  • Start, programs, desktop computer screen works is not in Windows 8

    Hello

I bought a Dell Inspiron 17R a few months back, set it up perfectly, any issue until yesterday.
I turn on the laptop, perfectly fine.
    Sign in, no problem.
Then, during my splash screen loading, all tiles are black or showing the image of another tile and when scrolling to switch between random images of the tile and her own.
Only better - when I click on one of the tiles, it flashes a black screen with a black screen with a picture of a battery half in the upper left corner and then send back me to my lock screen. I can't access my program or my desktop. My charms bar works intermittently, allowing me to search programs (although they show a different image so programs), but, again, impossible to open these programs. I can open the settings screen of the PC, but cannot access anything whatsoever.
I tried safe mode, that actually works, I can do everything from safe mode, but I can't count on safe mode, especially for the fact that I have no sound. But otherwise, safe mode works.
I also tried to perform a "clean boot", which does nothing to help the issue.
I run a full system scan with McAfee, that does no bugs or flaws with any of my own files.
Also, when I reboot the computer to get into safe mode, I get a few options. One is to "Refresh your PC" - does not work. We must 'Reset your PC' - once again, does not work. "Dell Backup and Recovery" - does not work. Then I go to Advanced Options and get even more options. "Automatic repair" - does not work. "Image system recovery" - does not work. "System Restore" - does not work.
These options give the same message:
"There was a problem. Reboot your PC to try again. It seems that something has not been loaded properly. Restarting may solve the problem. If this happens more than once, you may also be able to find help from the online search for the specific error code: 80070490. »
When I search for this code, I find reasons and solutions, that none works. I we MSConfig to run the tool updated in the system and it does nothing. Analysis and repair of finish, while having done nothing.
Please, what the hell happens to my laptop? What can I do to fix this?

Windows key + X, select command prompt (Admin), and then type sfc/scannow.  If it detects and repairs system files, run it again until no error.

  • Desktop HP 110: slow new office

I recently bought a series of office 110 HP. I had someone transfer the data from my old to my new HP. Most of the stuff is ok, but I keep getting messages that there are Add-ons and other things that are causing my computer running slowly. Most of the programs mentioned is not enabled. The computer came with a short pass to McAffee, but I did not activtivate it. I have an anti-virus program. Now, I get a fast Web site, but more trying to navagate through the slowest site it gets. Messages at the bottom saying "site does not ' and 'reload current page '. It takes minutes to go from page to page. I'm not the "brightest lite" on the tree, so any help would be appreciated.

  • New HP desktop, Windows8, Ubuntu, UEFI and a desktop computer that is no longer start

I have a new HP desktop computer purchased just before Christmas, 2012.  Not realizing the problems with Windows8 and UEFI, I tried to load the version 12.1, Ubuntu, and now the Office does not start.

Here is the chronology of the events:

1A tried to install Ubuntu linux 12.1 with dual boot NO

2 once installed Ubuntu, the system would not start and crashes with an error message

    3. accessed in UEFI menu and security disabled for all boot devices

4 tried to start again, but the only thing on the screen is a picture of Seattle and the system will not meet any keyboard input

At this point you can power cycle this machine, everything you want, and it puts just a photo of Seattle.  I can't access BIOS UEFI, or anything like that and the machine will not respond to any keyboard input.

I did some research and it seems that this new version of the UEFI running on this desktop computer will not allow the machine to run anything other than Windows8?

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?  I don't want doesn't matter what Microsoft anything running on this PC, and want to dual-boot.  I have not the recovery disc for this desktop computer.

I think about how to solve this problem first becomes the machine to respond to keyboard entries, enter the UEFI and re - enable security this could allow me boot Windows8 still?

    Thank you!

I finally got the machine to respond to the keyboard.  I found the solution on a linux Web site

    1. turn off the machine by pulling the power cord

    2. remove the battery

    3. press and hold the Power Off button for 60 seconds

    4 replace the battery

    5. start and hold down the ESC key

BTW, I will update this thing with some notes as this can help someone else.

The machine is a brand new HP P2-1310.  It comes with Windows 8.

Try to wipe the hard drive and install linux has been in vain due to the new implementation of UEFI.  At best, I could install linux on a new partition, but the machine does never start the linux OS.  It will start only Windows8 successfully.

As near as I can tell, UEFI will prevent any OS other than Windows8 currently running on this computer.  See linux UEFI as a kind of security attack and simply prevents the machine to use.  The Open Source community works now this last attempt of MS and PC manufacturers to prevent consumers who buy a new PC to install anything other than Windows8.  Run a search on this issue and you can get more information on the latest status.

My guess is that sometime in 2013 different versions of linux Open Source will receive the digital signature required to interact with UEFI and load their OS on the new PC, or they will develop a workaround solution.  My suggestion for anyone considering buying a new PC that intends to install linux, immediately after that purchase should consider carefully what is not possible.  Right now I still can't do and I'm stuck now with Windows8.  If I had to do it again, I will not buy a new PC, but rather just go online and buy something.  After this experience I discovered used PCs with fast processors and a lot of memory can be purchased for $100 or less (craigs list), and because they are pre-UEFI, they will be easily load linux.

  • Desktop computer do not start; black screen; keyboard does not.

Ok.  I turned on my desktop computer tonight and all I get is a black screen.  Keyboard does not work either.  Has gone through all the troubleshooting suggestions that I could find online (using my laptop), but nothing works.  I think maybe an automatic update Windows could be the problem.  You have any tips for me on what to try next?

    Hi aljbad1,

Welcome to Windows Vista answers Forums!

I would like to ask you a few questions in order to get a better understanding of this issue so that we can better help you.

    (a) what version of Vista are you using?

    (c) do you receive an error message when you start the system?

Method 1: You can try to start safe mode and see whethyou can follow the below given steps:

    1. remove all floppy disks, CDs and DVDs from your computer and restart your computer.

Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.

    2. do one of the following:

    a. If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    b. If your computer has multiple operating systems, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

    3. Select safe mode and press enter

Method 2: If you are able to start in safe mode, then you can try to perform a system restore and check if it works very well.

    3. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.  Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. I have a new desktop computer HP with Vista Home Premium 64 - bit, with 8 GB of RAM, and when I try to run Zoo Tycoon 2, I get the following error message:

You need at least 256 MB of system memory to run Zoo Tycoon 2. (0Mo detected)

Y at - it a patch? I have read many "Workaround" and none of them work. I tried to run in Windows XP compatibility mode and it didn't work.

    Hey tprefling,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft answers site!

Right-click on the zt.exe file and choose "Run as Administrator" to launch the program.

See if you are able to play the game.

If this does not work, turn your computer to clean the start State and see if the fgame plays very well.

To put your computer in a clean boot, follow these steps:

Note: If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    1. sign the computer by using an account with administrator rights.

    2. click on start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    3. on the general tab, click Selective startup, and then clear the check box load startup items. (The check box use the file Boot is not available.)

    4. on the Services tab, click to select the skin all the Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
Note: Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

    5. click OK and then click on restart.

For more information about the clean boot, see the link below:

If your copy of Windows is an OEM (delivered in a cardboard cover, as a single disc) then no. - the license was related to the motherboard of a fist on which it was installed.

If it's a complete detail of the product (fancy box, two discs), then Yes, you can install it in the new - activate by phone.

No there is no way, how the do, because the license of Windows Vista is part of the computer compaq laptop - this is the license OEM - and cannot be separated.

    Hello

You hear the "beep" and "beep"? If so then that all, no other sound. Not based on the following information, they have no speakers, only so if you want to sound (to listen to the music...) you have to plug in external speakers.

I have a new HP Envy with Windows 8 desktop computer that still does not run properly. I have rebooted, restored (im doing this), ran chkdsk, sfc/scannow, malware, virus, uninstall/install etc and my machine wil always do not run for a long time without going through some sort of problem after an hour or two.  Can anyone suggest what to do about this? I read a lot of information online on all the windows 8 and fixes bugs, etc, but anything Microsoft/Windows, which ensures its customers, a hotfix or compesating their customers with software that still works. This isn't a hardware problem, and I can't keep day and bad shooting and trying to fix the day things in?

    Sincerely,
A client who is a loss for words.
Here are some problems in no particular order.
1.) apps to not install it, and/or Windows saying they are when they are in fact not. The fix to install / uninstall, or get on the site of windows directly in general does not, and or does not at all.
The change permissions 2.) does not work on files that you should be able to access in changing oxnership, permissions, etc.
3.) Google chrome won't let me access my account of microsoft (or fact rarely) trying to access assistance. But internet Explorer doesn't?
Randomly will increase from Internet 4.) a previous connection wired to wireless to a reboot.
5.) my 8 'key' windows was only shown to me after that I have let Windows scan my machine online? Why? I paid for this... I restarted it and it says: service not available (it worked the third attempt which was 1-3 minutes after the initial analysis). Windows only showed my product ID not the key. I know that my victory. 8 was OEM when preinstalled I bought it new, but why didn't we files on it that had nothing to do with activation, appearing on dates for three weeks, or so before I bought it. What is the 'activation of the factory'?
6 :) Windows Essentials does not hang for a long time, and the troubleshooterprogram of update simply does not work (I had to go to the website to try tp operate, the bluetooth functionality is not good that there is an error.
7.) windows scan and repair gets stuck at 27% (Im not the only one with this problem).
8.), avery MS Office 2013 Disappears so often and not easy to reload "we have encountered a problem.

The computer manufacturer is responsible to see that it works properly with Windows 8. It says that it is a new computer I contact HP and make these problems their. If you don't get satisfactory results I turn and look elsewhere for a computer. Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.
