HP deskjet 5940 status - printing tips

While in the middle of something, not necessarily printing, an alert will come to my office saying ' hp deskjet 5900 series inscribed "offering me a 'Print Tip' which is to clean the print heads with a damp cloth etc. in order to avoid a fine mist that appear on the page - a trick that I've never needed to use incidentally.   This has happened about 3 or 4 times a day for the past 6 months and is irritating to say the least. I tried to look at all options in the preferences of print and properties to see if there is a way to activate Advanced alerts, but fails and apparently do not have the config tab, which help pages say that I need. Interestingly enough the tip never changes, always the same as that darn! am not very tech of mind for that matter

Any ideas anyone?

OK, I think I might have found a solution about this - after 2 years of trying! _ I am amazed that the printer works always - but until today I have not had the annoying message of the art of State printer appear and it appears usually several times.

I found this while digging deeper on the Web site forums.

Go-start - run, type in msconfig - Startup tab look for the files HPWUSchd2 and Hp Digital Imaging Monitor and uncheck both. If you're like me, you might find that you get an error message saying: you must be an administrator of the computer - even if you are - that case I would just ignore it because it seems to work in all cases and indeed to uncheck the boxes - I pass pain trying to find a solution to this in regedit etc but none of it worked.

At the end of the day, the msconfig option seems to work and simply stop the program that causes 'tip' opening-messages

Hope this works for you too

  • Deskjet 5940 or Deskjet D4360 network print server

I would like to find a cheap USB to ethernet edge server printing for my Deskjet 5940 printer so that I can share it between three PC.  Even if I can find a number of devices for sale on the Internet, it seems that they are usually only compatible with certain printers.  For example the IOGear GPSU21 (http://www.iogear.com/product/GPSU21/) seems an attractive choice, its compatibility list at

    http://www.IOGEAR.com/file/PDF/GPSU21_PrinterCompatibilityList_201208.PDF

lists many Deskjet printers, but not the 5940.  Other manufacturers do not yet provide compatibility information.  Can anyone recommend a similar print server that is compatible with my printer?  I also own an HP printer deskjet D4360 I could use instead, but it has the same compatibility issue.  Thanks for any help!

The first and third items you mention are wireless, not ethernet. The second element has a parallel printer USB port no. The last three items are pluggable EIO. None of them are similar itmes for IOGear device that I mentioned. I will accept as your mention of IOGear unit solution, but if you check Amazon customers and other user forums, it seems that 50% of chance that "any network printer" cannot be obtained for work, where my original question.

  • HP deskjet 5940 driver for windows 7

    Hello

I'm looking for the driver of a printer HP deskjet 5940 and read on the next page that the driver is not available for download:

He said: "the drivers for your HP product are already included in the new Windows 7 operating system! You don't need to download the drivers to use the product . Simply connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable, and Windows Update automatically installs the driver for your product. " http://support.HP.com/US-en/document/c01874792

My problem is that this computer has no internet connection (Yes, it still exists in 2013). There is no internet connection available in this building (old), so it won't work Windows Update needs to connect to the internet, I guess.

Anyone know where to find the driver for this or another way to install a driver on this printer without an internet connection?

    Thanks for your advice

    Lebo

    Hi lebo,.

The drivers for your printer requires an internet connection to get the drivers.

You can either temporarily connect the computer to an internet connection in another place to get the drivers.

Otherwise, use another computer to get the drivers, and then burn those to a USB port and use them on your PC.

Pilots can be obtained at the Microsoft Web site:

    http://catalog.update.Microsoft.com/v7/site/search.aspx?q=DeskJet%205900

Be sure to get the correct drivers for your operating system and architecture and manually extract the drivers, you can find the steps to use the drivers in the link below:

  • HP Deskjet 5940, properties, "the impression sample" doesn't work well. "

When I want to see an example of printing before it starts the actual print - I defined this... so, I see a former printing sample. When I ignore this and do actual printing is printing I really wanted. When I repeat this action, then I get the real impression sample. Only after restarting the computer the problem is there again: I see the same old printing sample, only the first time. If this sample printed old sticks in the memory and I still see and only when I order the first printing after starting the computer. Actual printing will be anyway.

Finally I found the 990c deskjet, but also it did not solve my problem, because it is not an overview either work. I still have to fix something: I use OS Windows7 (8 instead, what I said in my answer 20121219) but I think that has no influence on our communication. • HP Deskjet 5940: deskjet 5900 series driver windows

    Hello

How can I install my old printer HP Deskjet 5940, as my new laptop has Windows 10? Drivers do not seem to work with WIndows 10. Thank you!

    Hi @Mirjami,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support with your request for installation.

I understand that you have a HP Deskjet 5940 printer you want to install on a computer Windows 10. I would like to help.

This printer has more no driver available for download on the Web site because it was added to the list of retirement products. When HP adds a product to this list all the online resources are drawn from the site.

The printer is listed as being compatible with Windows 10. You will be able to install the software by using the built-in Windows print driver. So here's a support document which covers how this can be done - in installation and using the built-in Windows print driver.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

Indeed, if this help you to achieve a solution please click the 'accept as Solution' and the 'thumbs up' buttons down below in this message.

    Thank you!

  • Impression on Deskjet 5940 Yosemite OSX

    Hello

Trying to install a HP Deskjet 5940 on a MacBook with Yosemite. The test page prints OK but nothing happens when printing Pages, Notes, etc.

I have not downloaded a driver yet because they seem to stop at OSX 5.

    Someone has an idea?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Officially, the HP Deskjet 5940 is not compatible with Yosemite, only printers listed below are compatible with the operating system:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c04473034

Try 3rd party HPIJS print drivers that seems to support your printer, even if it is only considered compatible with OS X 10.8 or lower it should work on your operating system as well.

Don't forget to install one of the 3 downloads required below:

    http://www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/HPIJS

Then go to Printers & Scanners and select the printer, click the use drop-down and click Select the printer software, then locate and select the driver of 5940 listed by HPIJS and check if that would work.

    Kind regards

    Shlomi

P.S., the problem started all of a sudden. before this problem, windows and hp programming was not updated in forever because I felt "if its not broken don't fix it." Now, I have a problem

    Hello @G_A_M_Mc1,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are having problems in offline mode when printing from your computer in Windows 8 for the all-in-one printer HP Deskjet 2540. I would like to help you today with this printing problem. Thank you for all the troubleshooting that you tried before reaching out for support, including. To be honest, because this problem occurs via the connection of the USB cable and the connection network, I don't think the problem you are experiencing is related to connectivity. Instead, there is probably a driver conflict between the printer and the computer, or even a problem print spooler occurring on the Windows computer. Can I please you follow the steps below to resolve this issue.

    Step 1: Run Microsoft fix:

This fix is for network printers. I understand that your printing problem occurs via the USB connection or network connections. However, it is worth trying this fix.

Microsoft has released a hotfix to correct printing problems in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems. Printing problems seem to affect printers on a network, regardless of the brand or model, and there is a conflict with the WSD Windows Network Port. Please click here to download and run a Microsoft Fix it Tool. "Once the site opens for the fix, please click on the button 'available hotfix download". Please follow the prompts on the screen to install the hotfix. Once the fix has been loaded please try again to print. If the printing problem continues to occur, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Check the status of print spooler:

The print spooler is the printing system integrated with your Windows PC. Printers rely on the Print Spooler Service running in order to print correctly. Therefore, I will ask you to check the print spooler service to ensure that it is in good working condition.

    1. Open your screen to Start by clicking the Windows button on the lower left side of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl key
    2. In the start screen, type run
    3. Click Run to launch the run dialogue box
    4. In the run box, type services.msc and click OK
    5. When the Services window opens scroll down until you see the print spooler
    6. Click Print Spooler once just to highlight
    7. If you Start in the upper left corner that indicates that your print spooler is actually stopped (not good). But we will leave that for now.
    8. If you stop or restart in the upper left corner, this indicates that your print spooler is actually started. Please click on stop to stop the service momentarily.
    9. Reduce this window which will allow us to come back here

Step 3: Check the print spooler folder:

    1. Reopen your splash screen
    2. Computertype. Click on the computer (or on This PC) when it fills so
    3. In the computer window, select your Drive C
    4. Click on Windows
    5. Click on System32
    6. Click on the reel
    7. Click PRINTERS. You can get permissions to a warning, just continue beyond that.
    8. PRINTERS of the folder must be empty. If there is no file here, they are corrupt print jobs. Right click on anything in that folder and 'delete' files.
    9. Close the PRINTERS folder

Step 4: Start Spooler and check the dependencies:

1 open the Services window we previously minimized

    2. click on print spooler to highlight

    3. click on Start in the upper left corner

    4. If you get an error message please take note of this

    5. If the print spooler starts successfully you will see "stop and restart" as your options at the top left

    6. then, double left click on print spooler. A print spooler properties window is now open. Click the connection tab at the top. Can you please make sure that it is set to Local System account and make sure that the check box is selected to "Allow the Service to interact with desktop".

    7. then click on the tab "dependencies". Please check which dependencies are listed. I need to know this if the problem persists when you have completed the steps I provide in this post.

    8. click on apply and OK for any changes that you have made the log tab. Close the Services window.

Once the spooler has been verified and has started, please test printing. If the printing problem continues to occur, proceed to the last step to load another driver on your machine and test print.

    Step 5: Load driver replacing:

    1. Open your screen to Start by selecting the Windows key bottom left of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key bottom left of your keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl key
    2. On the start screen, type devices and printers. Click on devices and printers to launch the window
    3. Under devices and Printers window, right-click on your all-in-one HP Deskjet 2540 and left click on printer properties.
    4. Left click on the Advanced tab
    5. Left-click on new driver
    6. When the new driver window just press 'Next' until you see a list of manufacturers on the left and a list of Printers on the right.
    7. Select HP as the manufacturer on the left
    8. DeskJet 9800 select the printer on the right. If Deskjet 9800 does appear to only select "Windows Update" at the bottom left and once the update is completed, you will be able to select Deskjet 9800.
    9. After selecting Deskjet 9800 hit Next to complete the wizard driver new
    10. Under the printer properties window, select 'Apply' but don't hit OK
    11. Select the general tab
    12. Rename your printer all-in-one HP Deskjet 2540
    13. Click OK
    14. Finally, right click on your all-in-one HP Deskjet 2540 one more time and left-click on Printing Preferences
    15. Left click on the paper/quality tab
    16. Left click on the drop down menu of 'Normal' for the quality of printing on the bottom right and change its normal fast
    17. Press apply and OK

Once the other driver has been installed successfully, please test printing.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. I can't wait to hear strings attached good luck!

  • Error of false paper jam in Deskjet 5940

I use a Deskjet 5940 with Mac OS 10.7.4 on an iMac. It does not print, and when I check the printer queue box, it says "There is a paper jam." But there is no jam. I use this printer only for envelopes, and I checked carefully. Took apart. It will work with either plain paper. I get no response from the forum except for points applicable to the all-in-one and the same of Google searches. It's like this simple type of printers is not false jams. Checked the manual, of course, but he treats that how to fix real paper jams.

    Hello Hazelg,

Sometimes, paper jams can be true or false. Sometimes a reset can solve recurring false paper jams. Try the following steps. I'm also including some information about the prevention of recurring paper jams, which may be useful. Good luck!

First step: perform a power reset

  • DeskJet 5940 - incompatible ink cartridge

All of a sudden my Deskjet 5940 says that I have a cartridge incompatible color in it.  I use a genuine HP 95 Tri Color that is rated cartridge.  It is in the printer for three months and works well.  All of a sudden it will not work and will not let me us the printer mode "black ink only".

Using Windows XP (Yes, I know, not my choice - a work computer).

I searched the database of RESUMES and can not find all the elements to help me here.  Any ideas?

If you remove the color cartridge the printer should automatically switch ink backup mode.

Regarding the color cartridge, clean the contacts of the cartridge as described in this document (under the section for "cartridge blinking") can solve the problem.

  • Example: Deskjet 3050 - J610: printer removes items in the print queue

Please see problem posted on June 9, 2016 and thread support. Sorry, I don't know how to go on this subject but the problem that I've marked as being solved is no longer is. It it is possible to mark as resolved and to reopen the thread please let me know how and I would be glade to do. Essentially sent items to the queue printing are deleted until they can print. They show in the print queue and then are marked "delete." I ran Print ahd doctor Scan of my desktop PC, and he says that everything is OK with the printer. I can see what the ink levels in the printer, and it printed on the printer succcessfully diagnostic information when asked to do so. I can see all of the information on the model of the printer, the serial number etc. so it seems that the PC can see the printer. But it will not print emails or Word documents - while he has done it before. Problem seems to have started when I tried to scan a document in and it would not. Printer is connected wireless and has an IP address, it doesn't seem to be the firewall attached - I disabled the Anti Virus software and it will not print. It runs the Windows firewall good that cause issues? I disabled that too, but it did not help. I followed the intstructions given by Gemini02 a HP Support Agent and it seemed to solve the problem but it only did it once and then continued to remove items from the print queue. I also tried to turn off the printer and then the PC, left for a while and then restarted them and that seemed to work. He already showed the printer as offline and printing and scanning doctor fixed that but when I ran it but still it only printed once and then returned to the deletion of items in the print queue. Grateful for any advice anyone can offer please.

  • Why my printer HP Deskjet 3350 A prints the message? Nothing to do with the scanning

My HP Deskjet 3055 A printed satisfactorily for months. Recently transferred to a wi - fi connection and he began to Miss entire lines of text messages, it's printing.  Why would he do that?

    Hi Rosewright135,

Thank you for being a member of the HP support community.  I understand that you have experienced problems with print quality because you changed printer Deskjet - 3055 has a Wi - Fi connection.

I've included two different documents for you.  First a diagnosis of print quality issues is the document to follow when you have a print quality problem.  The information that you gave, I suspect that you have a print quality problem.

I suspect that the transition to a wireless connection is probably a coincidence, but just in case I get the troubleshooting document printer does not maintain the wireless connection . Please follow the steps if the print quality paper does not solve the problem.
