HP Envy 15 k277ca: Reinstalling windows 10 after HP warranty work

I bought a HP Envy 15-k277ca for the school, last summer (August 12, 2015).

It was Windows 8.1, and then I have upgraded to Windows 10 shortly after (mid-August).

In July, my keyboard has stopped working and I sent it in for service center HP for maintenance and security.

I came home today and my hard drive was back to 8.1 of Windows, either by a factory reset or a format/fresh install.

I would like to return WIndows 10 but since the free update has since completed & with multiple pages of information I don't have the patience to find my answer.

Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hello:

If HP does not replace the motherboard, you should be able to upgrade to W10 keeping your existing files and programs, by running the installation media that you create from the link below from the windows desktop, since W10 has been previously activated when you updated the last time.

You do W10 installation media using the tool of creation of media from the link below.

Or you can install own W10 using media that create you if you don't mind losing files and programs on your PC

When you install windows 10, you select the option "I don't have a product key" and 10 Windows will install and activate automatically because it has been successfully activated when you updated last year.

How can I reinstall windows 7 after replacing the hard drive? do I have to call microsoft or I can retrieve it somehow to the old hard drive?

Well, that certainly puts a different point of view on this subject.

There are data recovery services that can recover data from disks that have suffered from various types of failures. However, they are quite expensive. Unless the data is particularly useful, it is generally not useful.

If your Windows 7 is an OEM version, installed on the computer when you bought it, the manufacturer could have a recovery disk on sale. If it was a retail copy and you always have the appropriate product/serial number, you can get a DVD of their team of parts replacement.

    Hey Buddy,

You have created the Toshiba Recovery disk? Perfect!
After Exchange of HARD drive, you need this you to install Windows 7 disc. The Toshiba Recovery disk contains an image of the factory settings, which means that you will have the factory settings on the new HARD drive after the use of the disc. You must boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen.

It would be interesting to know what data you mean exactly.
Before you reinstall Windows, you must back up all data on a disk for example external HARD.

  • Reinstall Windows 7 after a hard drive cleanup

Hello. This is the first time I used any kind of help forum. Yesterday (Christmas day) I got old laptop (Acer Aspire 5100) mother after she got a new. I used Darik Boot and Nuke (DBAN) to wipe the hard drive. 149 GB, only 20ish GB were remaining. Is took about 4 hours and 30 minutes to complete. Of course, being an impatient teenager, I forgot to see if I had a Windows installation disc or other means to reinstall Windows. All hope is lost? Are there ways to reinstall Windows in my current state?

Use of the image that corresponds to that indicated on the sticker COST of the computer. You will also be able to read the sticker key COA code. If you do not have a COA sticker or it is unreadable, the links to Windows 7 will be of no use to you.

Microsoft Windows USB/DVD download tool can be used to copy the installation on USB files if you want to install using a USB device. The name feels strange that you do not download Windows using the tool, but use a local ISO image to burn to DVD or copy to USB.

  • Reinstall Windows 7 after upgrading to Vista?

I have my old watch office that I've upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, and after 4 years I want to reinstall Windows 7 to start fresh. The Vista that was on it, I have the disc Version of OEMs and for Windows 7, I have the disk that was given to me by the technology that made the upgrade for me after that he did the upgrade. It was made by the upgrade online. J' have the product keys for both. My question is: what I have to reinstall the Vista using the disk of Vista (and key) and then go back and reinstall Windows 7 using the Windows 7 disc (and key) or can I just do a custom installation using the disc of Windows 7 only and the product key for this? I just want to wipe all of my drive and start again with nothing other than the Windows 7 above. I've moved to Windows 8 on my new computer, but want to keep my old machine running Windows 7 (I'm sure that all your diehard 7 users understand why!). Please let me know how to do this.

    Thank you

    Just make a custom installation:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Reinstall Windows 7 after upgrade to 8

Hello. I wonder if it's LEGAL to return to Windows 7 after upgrading to Windows 8. I don't know the overview of consumption, but the final version since October 25. I have a laptop HP with pre installed Windows 7. I can simply restore Windows 7 and continue without a reactivation? How would this work? And what will happen on the disk to upgrade of Windows 8? I have an image of windows 7 to reinstall. I'm not worried about windows.old folder. I was wondering about the legality of the process.

Thank you, Andre Da Costa for all info on how to do. While it was useful, but I wanted to know if it is legal to do so.

Perfectly legal, because the machine has obtained a license for this.

  • G570 - How to reinstall Windows 7 after replacing a hard drive that crashed?

    Hi all

I have a Lenovo G 570 and was very happy with it. Unfortunately, I had a hard drive crash (totally my bad, I dropped the laptop on the floor).

In any case I had to change my drive hard because I got this message: "No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key any." I have always this message with the new hard drive which makes sense since I have to reinstall Windows 7, but the problem is that I don't have a sticker with the product key

Does this mean that the Windows product key is in the Bios? How can I get? Contact Lenovo to get a new product key and pay for it?

A big thank you to the person who will be able to help me with this, can not wait to start to use my Lenovo again.

  • Reinstalled Windows XP after the installation of computer hardware, has now lost all my old icons

I upgraded the card mother, memory and CPU.  Kept the old SATA hard drive.
Reinstalled Windows XP.  Now, I have no icons, like a new computer.  All my programs are on the C: drive, but none of the programs appear on the start-> list all programs.
    It's like I'm a new user.
Any ideas?  I wish I had my old office back.  At least all of my data, photos are always "there".
    Thank you

  • Reinstalling windows 7 after upgrading windows 10 PC Restore

try to reinstall windows 7 Home premium Service Pack 1 DVD to boot. starts with loading files, then a selection box appears but I do not have access to pointer or keyboard mouse @ the first option, this being-select country - language ect... no access to choose so I stop PC using the power button / stop. can any 1 help?

Hey did some checking in the forums and the web and found that a lot of people have had this problem and 99% of the time it was a bios problem. Make sure you also in your startup list you have the correct boot order which, for the most part, is cd, usb, hard drive, in that order. There is also an option called usb legacy list or just the usb mode to make it compatible. If you have difficulties to enter your bios, here is a list of keys

    ASUS - F8
    HP/Compaq - Esc
    Sony - F2
    Acer - F12
    Gateway - F10
    eMachnes - F10
    Toshiba - F12
    Dell - F12

    NEC - F2

Make sure to go through all the lists in the bios and check to the right of the keyboard and usb ect. and he'll say: enabled or disabled. Make sure you that you save your settings before you leave.

Moreover, for some depending on your bios keyboard and mouse are on the Advanced tab.  Once again not sure how old your system is or what type of machine you have, but that's what you're looking for

  • Reinstall Windows 7 after formatting the HARD drive

I had a laptop Lenovo with a preactivated Windows and I have a product key at the bottom of my laptop computer that reads the Windows 7 Pro OA in India. Recently, my HARD drive crashed and I had to replace it. I want to reinstall my Windows genuine 7 with available with me product key. How can I tell what version of Windows 7 was? for example, home premium, professional etc... and how can I do to download the copy of windows 7?

    Hello Bogdan,

Welcome to the Microsoft community forums. Let me help you with your concern.

Since you are using computer OEM (Lenovo). I suggest you to contact Lenovo support to clean install Windows 7. OEM keys work with the OEM CD.  It works with a generic "unbranded" CD OEM and not a retail CD.

    http://support.Lenovo.com/us/en/SelectProduct

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer, which you can generally consider this term as meaning 'PC maker' or, specifically in this case, "System Integrator." And in light of this, you can assume that the Windows 7 OEM packaging is so inaccessible you as a person.

Please see the categories below to get answers to frequently asked questions about licensing system builder OEM.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/OEM/en/licensing/sblicensing/pages/licensing_faq.aspx

See these links in support of Lenovo. The following instructions explain how to install Microsoft Windows 7 on a computer with a blank hard drive or a hard drive that is going to be wiped clean during the installation process. (All existing files will be deleted.)

  • How to reinstall Windows 8 after a system restore

I did a system restore on my laptop on the advice of a computer repairman to solve another problem and now I can't reinstall Windows 8. I can't go through the automatic setting u because I have my product key, so the PIN will not work. I tried to use the http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only link, but he told me that the product key was not correct. I don't know how to proceed. Someone at - it answers?

It turns, I was just confused and was actually trying to download Windows Office, I've managed to do quite easily, but thanks anyway.

  • Reinstalled Windows; Serial number no longer works

I reinstalled Windows, but I forgot to turn off my product (CS4 Master Collection) before doing so. (It was the second computer that my product has been installed). After you have reinstalled Windows, the license key doesn't work anymore, even on the same computer. Adobe aparently sees as being always installed on the old system of Windows, and I have no way to get on without delay.

Adobe support would not help me because I am a second user and could not transfer the registration of the product in my name. Strangely enough, I 'register' product and site Web from Adobe says that the product is affiliated with my Adobe ID, but the tech support says otherwise.

Once the uninstall is complete, the only way to fix it is to reinstall the software and then deliberately disable it - but if a system is completely erased and who doesn't...

Unfortunately the licensing issues are something that only the Adobe Customer Service can help... This is a user forum, and here, we do not have the means to "reset" your meter installation.  So I hope that in this case you can sort with them directly.
