HP Deskjet F4480 shoots blanks

HP Deskjet F4480 and Windows 8.  All of a sudden, in the middle of printing and copy, my printer started to produce blank pages. I changed nothing; the release went just fine, perfectly acceptable from the copies & pages impressions. Even when the printer is not connected to my computer and I try to copy something, the pages come out blank.  The color cartridge is low, but I'm trying only to print & copy b & w & this ink level is fine. Light bar moves across the plate and the cartridges move freely. HP Diagnostics detected no problems, but even the test page came out white. I turned printer and computer off and turn it back on to no effect. There is no error message. Any of the addresses messages to troubleshooting this problem & my printer is out of warranty, so I can not get the HP technical support.  I'm at the end of my roll and ready to throw the printer out the window. I'm not in computer so need an answer adapted to my disability.

Hello

Try to print a self-test by clicking on the power and Cancel buttons, you don't see any output black ink?

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01361419

Otherwise, try to remove the ink cartridge and put the bottom on a fabric - physically you see any black ink?

I have a HP Deskjet F4480 printer.  I only use it to print in black ink.  Is it possible to use only black ink in the printer (which is much cheaper)?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Grayscale is more useful for printers that have four or more cartridges. You can find on the feature by clicking on this link, but I'm not positive how useful it will be for you.

Insert a black cartridge in the color slot will not have to act as a backup cartridge. The printer will see that it is not a color cartridge and refuses to read or use it.

    Hey @Sandalwood,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that your Windows 10 PC crashed when scanning photos of Deskjet F4480 all-in-one printer. HP Scan does not save the file unless you click the save button. You will need to scan your photos again.

    Hello

I accidentally broke the door sensor for my printer.

The solution says: "Open" and it will not be printed.

I tried to install the broken sensor myself, that says 'C 15' on it.

but I have no idea where it is supposed to go.

    Thank you.

    Hello @Jen91,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have a sensor of door broken on all-in-one printer, HP Deskjet F4480. Unfortunately, the door sensor is not replaceable part in your HP Deskjet printer. Therefore, to correct the error message 'Door open' on your printer a whole unit replacement would be necessary.

I recommend at this point, contacting the Technical Support queue by phone to explore hardware options.

  • Cannot get mac to install my accept my HP Deskjet F4480

I bought a computer mac laptop and have a mac desktop computer.  The HP Deskjet F4480 came as a promotion for purchase.  I installed the disk that came with it and who says series HP Deskjet F4400 Mac OS X v 10.4 10.5; version 10.0.  My desktop runs Leapard Mac OS X Version 10.5.8.  My laptop is running the same version.

The printer does not appear, so I check the box that says the printer is not listed.  It appear the printer.  I get the following error message when I try to add a printer:

Your device is not listed, it is not supported, it is not supported by the installer.

I downloaded the disk HP downloads software, but I get the same message.

What can I do?  Is there some type of patch or setting on my computers that needs to be changed?

As the drivers of your printer (printing and scanning) are loaded in 10.6, I would uninstall all software from HP which is on your Mac.  Use the application uninstaller in Applications HP > Hewlett-Packard.

Then, do a software update (Yes, again).

Reset the printing system, then add your printer via the sign '+' in print & fax.

One last thing - is known to be good USB cable and you're not going through a USB hub, right?

  • HP Deskjet F4480 conflict printer driver

Printer HP Deskjet F4480, Windows 7, driver conflict error

When I could not print, I ran the HP diagnostic tool, who met a driver conflict.  I followed his instructions and uninstalled the current driver and reinstalled the latest driver, but I still cannot print.  I restarted the diagnostic tool again with the same result, met a driver conflict.  How can I get rid of the conflict driver for my printer?  Thank you.

What you describe, it seems that the USB cable is connected to the computer until the installation software asked for the connection.  In this case the generic Windows drivers and the HP drivers will try to install and collide with another.  I would like to Uninstall the printer and software.  Then reinstall of a fresh software download and make you wait for the software to ask the USB connection.  Let me know what happens.

  • DeskJet F4480: full black print cartridge still does not print black. Colors OK.

What the title says. All of a sudden my Deskjet F4480 does not print black. All cartridges are almost nine (changed recently, bought at Staples). Colour printing is OK. Print a page with black text and results in only the images printing color images. I only went through all the steps of cleaning cartridge several times, no difference. There is no error message, just black not appear do not at all.

    And... Here is the solution.

Funny how I found an explanation of the problem and how to fix it on a different printer manufacturer's Web site, but not on HP... But I digress.

The black cartridge has been blocked. The way of difficulty is:

    1. remove the faulty cartridge from the printer.

    2. place a small amount of boiling water in a cup (about 1/4 in.) and dunk of the print head (the part where the ink comes out) in warm water for a minute. Do not immerse the entire cartridge in hot water, just the print head.

3 take it out, pat against a paper towel, observe the model ink left in the cartridge on the towel. If too little / interrupted, dunk again in hot water for another minute, pat again. You want to get an unbroken line of ink through the length of the print head. Repeat as needed (I did 4 times total).

4 cartridge Pat dry everywhere, put it back in the printer, run cleaning cycles (1 - 2).

    5. If still not good fixed, take out the cartridge and repeat 2 (I had to do it again).

You will lose little ink, cartridge of bad and good a well (you can not run cycles with only 1 cleaning cartridge), but at least you won't have to throw a nearly full cartridge.

  • I have a HP Deskjet F4480. It will print not web searches in IE 9 - 64 bit, only in 32 bit.

If I switch to IE 9 to 62 bit version, my web to print disappears.  for example, I can't print Google Maps.  32-bit, everything works fine.  I'm on MS Outlook 2010 with Windows 7 Home Premium.  What is the reference for this?  The error box says:

    Line: 2126

    Char: 1

    : Error unspecified.

    Code: 0

    URL: res://ieframe.dll/preview.js

Do you want to continue running the script on this page?

    Yes No

Looks like you have the 64-bit Internet Explorer script error.

Honestly, the 64-bit web browsing has not yet reached its cruising speed that not all web pages is configured to run with Internet Explorer 64-bit.  64-bit navigation has come a long way, but there is still a lot of work to do before it's also compatible with web sites like 32-bit browsers.

This Microsoft document discuss the matter with a little more detail.  They suggest updating the driver first, but I have not seen this solve the problem that leads me to believe the issue is not with the printer driver.  This does not mean he does not and is not worth a try, but my experience this always ending by using Internet Explorer 32-bit to make any impression of web pages.

The last driver for Deskjet F4480 and Windows 7 64-bit is dated 2009.  More than likely, you already have the latest driver.

  • Printheads can not be cleaned (Deskjet F4480)

I have a Deskjet F4480 printer, which remained a little.  I installed in on my Mac running 10.7 (Lion).  Tried to print a test page and it cannot print anything on the page.  I tried to clean the print heads using the HP software, but he failed and instructed me to contact HP support.  The printer is out of warranty, so I can't contact them easily.

Any advice on how to get the printer working again?  Ink tank is fine, but I can also replace cartridges if necessary.

    Thank you

    Annie

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. Here is a link to a document that explains how to manually clean the cartridges and more important still, the contacts inside the machine. Which could help because the print head cannot be purchased.  It also tells one what cleaning supplies to use the printer. Here is the link http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00864517

  • Index cards will not print to Deskjet F4480

    I'm running OS X 10.6.7. I use a HP Deskjet F4480 all-in-one printer.

I am trying to print on 3 x 5 or 4 x 6 cards, and even if the printer recognizes these sizes, it does not print on the cards correctly. Instead, he spits them simply white.

I had to go to work today before I could try the same size of page in another program. Everything that I tried this on is Word 2011. Using a simple program like TextEdit can produce better results? What should I try?

    lamcqueen-

What are the settings in the Page layout Word box?  The settings are applied to the "Format for: any printer" or your Deskjet F4480?

Does anyone else have any other thoughts? -Randy
