  I tried 120 W power adapter but no change
  Update BIOS to the latest available F 29
  clocked i3 - 370 M processor has 2 crystals where i7 - 740 has a. n ' have not changed the radiator still...

  Would it be a problem of compatibility and is so what cpu is compatible with the new Board of Directors, or maybe I'm having a different problem here...

  It is a very old notebook support old chipset.

  I think this explains the problem.  The 2 entries here should be deleted, because the first will try to index all of your user profile and the second will attempt to index all of the Windows Partition.

  Firefox intermittently uses 100% of CPU and I have to manually turn off the computer. Firefox starts or finiosh correctly, the process is alive and that I have to use the Task Manager to end the process until I installed IE7, as I can not access banking by internet with Firefox. Very disappointing as I have ben an enthusiastic user and promoter of FF.

  Update CPU and GPU on laptop computers is complicated enough or is not possible. At first, I must say that GPU is part of the motherboard and graphics card can not be upgraded at all.

  What about the CPU upgrade? Toshiba authorized service providers will not do that and the CPU upgrade is not supported. Few people on this forum have talked about CPU upgrade, but for me the risk is too high. All hardware components are adapted to the work well together and also to reduce the risk of damaging the material. The BIOS is also suitable for the specific hardware configuration.   Forget that don t recommend install Win XP 64-bit.
  Why? Because the Win XP 64 bit was not so popular as Win 32 bit or Vista/Win 7 64 bit and you won't find many drivers for Win XP 64 bit.
  Stay with XP 32 bit or you can change to Win 7 64 bit.

  Regarding the graphical issue;
  Have you noticed that also using the old CPU (Intel Celeron M Processor 410)?
  If this were not the case, then I guess this could be a problem between the CPU and BIOS.
  Otherwise I would recommend upgrading the graphics card driver.

  Usually you can remove the CPU from the motherboard but no one can say how the laptop would go after these updates.
  The main issue may be the higher heat dissipation which would be created by stringer CPU. The higher temperature may affect the functionality of the laptop.
  In addition, there could be a problem of compatibility between the BIOS and the new processor.

  The BIOS was not designed and tested not with different CPU and this could be a problem.
