    Please perform the procedure that could solve the problem below.

    1. click on the Start button on the computer.
    2. then click on Control Panel.
    3. then printers and faxes
    4. in the top left, click on add a printer
    5. click Add a local printer
    6. and while "Use an existing port" is selected, select "Virtual USB port... "and then click Next.
    "7. in the manufacturer list, select HP, then under the Deskjet 990 c printer list", then click Next and complete the wizard

    Now try printing. It should work.

    What I would do, is to remove the printer in printers and devices, remove the driver, disconnect the printer to the USB port, reset the printer, reinstall the driver, then plug the printer on a different port to see if it makes a difference. Cheapo printers can have sensors fail on them, too, hoever, so it is possible that a failed paper sensor is the cause of the message.

    I am trying to print the darkest possible black, but simply by using the black ink cartridge. How do I get there?

    I do my drawing in Adobe Illustrator and set the color to be CMYK 100 100 100 100.

    If I insert only the black cartridge, the printer will leave empty place where color CMY ink should be or it will fill the space with black ink?

    Basically, what I'm trying to do is to increase the density of ink to the highest possible but only using only the black cartridge.

    You can use the mode single-cartridge:

    Use single-cartridge in the HP printer with a single cartridge. Mode single-cartridge begins when an ink cartridge is removed from the distribution of the print cartridge. In the mode single-cartridge, the product can only printing from the computer.

    I read your post and to see that the Printer Wizard is not open to view ink levels when you click on the shortcut of the printer.
    I'll be happy to help you.

    Try to go to start, all programs, HP Deskjet 1000 J110, and then click the J110 Deskjet 1000 again to see if the printer wizard will now open in this way.

    If this isn't the case, then most likely the driver is damaged. I uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

    Uninstalling the printer software.

    Select your operating system, click Next and click on the software to download and install.

    Now try and access the Printer Wizard.

    After you have this error message when you try to download the printer driver or when you run the wizard?

    Kindly, follow these methods and check if that helps.
    Method 1:

    You can temporarily disable the anti-virus program and then try to download the driver.

    This question is really weird because there is no consistency here at all. The printer prints perfectly and other things any when they are super close to be the same kind of thing in print. I don't really understand this problem. I recommend to you call HP telephone support because I don't want you will be not not operational during the final phase.

    I have Excel 2013 on Windows 7 32 bit and can't print anything off Excel 2013.  I have a HP Deskjet 1000 J110 series using the downloaded 28.8 driver version 18/05/14.  I can print to this printer from Word, PowerPoint, Internet and email without any problem.

    Given that I can print Microsoft Excel driver using Microsoft XPS says it's my print driver.

    I understand that you can not print from Excel 2013. I recommend that you first run the HP print and Scan Doctor to see if the diagnostic tool will correct the printing problem.

    If the tool does not work, try uninstalling the printer software, restart the PC and reinstall using the printer HP install wizard for Windows.

    Worked OK a few weeks before, but after that date 8.1 it half stop ink printing. Installed new cartridge color to similar problems. Tried a new black cartridgeXL & black choise, but doesn't print anything. I have tried reloading the software CD & realized it wouldn't work on my new laptop S855 Satellite Tobshiba with Windows 8 or 8.1. Have you updated the software and drivers for the Deskjet 1000 J110 series?     I understand that your Deskjet 1000 printer is no longer printing in black after a Windows 8.1 update. Yes there are drivers available, seen here drivers and software HP Deskjet full functionality.

    I would say troubleshooting this as a matter of 'Quality', as black is missing.
