HP Envy: Deactivate Touchpad on HP Envy running Windows 10

How to disable permanently my (clickpad) touchpad on my laptop?  I know how to disable it temporarily, however I have re - turn off whenever I connect to my computer!  It's so frustrating and none of these forums, or the HP website have been able to answer this question.

Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post on disabling your touchpad under Win10 and wanted to help.

This thread on Win10 community forums dealt with the same issue and the last poster claims to have a solution: http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/22272-synaptics-touchpad-windows-10-wont-disable.html

Please let me know if it works.

Thank you

    Hi Ricksd,

    Welcome to the HP Forum.

If you still have an old driver Validity Sensor in your system, you may need to upgrade to one that supports 8.1:

    sp58869 validity sensor V4.4.234.0 Win8

If you still use an older version of the HP SimplePass software, you may need to upgrade the program.

If you have recently upgraded to 8.1 Windows, make sure that all of your Windows updates are up-to-date.

If everything is already at the level of the correct version, then you can get away with just reset the drivers:

    • Close all your programs and shut down your computer
    • Unplug everything (little unifying for the keyboard / mouse external can stay)
    • Perform the Hard Reset for your laptop
    • Start the computer and connect

If the Hard Reset does not help,

so check out this guide for advice on how to relax program in order:

  • I have a new HP Envy with Windows 8 desktop computer that still does not run properly. I rebooted, restored, ran chkdsk, sfc/scannow, uninstall/install update etc...

I have a new HP Envy with Windows 8 desktop computer that still does not run properly. I have rebooted, restored (im doing this), ran chkdsk, sfc/scannow, malware, virus, uninstall/install etc and my machine wil always do not run for a long time without going through some sort of problem after an hour or two.  Can anyone suggest what to do about this? I read a lot of information online on all the windows 8 and fixes bugs, etc, but anything Microsoft/Windows, which ensures its customers, a hotfix or compesating their customers with software that still works. This isn't a hardware problem, and I can't keep day and bad shooting and trying to fix the day things in?

    Sincerely,
A client who is a loss for words.
Here are some problems in no particular order.
1.) apps to not install it, and/or Windows saying they are when they are in fact not. The fix to install / uninstall, or get on the site of windows directly in general does not, and or does not at all.
The change permissions 2.) does not work on files that you should be able to access in changing oxnership, permissions, etc.
3.) Google chrome won't let me access my account of microsoft (or fact rarely) trying to access assistance. But internet Explorer doesn't?
Randomly will increase from Internet 4.) a previous connection wired to wireless to a reboot.
5.) my 8 'key' windows was only shown to me after that I have let Windows scan my machine online? Why? I paid for this... I restarted it and it says: service not available (it worked the third attempt which was 1-3 minutes after the initial analysis). Windows only showed my product ID not the key. I know that my victory. 8 was OEM when preinstalled I bought it new, but why didn't we files on it that had nothing to do with activation, appearing on dates for three weeks, or so before I bought it. What is the 'activation of the factory'?
6 :) Windows Essentials does not hang for a long time, and the troubleshooterprogram of update simply does not work (I had to go to the website to try tp operate, the bluetooth functionality is not good that there is an error.
7.) windows scan and repair gets stuck at 27% (Im not the only one with this problem).
8.), avery MS Office 2013 Disappears so often and not easy to reload "we have encountered a problem.

The computer manufacturer is responsible to see that it works properly with Windows 8. It says that it is a new computer I contact HP and make these problems their. If you don't get satisfactory results I turn and look elsewhere for a computer. Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

  • Deskjet 6988 printer to wireless network (laptop Envy w / Windows 8.1)

I got my printer HP Deskjet 6988 years and still it was connected to my desktop via a USB 2.0 cable. I bought a laptop HP Envy with Windows 8.1 and want to connect the printer through my servant/Belkin router network, as the USB 2.0 cable provided with the printer does not seem to work in the USB ports of the desire for direct printing. The software disk did not work in the laptop, so I downloaded the software and utility software (printing and scanning) to 8.1 on the HP site.

I ran the download, the installation wizard has started, said "the wizard will connect to the internet and help install the best software available for your printer." I clicked on next, and opens a window "Device discovery" and then an another "recovering the device" then... nothing.  The wizard window closes. My installation manual is useless. It tells me to use the wizard on the software disk that does not work on my laptop (and is obsolete and for the operating system still wrong, because it was for my office, which took place on VIsta.)

I somehow managed to get the printer installed on the laptop - I can see it under the available printers.  And if I have an ethernet cable connected directly from the printer to my router, it will print. But if I unplug the ethernet cable, it will not print. I can't keep the ethernet cable is connected for printing, because the router is in my living room, behind the TV and my office is on the floor. I prefer not to keep my printer on the floor of the living room by our TV, so I really need to work wireless!

My problem is how to make the printer added to my network (Belkin router) servant. The wireless router is all set up and functional - I use actually it from now to access the internet and to post this message.

So, my printer is installed on my laptop. The driver is the most recent, intalled today HP.com and I don't have a software disc to use for a Setup Wizard.

What are the next steps to connect my printer on the network, so I can print wireless? If all goes well, I gave enough information. I have read all sections of the HP.com customer help on service and none of them seem to tell me what to do.

    Thank you!

By a lot of trial and error, I actually thought about it myself. I did a lot of jumping around, so I hope that I can remember what I did:

    (1) install the printer driver using the diskette or download.

    (2) connect the printer to the router by an ethernet cable, which looks like a big phone cord (no need to connect the printer to your laptop).
    3) implement the system of the laptop 'search' on your laptop and in search type "Network" and then click on the 'Network' link to open it.

    (4) you should see the icon for the printer on your computers and other devices already present on the network.

    (5) double click/tap on the icon of the printer and it will open 'web page' the printer in your browser.

    (6) click / tap the 'Network' tab near the top of the scren.

    (7) in the left sidebar, under 'Connections', click 'Wireless' to open it.

    (8) start and use the wizard to enter your router information. (You must specify the printer a different name here, so you can distinguish it from all other printers on your laptop.) For example, I named mine "Deskjet" 6988 Network)

    (9) unplug the power cord of the printer ethernet.

    (10) If your wireless printer does not appear in the list of printers when you go to print something, you'll need to add:

    11) open looking for new portable computer system and type "Devices and printers" and click / tap on the link.

    12) click on the link "Add a printer" upward. The computer will search for printers and the new network printer should appear in the list (hint: he wil have an IP address in the 'Address' column rather than a file.)

    (13) add the network printer and run the test to ensure that it works. Make your default printer and may delete all other 6988 printers listed if you want to.

    (14) you should now see your network printer in the printer list when you go to print something.

I hope this helps someone else someday!

  • Envy Touchsmart Windows 8.1 update 15-j05cl - black screen

Have a HP Touchsmart, envy 15-j057cl. I can't upgrade to Windows 8.1. I did the following:

    1 installed all windows updates.

2 went to HP support for machine page and installed all the drivers.

    3. don't run Windows - no problem identified compatibility Manager.

4 deleted Norton preinstaled. No antivirus software is enabled.

    5. attempt to update the Windows store.

    6. black screen.

Back in Windows 8. Windows has reported various attempts through error messages, including:

    0xc1900101 - 0x3000D

    Then-

    1. drivers for bluetooth and Ralink wifi disabled

2 attempt 8.1 windows update of windows store

    3 black Screen

    Back in windows 8

I tried very hard to make sure I've gotten all the latest drivers and BIOS, including the chipset drivers. I have not installed any other software. I also disabled any driver that I can not have everything while the update fails.

I need to get back to work. Any thoughts?

    Thank you...

The saga continued, but it had a happy ending.

On the advice of the HP support, I uninstalled the driver Intel HD, booted safe mode and then tried the Windows 8.1 update. This time the update completed, but he returned to the black screen when I tried to install version 8.1 of Intel HD display driver. At this time, of course, it wasn't able to go back to Windows 8.0, so I had to completely reinstall the operating system from scratch. Good thing, I had all my saved data.

After this experience, I gave up for a while, but he contacted the HP support to express my displeasure.  I went to a case manager, who contacted me the HP SmartFriend support.

Today, we did an update of the BIOS. This new version of the BIOS F.53, just released on March 10, 2014 (after I had made my last attempt to make the update). After updating the BIOS, I have successfully completed update 8.1 Win. I then checked to make sure I had the latest version of the Intel HD Display Adapter driver and I did. Actually, the pilot that is displayed on the page for the driver for my machine was older than the version I have installed. So far so good.

It seems that the solution to the problem was for HP to do a BIOS update.

  • HP Envy 7640: HP Envy 7640 & Windows 8.1

Recently, we have replaced a Canon printer with all-in-one HP Envy 7640.

I'm having a lot of problems with this printer and suspect it has to do with Windows 8.1.

Printing to printer to computer take forever

Printer expires by printing the partial page

Print job appears on the what is printing, but then disappears and prints ever

Does not print .pdf, they can print a single page, then time out

Have had printer printing garbage characters or lines on the page instead of document

I tried to go to the HP printer install tool, but when he goes to the HP support page to get all the drivers is a blank white page.

I'm right next to me on all these problems.  I print a lot!  It's terribly frustrating, and I don't know what to do!

New laptop Toshiba running Windows 8.1 64-bit

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

    Hello @CampbellVA,

I'm glad to hear that your machine seems to work fine now after that the Microsoft fix took effect. The strange of print jobs coming out right after that patch running have been probably "stuck" in the printing on the Windows computer system. Corrupt print jobs can get stuck in your print spooler. The print spooler is the printing system built into your computer. This is a feature of the Windows operating system. All printers, regardless of the brand or the model based on the print to print spooler. In the future, if you want to check for all travaux work corrupt print in the print spooler, please follow the steps below.

    1. Open the screen, Start by selecting the Windows icon at the bottom left of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key bottom left of your keyboard to the right of the Ctrl key
    2. In the start screen, type run. Click run.
    3. In the Run dialog box, type services.msc and click OK
    4. In the Services window, scroll down and select the print spooler. Just click on it once to highlight
    5. At the top left, select STOP
    6. Minimize the Services window, because I will need to come back here.
    7. Open the Start screen again.  This time type computer. Click on the computer (or on This PC) when it fills.
    8. Under the screen of the computer, select your Drive C
    9. Select Windows
    10. Select System32
    11. Select the coil
    12. Some PRINTERS. You can get a pop 'permissions' up, just continue past this screen.
    13. The PRINTERS folder must be empty. If all files in this folder they represent damaged print jobs. Right click on all files in that folder and 'Remove' them.
    14. Close the PRINTERS folder
    15. Reopen the window services and at the top left, select Start to start your print spooler.

All corrupt print jobs are deleted from your computer.

The printing problems in Windows 8 and 8.1 operating systems seem to affect various ranges of printers. It is not a problem specific to HP. rather, it is a problem in the Windows operating system. With the patch released by Microsoft to correct the different Windows 8 and 8.1 printing problems, there are very likely additional updates Windows Update published. I think that the best course of action to avoid future problems of printing would be to run your Windows updates on a regular basis.

Please let me know if your machine continues to react and print correctly for you!

This happens to you to other devices connected to the wifi? If not its probably your router, you can buy a new see if that helps or swich for cable.
