HP Deskjet 5550: Printer sharing via Router/USB?

So, I have an ASUS router with EZ printer sharing function. I have connected my printer to the router via USB but I can't find the printer in windows. When I surfed in to my router, I see the printer via the firmware on the router and the router has detected my printer model.

I tried with the only available software for my printer, nothing helps. I also downloaded a software from ASUS, same progress. Any suggestions?

Apparently I had to install an ASUS file on my computer, I just tried to run WinRAR. Problem solved!

    Hello

We use 3 Macs connected via LAN (Ethernet, we do not use Wi - Fi).

On all Macs, I installed the software EPSON printing and active "Sharing printers", via preferences > sharing.

    What should I do?

    Hi coxorange,

Please use the Apple Support communities for help. From your post, I understand that you are unable to access the printer that is connected to one of your iMac, others in the House. I know it's nice to be able to print from all of your devices, so I'm happy to help you to provide advice for this.

From the information you provided, it seems that there is some confusion about the way the printer is shared on your devices. In order to have a shared printer, you must only share from the computer to which it is connected. From there, you can connect to this printer with other computers. Perform these steps on the iMac to which it is attached:

    How to share a printer:

    1. Open sharing preferences if it is not already open (choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Sharing), then check the box print sharing.

    2. Under printers, select the printer you want to share.

When you share a printer, all users on your network ("everyone") can use by default. If you want to restrict access to specific people, go to steps 3 and 4.

    3. Click on the button Add at the bottom of the users list, and then do one of the following:

      • Select a user in users and groups, that includes all your Mac users.

      • Select a user from the network or users groups network, which includes everyone on your network.

      • Select a person in your contacts. Create a password for the person, then click on create an account.

    4. When you add people to the list of users, access to the shared printer is reset to no access for the users of your network ("everyone"). To provide access to everyone again, click the triangles, then choose can print.

  • HP deskjet 5550 printer will print is no longer on the domestic network/work group

I have a printer deskjet 5550 HP. It is attached through my XP operating system. My laptop is using Vista and has always been able to use this printer through the share system. However, all of a sudden the printer does not read the laptop print requests. I am able to access all other files on the main desktop. So I'm not sure what is happening. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi sweetmyranda,

    1. you remember changes to the computer before the show?

You can remove the printer in Windows Vista and then try to uninstall all the drivers for the printers of programs and features.

    Method 1:

    a. open Printers by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, hardware and sound and then click Printers.

    b. right-click on the printer you want to remove, and then click on remove.

If you can't delete the printer, right-click again, click Run as administrator, and then click on remove. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    Method 2:

Uninstall the printer from programs and features (as applicable).

    a. click on start

    b. type appwiz.cpl in search, and then press ENTER.

    c. find the printer driver package, right click and uninstall the package.

    d. restart the computer and check.

  • HP Deskjet 5550 printer that Jam

    Hello

I'm new to this forum, please bear with me if I'm posting in the right place.

I have a printer HP Deskjet 5550 (Yes, quite old, but very reliable), and he has developed a printer jam that I can't solve.  I tried to delete the document, canceling, the printer power off, practically everything to get rid of printing, but it seems to be stuck on 'delete '.  I now can't print anything else as all other jobs piling up just behind the print job blocked / deleted.  Can anyone suggest how to totally eliminate this jam?

    Thanks a lot for reading.

    Hi Mannyroad,

Have you tried to restart the print spooler in services?

What is the operating system on your computer?

    Restart the print spooler:

    1. type services.msc in run or search programs and files

    2. scroll the right-hand side of the screen until you locate the print spooler service.

Note: Services are in alphabetical order

    3. highlight Print Spooler and then click on stop the service in the upper left corner of this window

    4. close the Services window, and then restart your computer

Once the computer is restarted, let me know if you are able to print successfully?

  • Printer Deskjet 5550

My Deskjet 5550 printer started printing very slow for some reason any.  It takes 5 minutes to print a fourth of a page.  It has worked very well.  I found a Web site and did all the troubleshooting that was proposed, even bought a new cable.  Someone has an idea of what could be the problem?

The printer does a bunch of print heads, then pause for 15 seconds?  If so, I would say remove the cartrdige of color and try a print job.  If the result is always a slow printing can replace the color cartridge and remove the black cartridge and then print a page.  The cartridge installed when the page prints slowly is the likely culprit. (Note that printing with only the installed color cartridge will be a little slower than normal printing with black cartridge installed.  For the purposes of this test you are looking for gross differences in print speed.)

  • Deskjet 3050 a problem change from USB to wireless

I got a Deskjet 3050 a printer attached via the USB port of my desktop HP Win7 64 bit for a year and a half. Attempts to convert the USB wireless. Instructions lead me the start--> all programs--> HP--> HP Deskjet 3050 J611 series a--> convert USB wireless.

But when I open--> series HP Deskjet 3050 a J611, my only choice is:

    Connect a new printer or

    Add new software

Nothing on the conversion of wireless USB. If I click 'connect a new printer' I have the choice of:

    USB connection

    Connection Ethernet / wireless

    Connect again later

If I select wireless connection, it tells me to connect the USB cable. It is been connected for more than a year. But the button "Next" is gray and I can't move forward.

If I select USB connection, it tells me to connect the USB cable. It is been connected for a year. The only choices I have are to return to a screen or check a box that says I'll connect it later, not now. I don't have to check but the 'Skip' button is gray and so I'm stuck again. I tried to turn the printer power off and moving the USB cable to the USB port of different desktop and power on printer again. I tried to reset the default printer on the printer control panel. The software does not believe that the USB is connected. This is the case.

I pressed the button on the control panel of the printer wireless. It flashes blue.

I'm usually pretty good with the resolution of this kind of thing, but I'm ready to break this piece of scrap on the ground and dance on his grave. .. .any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi Julie,.

Thanks for the reply, sorry for the frustration. Here's what to do to uninstall it, in a more detailed form.

    • Click on the link above to access the driver removal tool.
    • Click on download and run.
    • Click 'Yes' when asked if you want to allow the following program to make changes to the computer.
    • A folder opens, look down and you'll see 'uninstall_l3' - select it.
    • The uninstall is running and restarts your computer.

Now, it is normal to go forward, and then reinstall the printer.

I hope this helps you, let me know how it goes!

  • HP Deskjet 5550 with Windows XP Mode

    Hello

It drives me crazy. I have an old HP Deskjet 5550 printer which I used to use on my Windows XP Dell laptop. I just bought a Dell Inspiron 17 with Windows 7 Professional. I installed Windows XP Mode as well.

I try to install my old HP Deskjet 5550 in my new computer laptop. Just after I installed the software, it worked on Windows 7 and XP Mode. Once I reboot, it no longer works. I worked on this problem for several days now and this morning I tried again and all of a sudden, the printer worked on the side Windows 7 without any problem. But when I tried to use it on Windows XP Mode, it did not work.

I called Dell Support and they have taken control of my laptop and worked on the problem, but could not understand how to operate on Windows XP Mode either. They asked me to call HP and I did, they could not solve the problem either.

I've looked everywhere and almost all users have the problem using an old printer HP Windows 7 and not Windows XP Mode. But for me, it's the opposite. It is very strange for me.

Anyone know how to fix this? I have the CD that came with the HP printer and have tried to install and uninstall the software, the problem persists.

Suggestions or comments are much appreciated.

    Thank you.

Ok. I don't know what is happening. I changed the port numbers as I posted and I changed to a port called TS001 PRN8 and I tried to print something and it WORKED!

But I tried this port before and it didn't work. I restarted my XP Mode and test the printer again, and it still works. I am therefore very well so far.

If the problem comes back, I'll post it again here.

    Thank you.

  • printer problems / deskjet 5550 not work with usb to parallel / tried everything

    Hello

Could someone please help. I'm not getting my old printer HP deskjet 5550 for work on an Acer ASpire 5542 laptop, I got the cable converter USB to parallel (1284) this morning - since... no joy in getting it to print.
-L'usb parallel cable driver installed first during the connection that
-L' printer was connected, then added via Device Manager "add a printer".
-It has been added to the level local port and selecting a port usb001 or usb002 virtual printer (it's the usb/parallel cable)
The printer is offline. A paper, ink - any installation to go.
    Can someone help me please?
    Thank you / simon

Parallel USB cables can be problematic, and in this case is not necessary.  The Deskjet 5550 has a USB port (in addition to the parallel port).  Install the printer such as described in this page.

I have my printer connected to my router via a usb cable. I also have my (Vista) computer connected to the router by ethernet cable. How can I set the computer to print to my printer via the router?

Usually, you need to install the printing software / drivers on your PC, configured / installed specially for a printer "remote" (its an option in the installation of the printer software)

  • DeskJet 2540: cannot convert mac wireless usb printer

    Hello

I'm having a problem setting my printer all-in-one Deskjet 2540 on my macbook (osx El Capitan). After basic implementation through usb connection, I was able to connect my printer to my router, which makes possible wireless printing. I was then able to print wireless from my phone using remote control all-in-one app.

However, I now want my macbook to establish a wireless connection to the printer instead of the usb connection that is used for configuration. I can't find the option to convert a usb printer to a printer that is connected to the wifi. When disconnecting from usb, laptop computer notes the connection with the printer is lost. To install my printer, I use the HP Utility software, in which I can't find such an option. Also, when passing through Apple-> system-> printers and scanners preferences I can't find an option "convert to wireless. I also read a method via Finder-> applications-> HP and then an icon for installing the software & should be there? In my case, there is only the HP Utility icon which directs me to the same program in which I could not find the option.

What I was looking for, and where can I find it?

Might be a little exaggerated description, but I hope that this makes it extremely clear...

  • Problem connecting to HP DJ5900 via the USB port on the router

HP DeskJet 5940, MacBook Pro, OS x 10.6.8.

I want to connect the DJ5940 through my router (Speedport W723V) via the USB port.

I see that the printer is connected to the USB port of routers and adding a printer on the MBP works.

However, when I try to print, printing dialoge sas is printing (full % increases), but nothing is displayed and the status of the printer finally chnges for "printer paused".

Is what I'm trying to do possible?

    Dean,

Thanks for your help, but I went in a different direction: the Speedport router is EXTREAMELY oriented Windows, to the extent that it has nothing in the documentation to do anything with a Mac, so I've dug a former print USB/Ethernet of Axis Communications Server. At least 7 years old and no documentation, but connect to its IP address allowed me to set it up, and Macs connected to it directly.
