  • Compaq DC7700 CMT: Power supply Assembly for dc7700 cmt

I got a HP Compaq DC7700 CMT (convertible minitower) and want to install my XFX XT power supply in it series.

It seems that the holes for the screws may be different. No power supply is available for the side by side comparison.

    If anyone can check that?

and, is it possible to install a "standard atx" PSU in this dc7700.

If Yes, what should be done.

The XFX PSU adapts physically, and it seems that the connectors on the motherboard are all compatible.

My only concern right now is if the new XFX PSU moved to the back of the tower.

I count on the installation of a hard disk with Windows7 on it, two spare HARD drive as the network maps and graphs updated

Your correct, the PSU do not line up.

What has been done in the past, it is what is in the photo. You just made an adapter plate.

Be aware that only the Legacy graphics cards will work.

When you download the BIOS file that is run, and the first thing that will pop up is a set of web page - and the instructions for all the BIOS flash methods.

I like the easy way to format a USB drive in the file system FAT 32, copy the contents of the flash BACK to the usb flash drive folder, plug the flash drive on the PC, start PC, tapping on F10 key to access the BIOS at the beginning of the HP welcome screen and using the 'Flash ROM system' menu in the BIOS.

I take the PC above later this week and I wonder if anyone can advise me on what the wireless card to get. It must be able to Draft-N and preferably Intel. It is the first thing I want to install, then I update the video features as well as the power supply in the near future.  Any help gratefully received.

And I prefer a built in card with external antenna, do not really a USB device.

    Hello:

Intel is not a desktop PCI internal wireless card.

I enclose a link to the Web site of new eggs for a list of the internal wireless cards, you can choose. Many have clients who can help you decide what is best for you.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/ProductList.aspx?submit=Ene & N = 100010074% 20600014354 & IsNodeId = 1 & name = External % 20Antenna

I can't recommend a N Wireless card internal for you because I don't have wireless G I have the internal Linksys PCI card. It works fine for me.

Hi ive just got out the attic of my old pc, not connected my monitor and theres no display at the entrance.

I remember having the same problem when I got it about 6 years ago first lol, I noticed in the box there is an adapter I plugged the wire in and then put it in another port (don't remember which) and display on monitor

Problem ive got now is I seem to have lost this adapter and do not know what it is that I'm actually looking to buy another. Any ideas what it is?  Every day spent online search with no luck not even save the loft trying to find

    Thanks in advance

The DC7700 CMT has a standard VGA video output and the only non - VGA card is the DY674A, this card would require an adapter to use a standard VGA monitor.  Look at the back of the DC7000 and monitor cable plug. Is this correct?

    Hello

Here's the video cards tested by Adobe CS4.  The article is four months old.

Review the specifications of performance ATI and NVIDIA . Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

The 450 from NVIDIA is perhaps a bit slower than the 8800 and the 460 is a faster card.

Thanks for the tip I will load CPUZ and check the temperature which would be the specs of temp on this one

  • HP compaq dc7900 cmt: need help to identify certain hardware in some tech.

    Good, good morning/afternoon.

Ive had trouble understanding this old pc that I found laying around. I decided it might be fun to try to update as a challenge for a bit of fun. However after getting the open pc intel core 2 duo cpu is not the usual device that allows easy removal of the cpu and looking more closely, it appears that the cpu is completely blocked to the motherboard. I find it odd that a cpu would be glued to the motherboard like that especially on a desktop computer with as much space as the CMT version.

I'd like someone just confirm that the CPU is not removable and also request that they tell me the motherboard installed in this particular unit.

Thank you very much and sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hello:

You can remove and replace the processor.

Here is the link to the repair manual for the dc7700, which will provide the steps to do so.

Want to watch Chapter 6, section 6.18 and 6.19.  Now the heatsink in your dc7900 seems different from that shown in figure in the dc7700 manual, but still, it comes off with 4 screws.

Remove the processor is the same in both models (6.19).

I can't believe that HP has no guard manuals for the dc7800 dc7900 or the 8000 Elite CMT.

  • The DC7700 RAM limits

I have a HP DC7700 with the motherboard 0A54H.  It came with the 1 GB DDR2 PC2-6400(400MHz) memory stick.  I took 2 sticks of memory 1 GB DDR2 PC2-5300(333MHz) on an old PC and seems to work perfectly.

I was looking at the specs for the DC7700 and he says I can install DDR2 PC2-6400 (800 MHz).   I was wanting to add more, but as I understand it, 32 bit OS can support more 4GB and 64 bit OS can support up to 8 GB.

My HP 0A54H would be able to handle 8GB if I installed 64 bit OS?

    Hello:

    Yes it can.

4 x 2 GB memory PC2-6400 of CMT and LTS.  See page 10.

    http://h18000.www1.HP.com/products/QuickSpecs/12543_ca/12543_ca.PDF

Since any processor in this PC has at least a 800 MHz front bus, I would not install memory PC2-5300, because it slows things down.

  • DC7700: Size maximum hard drive on HP DC7700?

I recently upgraded to a 2 TB to 3 TB (after the death of the 2 TB).

I also upgraded from Win7 for Windows 10 at the same time.

A week later, the operating system won't start.  When I look at the disc (he jumped into another office) and it the disc seemed to only be formatted in ran 2 TB Seagates SeaTools.  It is passed all tests ok.

Trying to get Win10 to do a repair of the car.  Failed.  Tried to update (save user settings)... failed.  Tried to wipe & re-install... also failed.

I was wondering if there is a problem with the maximum size of hard drive in the BIOS.  Running 1.06 (the latest news of 2011?).

I hope someone could shed some light on this?

    Thank you

    John.

    Hi, John:

There are actually a few problems...

    1. you must not exceed 2 TB for a boot disk when your PC lacks a UEFI BIOS (which is not the dc7700).

    2. If the HARD drive is a SATA III (6.0 Gbps) by car, there is a very good chance he's one of the symptoms listed in this document from HP below...

    http://h20566.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.Oid=3718645&docid=emr_na-c02711513&lang=en&cc=us

I had the same thing happen to me (the first question is in the document) on my dc7800 when I installed a new 500 GB WD Caviar Black HDD, SATA III HARD disk.

W7 has worked for awhile and then the disc has not been recognized more.

I assumed that the drive is defective, so I RMA'd it, and the other does exactly the same thing.

I swapped the 500 GB of disk with a disk of 1 TB SATA III coming from my 8200 Elite CMT.  The 8200 Elite came from the factory with 1 TB HARD drive.  1 elite 8200 than TB HARD drive worked perfectly well in my dc7800 and the WD 500 GB drive has worked perfectly well in my 8200 Elite (which has a SATA III HARD disk controller).

IMO, the unrecognized drive is because of this incompatibility problem described in the document of support.

For more information on disks larger than 2 TB, read this white paper from HP below.

You should be able to use the 3 TB, such as a data reader drive if you format to GPT, provided that the incompatibility problem does not exist when it is not be used as a startup disk.

    http://h20566.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.Oid=3459241&docid=emr_na-c02826744&docLocale=en_US

Curiously, the dc7900 and 8000 Elite PC, I, do not have that issue with discs hard non - HP SATA III - even if their controllers are only SATA II as well.

  • Compaq dc7700 sff: motherboards latest include the compaq dc7700 sff case?

I want to use the case of an old dc7700 sff, but the layout of the Panel back looks like it is the inverse of all the motherboards I've found. Is there any motherboards that support DDR3 RAM and have at least three connectors SATA (SATA 3 preference) that will be adapted to this case (PCI ports on the left instead of right of ports)?

    Hello:

    Unfortunately, there is not.

The dc7700 was the last model that used the case that has also been used d530, dc7100, dc7600.

When the dc7800 came out, they used a completely different case, which was also used on the dc7900.

Then the case was changed again when the 8xxx models Elite have been introduced.

The first business office of HP in this class that came with sata ports 3 was the 8200 Elite SFF/CMT.
