You must remove the hard drive and get a hard drive of the computer laptop usb adapter and plug it into another computer to copy and paste the files that you want on the other computer.

Here is the Manual:

Your manual

Remove the hard drive appears on pages 2-9 to 2-10

This is the kind of card you need:

laptop hard drive box

With an external box that you can use the drive as a portable storage drive after you delete the files you want or keep stored on the old disk of the laptop.

Good luck

  • Compaq Presario CQ60: hard disk for presario cq60

    Hello!

I hope someone can help me because I have searched everywhere for the answer and just can't find it...

In any case, anyone know which hard drive comes with the Compaq Presario CQ60?  Which means, I've had the computer for a while and I'm back from the service (not HP) and was missing a memory card, so I checked the HARD drive and noticed that it is a Toshiba.  Anyone know if this is what usually comes with this model?

    I appreciate the help.

The laptop will come with one of several brands of hard drive.

It all depends on what HP had available in the supply chain at the time to the needs for specific laptop when the laptop is being manufactured.

  • The Compaq Presario 2100 laptop SSD upgrade

I have a laptop Compaq Presario 2100 it was brand new in 2003. I have a newer laptop, but a train trying to upgrade the Presario 2100 as much as possible. This is the kind of a project now and I also want to get as much as possible out of it. I heard that SSDS are super fast and would improve performance a bit. Anyone did the upgrade to an SSD for their Persario 2100 notebook PC series already? All entries are appreciated, in particular information about the product that was used for the upgrade. If no one did, so nobody knows if it is possible to upgrade the Presario 2100 series laptop PC to an SSD?

    Thank you

    Huck

Believe it or not, the maintenance manual is always available.

    Manual

The Presario 2100 uses old school PATA (EIDE) hard disks that are different from those of the SSD SATA see you more often on the market. However, there is a PATA SSD. They cost a bit more per concert, of course. I put a PATA SSD in a laptop on the same vintage as the Presario 2100 and it does significantly improve start-up time and overall performance, but talk about the proverbial earrings on a pig!

This is a 64 GB SSD PATA that would be perfect for the Presario 2100, but $ 90:

On eBay you will probably find 32 gig for a little less versions.

  • Compaq presario v6000 v6409tu disk hard bios self-test fail

    Hello

Windows xp no my pc compaq v6000 not starting and bluescreen showed a couple of times. I ran the BIOS (phoenix) disk hard diagnosis and the test failed. When I opened my HDD I noticed green rust as deposits into the connector on the hard drive. After cleaning with a brush, computer loaded XP successfully. But an hour later, while I was surfing in mozilla suddenly the mouse pointer started late and showed computer blue screen saying that windows has been closed down to prevent damage.

I would be grateful if someone can tell me if it's a software problem or hard drive error. If I need to replace my hard drive, what are my options, for example. rpm, capacity, provider? Thank you.

The only way you could have rusted copper into the connector on the hard drive is if liquid got in there so I am reluctant to try to speculate how much damage has been done. I remove the hard drive and connect it to the outside to another computer and run chkdsk on it to see if the drive itself is bad. As long as there is a problem on the part of connector and the interface with the motherboard cannot really trust the onboard hard drive Diagnostics. You could also get an own another new hard drive adapter.

If it does not turn on the hard drive is bad, you can replace it with any laptop SATA drive no more than 9.5 mm thick.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822145587

Above is a good thing. It is slim (7mm) but it will still go into the caddy and connect to the motherboard with the connecting piece. If the hard drive itself is always good, and you replace the connector piece but he always bluescreens, so I would not spend money on a new hard drive. I would say that there was damage to the motherboard.

  • Compaq Presario SR1150NX: Error, disk Compaq recovery dead

Hello, I have a desktop Compaq Presario SR1150NX of 2005. Everything works well in it and we emptied dust not for long. But then, one day I went to start it it says a critical system file was missing. I'm confused at first. After half an hour, creating a USB disk only to find it didn't work, I then had to use the Windows XP Recovery Console. Then after I fixed it it still didn't start because it couldint find the file. But when I start the computer, it shows me that, if I press F10, it boots into system recovery mode. OT started and told me that I could boot into windows xp system recovery. But in the middle of this, the computer overheats and shuts down. When I tried to turn it on again it gave me a disc error AND when I boot in recoervy, it's just bluescreens. Now when I turn on the computer, it does nothing.

Is there any where where I could download a recoervy tool to open the hard drive in order to get the data on the drive and get a new drive? Or get a Windows recovery disc?

    Any help is the Apprecited!

Remove the disk from the desktop.

    Buy

    USB 2.0 for HDD SATA/IDE adapter 2.5/3.5/5.25IN drives w / adapter

    See: http://www.ncix.com/detail/usb2-0-to-sata-ide-drive-adapter-a3-17762.htm

and connect your hard disk with this adapter to a USB port on your computer.

When you connect, Windows will ask your permission to run 'check disk' ('CHKDSK') to review and fix any problem of file system.

I think that the corrupt currently-system files on the hard drive is causing startup problems you reported.

Re-connect the desktop "repaired" disk drive, and then try again.

  • HP Compaq Presario V5000 Hard drive caddy missing

Good day everyone, my father bought a Compaq Presario V5000 to a garage sale and sent it here in the Philippines. to the arrival of the package, I tried to run the laptop, but diagnoses in bios option said that there is no HARD drive installed. subsequently done I discovered that not only the HARD drive broke, but the caddy was missing as well. is it advisable to use a newly purchased HARD drive without the caddy? Another question, about the specified capacity and speed, acoorcing to the specifications listed in the internet, this unit can handle up to 120 GB of HARD disk, at 4200 RPM / min. that explains why the Windows XP Setup program said that there wasn't any see hard drives when I tried to use a larger HARD drive capacity? What speed? Let's say I have a 120 GB HARD drive but speed is 5400 RPM, will it still work? Thank you very much

  • Compaq Presario S6100NX hard drive replacement

I have a Compaq Presario S6100NX desktop computer. A few days ago, the hard drive does not in it and now I have to go buy a new one. I preference as a used one that works (EBay) or find a good deal at Amazon or Newegg.com. Here is a link to the specs of my computer... (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00055286)

Now, it's the hard drive I found on EBay: (http://cgi.ebay.com/80GB-HDD-Hard-Drive-Desktop-PC-Internal-IDE-ATA-80-GB-/380258524610?pt=LH_Defaul...)

Make the current hard drive and number is:

Sorry about the back - and forth report but any useful comment.

Yes, one on ebay will work, when you remove the old drive, check the jumper setting, be sure the new drive is jumper the same before you install it.

Beware, it is sold WITHOUT WARRANTY "such what."

  • Secondary hard disk access

After formatting drive (drive 0), and re - install Windows XP, I find no more the second hard disk (disk 1).

The two discs are identified in bios, but only the main will appear in "my computer". In disk management, disk 1 is shown as foreign and dynamic. The only option is to convert it to a basic disk that will remove all information.

What are my options to save the 30 GB of information on this subject.

What types of drives are these, SATA, IDE?

You have the jumpers set correctly, if they have? Master or slave, Cable Select No.

The disk hard disk 1 was working fine before this?

You can start with a bootable floppy and see if he can see both hard drives.

  • How can I replace a compaq presario C762NR hard drive and reinstall windows?

My friend brought me his computer and said that he would not start. I tried to boot into safe mode and normal mode and it would not work. It would simply flash a blue screen and restart. After you run a test it is determined that the hard drive has failed. A new laptop is not an option at this point.

I bought a new hard drive and I ordered the HP recovery disk. What are the appropriate steps to complete this replacement?

The computer is out of warranty and so is the hard drive. The computer has Windows Vista on it. The failed hard drive was 160 gb, 2.5 ", SATA 1.5 gb/s, 8 MB cache. The news is the same except that it is SATA 3 gb/s.

This is my first time, replacing a hard drive. I'm confident about it, but I want to just make sure I do it correctly.

    Hello

All you have to do after replacing the HARD drive is the following.

Start Notepad and open the CD/DVD drive.  Insert the first disc of recovery.  Hold the power button until the laptop stops.  Press the power button to start the laptop that should now boot from the recovery disk and start the recovery process.

    Kind regards

  • Hard disk access

I had the HARD drive failure and installed a replacement for labour maching.  I installed the old drive to get some useful files on the drive.  The computer recognizes the drive as drive E.  When I try to access the drive it says that is not accessible access is denied.

Is there an easy way to access this drive to try to recover the data?  Thank you

The key is to know what is the file format that the older player is used for example ntfs, fat, or fat32.

  • Attached external HARD disk access

I recently removed a HDD from an old PC and put it in an envelope. An attempt to access certain documents, it is "access denied." I tried to change the permissions in the Security tab, but they handed to hidden / locked.

    Hello

A gray folder appears usually when a file is 'hidden' and you have enabled the option to show files and folders hidden in Folder Options. Not being is not able to view the content of this file is most likely a permissions problem. The solution to this depends on if you have XP Home Edition or XP Professional.

Method 1: If you have XP Professional.

"How to disable the file sharing simple and how to set permissions on a shared folder in Windows XP"

If you have XP Home Edition, you can start safe mode (press F8 at startup) and log in as administrator to access the 'Security' tab or, Alternatively, use the CACLS command from a command prompt window (start-> Run-> "cmd").

Method 2: How to set, view, change, or remove special permissions for files and folders in Windows XP.

  • Compaq Presario V3000 hard drive question

My computer can not detect the hard drive and I want to replace it.  I know it's a 60 GB hard drive, but that's all the info I can get on it.  How can I tell if it's a SATA drive or not?

    Thanks for your help!

Remove the hard drive. There will be a label on the disc that will specify its type. It is the fastest and most reliable to determine what type it is.

    Kind regards

  • SP3 XP hangs when disk access

XP crashes after a few seconds during disk access, even when running in Mode safe or started at the command prompt, but faster in normal mode

I guess you are talking about hard disk access and not a CD/DVD disc access. If I'm not mistaken, your hard drive is probably faulty and you should test it.

Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

    http://www.ImgBurn.com

    http://www.Seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/SeaTools/seatooldreg
    http://Seagate.custkb.com/Seagate/CRM/selfservice/search.jsp?docid=201271 (how-to)

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. The physical tests fail, replace it.

On tests of hardware failures often alleged swapping parts by parts checked. If you can not do the test yourself and/or are uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad).
