HP ENVY 17-j067ez: Nvidia gt 740 m replacement

Is it possible to replace the nvidia gt 740 m with another graphics card?

The only laptop that HP ever made with a removable graphics card was the HDX Dragon (to my knowledge)

Your card is soldered on the motherboard and cannot be upgraded. I'm sorry.

I have a laptop Dell Alienware with a card which is not soldered to the motherboard and I checked in an upgrade.

He is now running 2 860 m so up to that are the 980.

Even if I wanted to, cards for the latter are very difficult to find on their own, and they are so expensive, it would be better to just buy a new machine.

If you're gaming or run an application that requires more video power, a counter top is the way to go.

Yes you can. The SSD will operate at full speed SATA-III. It is a major, major upgrade. It takes a (caddy and adapter cable) to install the hard drive in the Bay secondary.

Put the SSD in the 'main' location and the hard disk in the second slot. If you need assistance.

  • NVIDIA gt 740

    Just a few quick questions.

I have a HP Pavilion HPE - 257C with a Radeon HD 5570 video card.

In short, I play video games and need a better video card.

The eVGA Nvidia GT 740 will work in a HP Pavilion HPE - 257c?  I'm not sure the power needed and if there are two additional power connectors avaiiable in the chassis.  I know the eVGA Nvidia GT 740 must connect to the 2 power connectors.

HP Pavilion HPE - 257c has a 300W power supply, will that be enough?

    Thank you

    Rothy1, welcome to the forum.

All EVGA 700 series video cards require a UEFI BIOS into the motherboard of the computer.  HP didn't start to use a complete UEFI BIOS until October 2012.  Your computer was presented in March 2010.

Some of the cards have a update for the VBIOS that will work with this BIOS.  You will need to contact EVGA (1-888-880-3842) Support to see if this card is one of them.  Their Technical Support is very helpful.  Tell them that a person on the Forums of HP told you to talk to them.

If the card works, you will need to upgrade the power supply (PSU).  The card requires at least a 400W POWER supply.

  • HP m9040n - NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS - replace or upgrade?

Video does not.   NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS - replace or upgrade?  I want to edit the video with the Prime Minister of adobe.  What is recommended?  Not too expensive.

    Hello:

Yes, it would be a better card, because it has a 128-bit memory interface.

The specifications also include a 300W P/S, so this card should also work if your P/S is 300W.

    http://www.GeForce.com/hardware/desktop-GPUs/GeForce-gt-630/specifications

I'd go for this one, as the recommendations of P/S for both cards are the same.

  • HP Envy 14 w / Nvidia GTX 950 m: degradation of Gaming Laptop HP Envy

    Hello

I recently bought my laptop HP Envy a year ago and I used it moderately for school and work. I made sure to buy the GTX included 950 m graphics card so I could play some of my steam games and I'm just starting to achieve a degradation in the performance of my laptop. I do not speak of degradation when I bought the laptop so far but I'm not talking about just playing a game and having amazing performance (graphics on medium-high and about 50 to 60 images per second), but after like 5 minutes of play he is slowly starting to soak as 14-15 fps. In particular, I tried playing Overwatch today and had an amazing gameplay for the first 5 minutes, but I dropped up to 15 images/s and it's hardly playable. I tried to change the resolution and that seemed to have fixed however the same problem happened five minutes again.  I have no idea why my laptop it would especially since I have not really used a lot for the game this year and I'm sure to maintian computer performance by updating the drivers, reboot often and defraging.

    CrazyAce

I think that I finally found a solution to the problem. I was on my laptop of friends (which is similar to mine) and noticed that she had not updated its geforce experience. So I've updated for her and she began to notice the same problems I had. It turns out that this experience of NVIDIA GeForce is not really necessary for the games because it does not include the graphics driver. So as soon as I uninstalled, all started to run surprisingly. Time just in the better together performance and faster startup, no fps drop. Who would have known to try to uninstall the software, only that I have to refer to the graphics card to make my graphics card will be smoother and does not affect my computer.

Thanks for the time to help out me if. I'm so happy that I figured this out.

  • Envy 15 laptop: NVIDIA Geforce 840 M with HP Envy 15 Lapytop - works with Adobe Premiere Pro

I had this HPEnvy a couple of days and wonder for how long is more. I use the laptop intensively for video

Edition, often away from home. At first, everything was fine. Now, just a couple of days later, it will often start Premiere Pro with 'record and playback' options greyed out, even if the day before, it is not grayed out. When this happens, video playback in Adobe Premiere, he turns for a few seconds and then becomes very jerky and stuttery.

I tried to update all THE drivers video card.

I noticed that there are two video cards appears in Device Manager. "One is the NVIDIA Geforce 840 M, the other appears sometimes as ' Microsoft based *" and sometimes as Intel *. If there are two graphics showing?

I know you tell me to Adobe, but I think that something happens BEFORE first gets a peek in.  The laptop seems slow when loading any software. Just for the record, I uninstalled first Pro CC and have restored the laptop is "as delivered" condition. It took time, of mcourse, but didn't improve questions.

At the current stage at the present time, I can't use the envy 15 it is recommended locations.

I would be grateful for any advice as to why this is happening. Someone at - it of another more it?

Thank you very much for your time and expertese.

    Alan S.

It's been a while but my suspicion of power supply are correct. I replaced the power supply and it is reliable works as expected. I don't know what was wrong with the original, low voltage, main ripple?

Thanks for your time. Problem solved.

  • HP ENVY 15 Notebook E1P04AV: HP ENVY 15 problem NVIDIA GEFORCE

I'm supposed to have NVIDIA GEFORCE graphics on my computer, but the vehicle has currently the Intel HD graphics running. So I tried to download and install the driver from the GUI, but then after I installed it, I got a popup that says that NVIDIA could not find graphics cards or equipment which corresponds to the driver.

I know for a fact that I don't have a card NVIDIA graphics in the computer, because there is a sticker on it, and nothing inside the computer has been tampered with.

Check if the graphics card in your device manager section has two knots like the image below.

If there is a single one (Intel only) then your PC is not just any other GPU. So don't try to install any other drivers.

    Hello

Yes, I can confirm it for you. The same series Dv6, the same card with nVidia GT 650 M 2 GB and Intel 6235 works well. Intel 6300 Ultimate (installed the third antenna myself) and Intel 7260AC works very well also. All tested on the mobile signature.

  • Envy 15 BEATS 3040NR audio dial/button replacement

I got this laptop from a friend for free, it is out of warranty and I had the problem of button sticking audio BEATS feared the second time I tried to turn on the laptop. It seems quite common problem and I basically disconnected the button/wheel of the motherboard, but now does work ' t sound. So either I replace with a basic resistance or replace the button or live without the sound.    Everyone there is cavalier it with resistance so that sound works or has someone paid for a button in replacement of HP, if so, how much is?  I guess I can control the sound via the software so I could no less care on the dial. And I can't turn the sound enabled/disabled via the software as well. I'm not a gamer, so the only thing I really want to use the sound is for pandora, music, MP3s, etc...

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware/HP-envy-15-3012tx-beats-volume-dial-button-gets-stuck/m-p/1920881

OK, managed to fix the stuck button then I plugged the ribbon cable in my motherboard and it seems to be good. The dial still works to control the volume, but I dare not ever push this button again. I presume that it must toggle something related to audio. (I haven't watched what he does (another completely screw up the phone when he's stuck!).

I followed the instructions above to remove the three screws philip head and uses a very small allen key to force the switch to be stuck.  No amount of banging or dismiss or even the lubricant of bicycle chain should take off the top for me button.

  • 6 1012sd hinge envy / back cover - what parts of screen replacement?

    Hello!

My HP envy 6 portable 1012sd, I have for half a year now, has a broken left hinge. I saw on the forum that it is a known problem, unfortunately I left my pass laptop out of my hands so I kind of did myself (although it was a weak point that broke).

Because it is not under warranty, I have to fix it myself. I found the interview guide (pdf document named c03282148) and opening my laptop I saw that the hinge itself is not broken, but a small piece of plastic of the back cover (of the screen) is broken.

If I want to order a new back cover view. However: there are different maintanance guide three who all the discription "Rear cover" in spare part numbers: 686590-001, 692382-001, and 694471-001. How can I find out what part fits on my computer?

I hope someone can help me!

    Thank you!

they replaced my screen, but after they did I make a lower resolution, then I had.

    and thank you

    Hi @TeeShirtArtist,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question on your HP ENVY 15 - j002ex Notebook and questions with a new HD BrightView LED backlit (1920 x 1080) display panel with the lower resolution. I will try to update the graphics drivers.

Click the arrow next to display adapters to expand this category
Right click on graphic family and select Update driver software
Select search automatically for updated driver software.

The laptop must find and automatically install the updated driver
Once the installation is complete, restart your laptop.

If that doesn't help, here is a link to change the resolution, you may need to select the Advanced setting to ensure that your driver is used.

I recommend to restore the default BIOS settings. You could restore the BIOS with this document by selecting the reload the default BIOS settings.

A computer repair center should be able to fix this without any problem. The only thing might be if they have installed a bad Panel. The only way to know what are the Panel specifications, would be to get the part number of the new group.

I hope that it helps anything here.

    Thank you.

  • HP Envy 14 A9P67UA spectrum #ABA: Add (or replace) mSATA SSD to the HP Envy 14 spectrum w/windows 10... possible? Worth the risk?

    Hi all!

So, I read in this forum on this subject and have seen mixed results.  I bought this computer a few years ago, generally pretty happy with it but I ran out of space and the battery is dying.  I am trying to decide whether to revise it or buy new.   That's what I want to do:

Add 2nd mSATA SSD in the second slot.  I saw a post like this HD is compatible but that's a post.  Around, I've read that others have had problems by adding a second SSD.  Some people can not access, some people, it shows only a 128 GB extra, in fact, some have a BSOD.   The post I saw replaced the original disc to help one of them and adding a second drive so the two HDs were of the same brand.  Is it a better idea?  Also, all the posts I've seen on this topic were two years old and dealt with Windows 7.  Windows 10 it will make it harder to do?

    http://www.Amazon.com/Samsung-850-mSATA-2-inch-MZ-M5E1T0BW/DP/B00TGIVRYU?ie=UTF8&PSC=1&redirect=true...

If not I can try and use the same car with the model came in the second slot to help in possible compatibility issues, but I would be limited to a 128 GB extra (or possibly 256?).

I have also upgraded the memory of 8 GB and add a new battery.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820220618&ignorebbr=1

Reflections on what is successful? I wouldn't waste money on these parts if this is going to work.  Thank you!

    Chris

    Hi @cdmdds,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand from your posts that you are having a problem with your Notebook SPECTRUM HP ENVY 14 - 3010NR and needing some updates. This system supports 8 GB (8192 × 1) of the maximum of memory RAM and 256 GB (128 GB × 2) Page 34 of the repair. The battery information on page 32.

This would be due to the limit with the processor.

Please let me know if this information helps you solve the problem by marking this post as accept as Solution, this will help others easily find the information they seek.

    Thank you.

  • Can I have the NVidia GeForce 8400gs card replaced in my Pavilion dv2700?

    1 HP Pavilion DV2700

    2 Windows Vista 32-bit

    3. different messages which basically stated that the graphics driver (NVidia GeForce 8400 M GS) does not work correctly. Black screen, blue screen with crash dump, restarts spasmodically.

    4. no changes to the system in addition to regular Windows updates.

    5. Since the problem I updated the BIOS to the most recent and tried the NVidia HP driver, as well as from NVidia. Each driver carried out the same way. Currently have installed the version of HP.

    Hello

It is not really practical to replace the graphics card because although it's called a 'map', it is actually physically soldered to the motherboard in the same way as a chip.

You may want one of the possibilities is to have the cards to the motherboard connection, converted using a service like the one on the link below.
