.

    http://h18000.www1.HP.com/products/QuickSpecs/12668_na/12668_na.PDF

An E8400 processor will not work in any case with x chipset Intel 94 or 96 x chipset.

In order to run an E8400 into a PC, there need an Intel 3 series chipset or 4 of the series.

Of course a processor must adapt to an outlet, but is not the only criterion needed to make it work.

  • HP Compaq dx2300 format microtour missing PCI Simple Communications Controller Driver (Modem?). WinXP

    Hello

I had to restore a HP Compaq dx2300 format microtour Win XP system from the recovery partition.

Everything seemed to work fine except no driver found for PCI Simple communication controller.

There was no modem in Device Manager.

I downloaded the driver for the modem on the HP website, but it will not identify / install the driver.

Remains of the error. (no driver found for PCI Simple communication controller.)

    Any Suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

    My apologies to Paul.

Your label says HP Expert 2014. I made a mistaken assumption that you were part of HP.

I agree that it probably isn't a standard part of HP. I also looked at their specs and the database driver.
I tried to use never version on the HP web site for their standard model for Agere 56 K PCI Modem driver. He did not consider it as one appropriate driver.

However, I could only identify a compatible driver using a new pilot identifier utility (new to me at least).

    It seems to work.

I think I'll keep it in my toolbox in the future.

  • HP Compaq dx2300 format microtour

I have a HP Compaq dx2300 microtour with the following BIOS:
    Phoenix Technologies, LTD MS7336 1.08, 25/05/2007

I want to upgrade BIOS, but apparently there are no BIOS version unless
you are running Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
Since I have Windows 7 installed and working, can someone point me to an update of the BIOS
    It works on my computer?

    Thank you.

    Xlator1, welcome to the forum.

The only way that you can update the BIOS is to return the computer to its original configuration. including the operating system.  I don't think that HP will be an update of the BIOS for Windows 7, if there is not a list currently.

  • dx2300 Microtowe: drivers

I am terribly in need of the original disk for my HP Compaq dx2300 microtour.  I'm not sure I got one when I bought this computer... If I did, I'm not.  Anyone know where I could find the origianl driver disk?   tried to download the drivers appropriate... even went back to Windows XP 32 bit... thinking that can help... but it didn't.  My biggtest problem is the network driver.  I'd be happy to buy a disc, if anyone knows where I can find a.  Thank you. I'll watch this forum for answers.

The dx2300 MT was originally Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

There are 3 third-party providers that list a driver, as shown below, his modem/NIC specific.

  • Copy an old hard drive for Compaq laptop.

I have a Compaq Armada 7380DMT with a noisy (noise that feels like the dentist worn forest is in your head) drive hard 4gig. I want to copy it to a disk good 6gig, with diagnostic partition.

What utility actually * operation * so that when I install the new drive it starts in ye olde Windows 95 b instead of saying 'Missing Operating system '?

I tried Paragon Drive Copy 9 Pro with the copy of defining raw partition and Dubaron DiskImage. Or copied the disc correctly so it could start on partition 2, but he could start on the diagnostic partition if I held F10.

The diagnostic partition is FAT16 with a very bare Windows 3.1 on it, with the Compaq utility as shell instead of program manager program. The other partitions are a primary FAT32 and an extended with a logical partition to FAT32 partition.

The PC that I have to do the copy with host is a laptop computer running 32 bit Vista Ultimate SP1 and a couple of USB adapters IDE laptop.

PS, I was do this kind of things computer since nearly 27 years and still have not seen all "fun and interesting" ways to complicate the life of a tech computer companies have set up!

I couldn't find any disk copy utility that could copy all partitions AND create the thing correctly. Here's what I figure out to make it work.

    1. with the original disc in, press F10 when booting to access the diagnostic partition. Use the options to make the diagnostic and installation floppies.

    2. make a startup with Windows 95 disk, then make a copy on C:\ of MSDOS. SYS and change the name to MSDOS. BAK

    3. right click MS-DOS. BAK, click Poperties and uncheck the box system, hidden and read-only. Copy MSDOS. BAK on the startup disk.

    4. install the new VIRGIN hard drive and start with the diagnostic disk. It will take you through the implementation of a diagnostic partition and install the configuration files / Compaq PC diagnosis.

    5. Insert the startup disk and restart. Use FDISK to create partitions. PARTITION 2 MARK AS ACTIVE. It is 2. TWO. Not 1!

    6. Restart then FORMAT C:/s so the file system will be installed. To format all the others that you have created.

    7 A:\>attrib c:\msdos.sys s h - r

    8 A:\>copy msdos.bak c:\msdos.sys

    9 A:\>attrib msdos.sys + s + h + r

    10. remove the disc, connect it and the old drive to another PC by any means. USB > IDE adapters will work.

    11. on the old disk, use Explorer to go to the volume, which Windows 95 is installed.

    12. you need NOT hide all files and to display the name of Windows file extensions.

    13. press Ctrl a to select all files.

14 hold CTRL and click on IO COMMAND.COM. SYS AND MSDOS. SYS to deselect them.

15 drag with the RIGHT button of the mouse on the new drive, release and click on copy.

    16. when it's done copying, stop and then install the new hard drive in the laptop. Start up and you should be to the old windows on a new drive.

This process works even to switch to Windows 95 and 98 on a new disc using the Win 9 x computer is running. You must move the page file to the root of C:, or to another drive is not in the Windows folder. Format the new drive with the /s switch and when you copy everything, deselect MSDOS. SYS, so it will copy the basic version FORMAT installed.

It took me a lot of research to find the last disk of Compaq PC Diagnostics making SoftPaq to the Armada 7300 series, because HP does not have it on the downloads page for the driver of the laptop. This is the version 10.40 a, sp16085 number ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp16001-16500/ here the version removes the diagnostic partition configuration option. 10.39 version has, sp12906, keeps the installation program. It's here. FTP://FTP.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp12501-13000/

I found these SoftPaq numbers on this page. http://Priede.BF.Lu.lv/FTP/pub/OS/Datori/Compaq/Armada_4150/utility/sp16085.html

  • Creation of recovery without software disc (dx2300 HP; Vista family)

I have a HP/Compaq dx2300 running Vista Home, and I want to make recovery disks.  Unfortunately, the HP Recovery software has been removed from this computer.  The recovery partition is still in place.  Is it possible to make a recovery together since the disk partition without using the HP software?  I prefer not to use Windows backup, because it seems to take 17 DVD to back it up.  Thank you.

    Jerry

Imaging software would take a complete snapshot of your C: partition and restore it back to the State it was in at time of imagery, complete with files and the software added. The imagery he created in a compressed format DVD so not all necessary because Windows Backup_which cannot always restore your PC to a State completely from work in case of hard drive failure or a corrupt non bootable OS.

My image is made for USB external hard drive, or can be done for 5 DVD.

Since this is a class machine business you have Active Chat where you can ask a set of recovery option.

  • Compaq Presario CQ5500Y: Compaq Presario SSD upgrade

Original 500 GB drive HARD shows signs of failure eminent.

I cloned successfully the reader to a new 400 GB disk using NORTON GHOST.

(I know this drive is smaller than the original, but less than 30GB was used on the original)

Anyway, the new drive would not start.

Assuming that the problem may come from the BONES associated with the license, I ordered all of the Compaq recovery disks.

Meanwhile the recovery disk set arrive, I bought a 120 GB Sandisk SSD.

(Again, I know that the 120 GB SSD is smaller than the original 500 GB HARD disc that came with the computer, but I do not plan to fill even 50%).

Anyway, The Recovery Disc Set arrived and I tried to use it on the new 120 GB SSD Sandisk card.

The process seems to be okay, all 3 discs of the series seem to copy and then the computer restarts and a screen displaying the files fly across the screen from one folder to the other stays there forever.

I waited 15 hours and came back and I can still see:

Fly across the screen, files from one folder to another folder.

The drive activity light flashes, but of course, there is a problem.

    Some possible facts/related information:

The SSD is detected in the BIOS.

The good SSD checks, a "Smart" BIOS Diagnostics

I can't find anywhere in the BIOS to disable the AHCI, it only shows SATA or IDE.

Current Bios version is 5.5.5, and I couldn't find an updated BIOS anywhere.

Current memory (RAM) is 4 GB (2x2gb), which was an upgrade because the machine was purchased.

Can someone tell me please how to get beyond this problem?

    Greetings,

I use the Paragon Professional Disk Imaging software.

Try Macrium Reflect free. Disk cloning is also included in the free version.

    See you soon!

  • dx2300, beep at startup

I bought a computer format used DX2300 microtour. It worked wonderfully to home sellers. We have removed the son/cables and I took it home. When I reassembled everything I have no action on the (dual) monitors, no lghts on the wireless mouse or keyboard. The CPU is a single long beep on startup. The only thing I did for her was clean dust from the front vents and fans. I think that the seller had an external hard drive of 1 t bytes, but other than that, II think it is anyway. Any suggestions?

    Hi sam722,

Enter the BIOS (F10 at startup of the tap) and verify that the HARD disk and the memory is correctly recognized.

Reinstall the memory modules and check the connections of the internal cables (especially the HARD drive). Check the AC voltage selection to check that it is set properly. Check the connection of the AC to the PC power cable.

Something may have jarred loose during the move.

Try to start with a monitor.

Here are the instructions to get the latest version of HP Insight Diagnostics (image): it may not help in this moment but can be useful in the future.

  • Compaq Presario: Card mother SR5050NX update using SP37378.exe

Help, I need an exe file to return the BIOS on my Compaq Presario, model SR5050NX, product number RX897AA-ABA, build software 72NAv3PrA2 to the specification of the manufacturer. The BIOs vendor is Phoeniz, release date: 20/04/2007, version of BIOs 5.17 string.

I was updating the CPU so that I can install Windows 7 and I went to the website of Hp on the model SR5050NX and SP37378.exe.Seems downloaded and installed to give me version 5.23, however, when I rebooted the computer, I had the 'launch Startup Repair' which automatically said that he could not fix the CPU. I then use F11, Recovery Manager, who said "Detected Root Cause, current installation failure" great answer? Then, I used my Hardware Diagnostic Tools diagnostics bootable CD for Vista backup and reinstall all the software without result.

Seems that SP37378.exe screwed up my computer, especially when the computer has worked fine before using the exe file.

Logically, you would have downloaded the sp37378.exe on a CD and then run it from there. That would be the best avenue.   In addition, WIN7 is not supported with drivers HP on the SR5050nx.  This decision was made four years after the origin of the product Vista OS in 2007.

  • Computer laptop Compaq could not start

My laptop model is Compaq Presario CQ40-502AU. I used it for over 2.5 years.

Recently, the laptop could not start from time to time. The LED flashes to keep, but the laptop does not start.

    Referring to this article:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01732674

I preformed hard reset and manged to get the laptop starts. However, the problem after several days reappered and perform a hard reset is not enough to start the laptop. Sometimes, I need to do the hard reset many times to start the laptop.

I recorded a video on the State of Flash of the LED.

    https://SkyDrive.live.com/redir.aspx?CID=4aa65a2248b908f1 & RESID = 4AA65A2248B908F1% 21412 & parid = 4AA65A2...

I don't know if it qualifies as keeps flashing indicating the problem on my adapter?

Someone please help me on this. Thank you!

    Greetings,

Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery from the laptop. Once this is done, press in and hold the power button on the PC for a minute. Only reconnect the AC adapter and try to turn the unit back on. If this problem persists, turn off the device by pressing the power button for 8 seconds. Disconnect the power adapter and the battery. Try to start the PC again.

If the PC starts, during the Compaq logo, press the ESC key to enter the boot menu. While in the boot menu press the diagnostic mode (should be F10) and run a diagnostics of complete systems. That should tell you which device is a failure. I hope it's nothing serious, maybe a defective battery.

If your system seems to be stable during the startup and shutdown not randomly on its own, I would try to update the BIOS once started in Windows by downloading on:

Don't forget to follow directions exactly as displayed on the HP site.

  • Compaq presario v6000 v6409tu disk hard bios self-test fail

    Hello

Windows xp no my pc compaq v6000 not starting and bluescreen showed a couple of times. I ran the BIOS (phoenix) disk hard diagnosis and the test failed. When I opened my HDD I noticed green rust as deposits into the connector on the hard drive. After cleaning with a brush, computer loaded XP successfully. But an hour later, while I was surfing in mozilla suddenly the mouse pointer started late and showed computer blue screen saying that windows has been closed down to prevent damage.

I would be grateful if someone can tell me if it's a software problem or hard drive error. If I need to replace my hard drive, what are my options, for example. rpm, capacity, provider? Thank you.

The only way you could have rusted copper into the connector on the hard drive is if liquid got in there so I am reluctant to try to speculate how much damage has been done. I remove the hard drive and connect it to the outside to another computer and run chkdsk on it to see if the drive itself is bad. As long as there is a problem on the part of connector and the interface with the motherboard cannot really trust the onboard hard drive Diagnostics. You could also get an own another new hard drive adapter.

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/new-Compaq-Presario-C700-F500-F700-V6000-SATA-laptop-hard-drive-connector-/161297513053?PT=US_Drive_Bay_Caddies & Hash = item258e14ba5d

If it does not turn on the hard drive is bad, you can replace it with any laptop SATA drive no more than 9.5 mm thick.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822145587

Above is a good thing. It is slim (7mm) but it will still go into the caddy and connect to the motherboard with the connecting piece. If the hard drive itself is always good, and you replace the connector piece but he always bluescreens, so I would not spend money on a new hard drive. I would say that there was damage to the motherboard.

  • Partition HP_TOOLS after update from HP System Diagnostics (UEFI)?

    Hello

I bought a Compaq HP 6730 s about 2 and one and a half years. Last time I installed Windows was in 2009, when I switched to Win7 Pro x 64. I usually keep my system up to date so I decided to use HP Softpaq Download Manager to see what is new because I have not done in a year about. By updating HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) I noticed the installer to begin creating a new partition using DISKPART. It has 2 GB of E:\ and created a new partition HP_TOOLS (H:\).  First of all, was it really necessary given that I had only 3.5 GB of free space on E:\? In addition, the old version of HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) has not used a separate partition. Secondly: is it really necessary to keep or is the only partition something temporary created to facilitate the update process (although this makes no sense to me), meanning can I simply delete and merge into E:\.

Third: in the case where HP_TOOLS is not delete recomanded, at least hide by using the local Group Policy Editor?

    Thank you!

The latest version of the installer of HP System Diagnostics (UEFI) gives an option for installation on drive hard or on a USB flash drive according to your needs. I personally recommend not not to delete the partition HP_TOOLS as its useful during the process of updating the BIOS in case if you want to do a restore etc.

HP_TOOLS partition is also useful in F2 (the System Diagnostics) market in the case of any emergency if necessary.

  • Buy recovery disks NOT working - Compaq sr2020nx

    SYSTEM SPECS:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00749174

    ORIGINAL PROBLEM:

Hello.  I am working on a friends Compaq sr2020nx PC where the hard drive gone bad.  The disk was diagnosed as bad that he's not INTELLIGENT diagnostics in the BIOS.  It is not available when booting from a live Linux or as a slave drive in 2 different computers running one XP Pro Windows 7 other.  The hard drive is definitely bad.  He had not burned the recovery discs before the disk leave so I ordered the recovery disc from Compaq/HP for $15.

    8

The system came with XP MCE 2005 64-bit.  The disks that HP/Compaq let me order were the 64 Windows XP MCE SP2 recovery.  There are 3 DVD provided.  2 are recovery disks and 1 is complementary.

The new drive is a Western Digital SATA 320 GB.

    WHAT DOES NOT WORK NOW

With the new installed hard drive I boot from the #1 system recovery disk.  I get a message that says "no operating system installed or damaged partition.  Press 'R' to perform a full restore of the PC. »

    I press R.

I get a message on the bottom of the screen that reads, "Preparation of partition recovery - please wait." with a progress bar under.  That completes it.

Next message I get is 'start the PC recovery.'

The screen then goes to the word "COMPAQ" in big red letters on the screen with a small progress red bar that scrolls under it.  (Kind of like when XP starts when you have the "XP" logo and the Green scroll bar just below.)

COMPAQ screen remains for almost an hour before I get a blue error screen: 0x0000007B that reads something to the effect of Windows stopped to keep from harm the system runs chkdks etc...  According to HP/Compaq support pages

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/bph07144 I'm supposed to try to redo recovery.  Same thing is going to always ending in the Blue error screen.

    I TRIED THINGS

That's the problem.  I can't get the purchased recovery disks to restore the system.  I tried cleaning the DVD, using a different DVD player, but always the same.  I am able to install and run Linux on the hard drive and the computer works fine.  I can install Vista 64-bit on the hard drive and it works fine.

I checked the hard drive after you start the recovery process and it fails.  It seems that the recovery disc creates a FAT32 partition of 8.5 GB and copies on some files.  It leaves the rest of the disk unallocated as if there is never that far in the recovery process.  I tried recovery after having 1 partition and format.  The recovery disk when it is run again will create the 8.5 GB FAT32 partition and leave the rest of the disk unallocated.  I tried to create a single partition to the unallocated space, and then rallied but still not the COMPAQ screen for an hour and then fail.

At this point I don't know what else to do.  It seems to me there is something wrong with the image discs that Compaq has sent me.  Something to do with the drivers SATA is not on it?

    Any ideas?  Thank you.

I solved the problem by using a 200 GB IDE hard drive, I had in another computer.  The recovery disks worked fine with this drive.  There is nothing wrong with the Western Digital 320 GB disk but for some reason it wouldn't work with the recovery discs in the Compaq.  Maybe it's a SATA I vs SATA II issue or a driver problem with restore disks.

  • Presario SR5710F needs HP/Compaq BIOS flashed.

I have a Presario SR5710F I try to restore to the factory specifications.  The original hard drive has failed while I don't have access to the original Win Vista 32 bit OS.   The SR5710F display the following information:

    Basic version: V6.0

    BIOS revision: 5.27 10/06/2008

    Model number: ALONPAV

    Product number: D5468AT-ABA

    Build ID: (blank or empty)

A search for update the BIOS of this machine is in an executable file named: sp40911.exe.  This file is listed as version 5.27 dated 2008-12-04.

Obviously, what is on the system is at odds with what the support page says who should be there.

Is there a method to Flash the BIOS of HP/Compaq without booting in windows vista?

Otherwise, what is the next step?

    Thanks in advance.  Terrence

Another thing to note... If HP/Compaq logo does not appear at startup, a BIOS option named "Start Diagnostics screen" can be activated. 'Start Diagnostics screen' function replaces the screen of the HP or Compaq logo with a splash screen that quickly displays the startup status messages. Maybe that's the reason why you do not get a HP/Compaq splash screen.
