HP Custom Image for ESXi 5.0.0 Update 1 vs VMware provided

We use models of generation of servers, ProLiant DL HP 5, 6 and 7 to our environment vSphere. Someone at - it experience with the use of the HP device provided ISO vs VMware?

I've been using VMware images provided and for moving to ESXi 5.0U1, I am trying to determine whether to use images of HP now.

Suggestions, comments, and or PROs or idiots would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

As others said, the ISO provided HP is very good, but it is in no way a magic requirement. They contain little update driver-VIBs and, in addition, the material management extensions.

Basically, everything that HP and other hardware vendors are doing with their ISOs custom entering the release of vanilla by VMware, the addition of a few separate packages (material management extensions) and maybe replace some drivers specific with updated versions (as a driver more recent be2net, which is just what VMware offers as an updated driver to separate day on their site anyway). They do not affect the VMware components as esx-base package

You can also easily build an almost exact copy of HP image yourself, updated or additional drivers and management extensions are all available after all. And of course you can always install management packs and drivers updated in your vanilla install yourself afterwards, through for example Update Manager.

  • How to get the free license for HP Custom Image for ESXi 5.1.0

    Hi there guys.

    I have HP Proliant DL160 G6 and I installed this: https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/details?downloadGroup=HP-ESXI-5.1.0U3-GA & productId = 285

I would like to ask how I can get a free license for this hypervisor?

My server supports only hypervisor 5.1, but none of the most recent versions, then told me to install the one I posted above.

This version of the free hypervisor and how do I get the license for this last, or where I can download another more recent free hypervisor can 5.1.0?

    Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, you can't have the old version free license... As if you were going to a free version, you can try the latest version and key are available with them. Currently esxi 6.0.

If you bought the license for 5.1, then you can get the license key. another sound impossible.

  • It is absolutely impossible to get a license for HP Custom Image by ESXi 5.1.0 Update 1 Install CD iso download

As I said on a support call, I just raised.  The funny thing is I have no confidence now and the clock is ticking, assessment expires all too soon.  Does anyone know how to get the free product license please?

    Martin

To enter the key to license/assign the license to host, do in for example http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2014295. For example "Licensing a stand-alone ESXi host" where the host is not managed by vCenter Server.

  • Reference Dell Custom Image for Vmware ESXi 5.1

    Hello

where can I find the custom image Dell for ESXi 5.1.

I can only find the ISO Images for 5.0 (4.1). But none for 5.1. Unfortunately the original ISO Vmware image will not work because it does not find a NETWORK card in my Dell R420. Which seems to occur as long as the original image from Vmware does not include the card driver NETWORK Dell to the R420.

I saw that today there is a download section at support.Dell.com for ESXi 5.1 with about 36 files to download. But no ISO Image for ESXi 5.1 as it is 5.0 and before.

Hope someone can help or knows how Dell will bring the custom image.

    Thank you!

Here is the link to the ISO image of the ESXi 5.1 custom newly released Dell. Sorry for the delay to everyone - out www.dell.com/.../poweredge-r620

  • Install a custom configuration for ESXi Installer for server 28 - Scsi.CRTimeoutDuringBoot value to 1

    Hello

First off I will say that I installed ESXi 4.1 in about 6 servers to date.  I have a large ESXi Cluster that contains the MSCS virtual machines.  I have the problem that described in http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1016106.  Now, workaround for the value Scsi.CRTimeoutDuringBoot value 1 works fine and shorten time of start of 40 + minutes to 8 minutes after post.  Now, what to install it?  Well, they suck.  Basically before you can actually adjust this via the gui VI client, you must go through 2 trunk of ESXi 4.1 (1 ffrom the CD and 1 after initial installation).  So, basically, to install ESXi on servers 1 takes me about 2 hours.  That sucks.  Anyone know how I can make a customized CD that includes the fix 'Scsi.CRTimeoutDuringBoot value to 1' already?  28 more servers to go and I'm not looking forward to that!  Please help...

Yet another stupid question! Is it possible to add a custom style image? For example, I have a style named attention and I want this style to use a specific image. If possible, please provide details for its implementation. If it is not possible, a code snippet is perhaps the best option?

    Thanks again.

    Hello

First news of 'bad': I can't find an option to add a background image for a hollow style editor the Robo8 paragraph. You can post as a feature request.

Each paragraph you create, wil you have in your css style, and it is a bit of trial and error. A major advantage: whenever you need to change the image, it will be just a few minutes!

  • Customer Web for ESXi

    Hello

I just installed ESXi 5 on my bare metal server to deploy instances on this subject.

I am installing vSphere Client to log in to the server.

Since I use the freeware version of ESXi, am I allowed to use the web client and how?

I'm sorry for the newbie question, I'm new in VMware.

    Thank you!

Since I use the freeware version of ESXi, am I allowed to use the web client and how?

No, because to use vSphere Web Client, you'll need vCenter server and even if you have vCenter Server, you will be able to manage your free hypervisor, ESXi with vCenter Server, you will need to license your vSphere host too.

  • Standard Cisco Custom Image vs ESXi ESXi VMware image

How the image Cisco Custom ESXi differ from the standard image of VMware ESXi, and how is it important to use Cisco image when the material of the UCS is used to run ESXi?

It is not a problem in itself. The ISOs of VMware GA come with drivers for real Cisco VMware team has put at their disposal to the release date.

Cisco made its own assessment of the release of vSphere, and if they determine that an updated driver is needed, they release a.

The recommended practice is to check the compatibility UCS site to confirm the version numbers of driver that you use depending on your combination of hardware, UCS version and version of vSphere.

  • Custom image for the lockscreen

So I found how to change locksreen background on my tab 2 Yoga, but I can't figure out how to put my photo, there is only about 7-8 Lenovo predfined, including the lapping original color. I tried to put my own in the same folder in the Explorer of files, but when you install lockscreen wallpaper that it does not show, otherwise they are in the folder of the lock screen. What should I do?

    Thank you

Well, it IS actually possible. If you open you files in computer tablet or total order directly in the Tablet, there is a folder named .lelauncher and in it there is subfolder named wallpaper. If you just copy/paste your image in there, it will appear with the pre-defined Lenovo ones and you CAN put it as your lockscreen wallpaper.

Just put your image in storage/emulated/0/.lelauncher/wallpaper. That's all.

If you don't want to use the computer whenever you want to change it, just download Total Commander on Store. Lenovo file browser doesn't allow access to this file, but a Total Commander.

  • Cisco Custom Image patch

    Hello

I installed a custom Image Cisco ESXi 5.5 in a UCS C220 M3 and I would like to know if I can install patches using Update Manager as I do with a default image. I don't know if I'm having problems because some patches to update the drivers of ESXi and could, for example, replace the Cisco enic and the fnic.

I know that HP and Dell have their deposits that I can use with the Update Manager, but can not find something like that for cisco.

    Thank you

    Hi theire,.

so in recent years, I stayed away from custom provider Isos. Reason is that Vmware is not happy with the custom ones when facing problems. They are pointing to another seller trying to manage Ticket support.

As for that so I just used for years a clean default Vmware Image as well as all the necessary drivers I inject later. Manually or via the Update Manager.

Had more problems with Isos by default then with fully customized supplier ones.

But back to the Question.  If you want to update the driver for Cisco, then you could download those most recent supported because you're model and add in you're Manager Update.

    Best regards

  • Cisco UCS 260 M 2 5.5 U3 - custom image and compatibility

TAC has a customer turned and pointed toward a compatibility table for an installed UCS - C 260M 2, stating that the firmware of the UCS and the latest version of Vmware is not supported.

They are suggesting that the client moves to fimware 1.5 (9) and they use a customized image of Cisco for Vmware.

This facility is for UC/EAC, so I have to make sure that the versions supported in the docwiki for these products as well is the Vmware version.

    http://www.Cisco.com/Web/TechDoc/UCS/interoperability/matrix/matrix.html

The drop down menu shows Vmware 5.5 U3 is a supported version and I find that 5.5 is supported in the dockwiki. So far so good.

However, when I try to find a custom image for 5.5 U3 image only I find it:

    https://my.VMware.com/Web/VMware/details?ProductID=353&downloadGroup=OEM...

VMware 5.5 U3a. The version of the driver specified on this page do not match driver versions indicating the interoperability matrix must be used.

First, is there a customized image of Cisco for 5.5 U3, could someone point me to this image so that these versions of the drivers are the same?

Secondly, can I use ISO customized Cisco to upgrade a vanilla install Vmware 5.1 U3?

    -GDR

    Greetings.

The Cisco Custom images are just a collection of pilots who were up-to-date at the time wherever it has been presented to VMware.  It is expected that iso custom will exactly match the interoperability matrix (it could have at the time, it was created), but at least provide newer drivers than what is usually installed in the general VMware releases.

The interoperability matrix will list the specific driver, i.e. igb driver intel 1 GB network interface.  Download you the version of the driver for VMware site and install adapt you to the requirements notified by the interoperability matrix.

You should be able to use a custom Cisco ISO to upgrade.  When your custom installation ISO analyzes your existing system, it will see a higher version of the drivers/VIBs and update those.  The Cisco with custom isos are simply the original VMware updated versions the drivers injected into them.

    Thank you

  • Impossible to get my custom image to work somehow

OK, I read that to define a custom image for an air application file you must change the application xml file. I did that like so: -.

<!-the icon, the system uses for the application. At least a resolution,

Specify the path of a PNG file that is included in the AIR package. As an option. ->

    <!-< icon >

    < image16x16 > coolvicon.png < / image16x16 >

    < image32x32 > coolvicon.png < / image32x32 >

    < image48x48 > coolvicon.png < / image48x48 >

    < image128x128 > coolvicon.png < / image128x128 >

    < / icon >-->

And when I do a bin of the app release is just the small air icon of the box cardboard instead my icon yet I put the coolvicon.png in the src folder. Y at - it another way to do this or I do something wrong?

  • R710/R720 - Dell customized Image of VMware ESXi 5.5 Update 2 - megaraid_sas version specific?

That I improve a R710 and two v5.5 (Dell image) to v5.5 U2 ESXi ESXi R720 using the image of Dell here:

    www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails

The documentation "Upgrade Guide to ESXi 5.5 using Dell customized Image" here:

    www.Dell.com/.../manuals

indicates that a specific version of the megaraid_sas driver must be installed.

Is the version megaraid_sas that installs with the image of Dell U2 v5.5 not the right version?

I just ran the upgrade on a R710 and it's the megaraid_sas version installed:

    ~ # vmkload_mod s megaraid_sas | grep Version
    Version: Version 06.803.73.00, build: 1331820, Interface: 9.2 inspired: August 22, 2014

    Thank you.

    Hello

It lists the R720 and R710 systems supported and both link to the same page, so the customized version is the same for both servers. Is the version listed in the reference guide for A02

    megaraid_sas - 06.803.73.00

    Page 5 ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_software/esuprt_virt_solutions/vmware-esxi-5_Reference%20Guide6_en-us.pdf

This is the same version that he shows for your installation on the R710 so that seems correct.

  • Free license for Esxi 6.0 Cisco custom ISO

    Dear all,

Is it possible to get the free license for Esxi 6.0 custom cisco ISO? or what can I use standard 6.0 for Cisco 6.0installation custom Esxi Esxi free license key?

I could find the free license only for Esxi 6.0 standard image customized Cisco.

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the community,

Cisco and other hardware providers offer ESXi images customized to support their equipment. However, the customization is made by adding/replacement drivers and tools. The base is still the same original VMware image. There is no specific license provider.

  • Patching ESXi 4.1 installed with custom image

    Hello

Our company has several ESXi 4.x - hosts installed with HP or DELL-customized images.

If I install the patches with VUM without doing something more, simply by using the patches automatically downloaded VMware, they then somehow will overwrite the DELL/HP-installation custom ESXi? (Leaving me with a fully functioning but the host not custom).

Or are the standard VMware patches without affecting the part 'tailor-made' installation?

    Concerning

    Matthias

The patches that you apply do not overwrite OEM customizations.

    http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/ESXi_management.pdf :

The basic hypervisor code can also contain custom code provided by suppliers of servers (OEM) that provides additional features, such as monitoring and hardware support information. These customizations would be present, for example, if had ESXi embedded format of the manufacturer of the server or a customized version of ESXi has been installed on

the hard drive. Any update to an existing installation of ESXi integrates automatically the correct update of this custom code.
