  I work in a computer shop doing repairs and sales. We are big fans of Toshiba laptops and very rarely problems of experience with those we sell. I see, however, that the Satellite L650D-102 seems to have a design defect with regard to the way in which the display is anchored to the bottom of the laptop plastic. I had half a dozen computers laptops that were brought back to the shop with a display of 'loose '.

  After disassemble the laptop I noticed that where it screws into the bottom plastics it is really broken since the bottom plastics. I was wondering if this would be covered by warranty Toshiba or if someone else has this problem?

  I m wondering really you have noticed this on Satellite L650D-102. General design of laptops and the hinges of the screen in particular should be the same or identical on the series L650/L650D.

  As a result of this forum, I guess you're the first person who claims on this subject. In any case, I recommend you contact the closest service Toshiba and pick up some info on this. I hope that the guys at Toshiba will be able to give you all the necessary information.

  Return to warranty. If this broken hinges are the result of some defect or Design materials failure I m pretty sure replacement will be covered by the Toshiba warranty. Of course cell must not be already dismantled by an independent service initially. This will void the warranty of Toshiba s.

  why Don t you just send your machine to a service partner? If you still have warranty there should be no problem asking for a repair service partner.
  Otherwise, if you want to do it yourself, you have to look at google and type "yourmachinename hinges" and you should at least found a dealer who is selling parts.

  The manual says "Disassemble the hinge (left) while drag and spin it.", but no matter how hard wiggle/slide/tour that I can't get out.

  Same problem with one of the other side.

  I got Lenovo U430 Touch at the end of August and have noticed that the hinge of the screen was not very strong but it was working again fine. But today the hinge is broken and I can't close the form properly without adjustment. I didn't drop it or damage and I looked and saw that other people had similar problems and say it was a failure of the production. Is there anyway I can get a replacement or what I send in repairs? I'm in College and I'm going to be needing for a few weeks so I can't send repairs yet. And if $99 fees are not covered by the warranty?   It's really amazing story and I think you're the first person who says something like that.
  Portege Z930 has long been on the market and I have never heard of these issues.
  Please don t get me wrong, but it is really strange that happening already three times.

  I saw this machine and all the construction seems pretty stable for me. When you open the screen, I hope that your fingers are placed in the middle of the display panel and not by the side. The pressure on the hinges of the screen coverage must be the same. If you want to display on one side only, I can imagine that something like this can happen, but it shouldn't t.

  Portege series is one of the best portable Toshiba s business so I think that the Toshiba and technicians designer take very seriously and I can't imagine that they make this mistake of design.

  I still have some old Portege 2000 and it was lighter for laptop at this time with very sensitive display and the hinges of the screen cover, but there is no problem at all.

  We can discuss here everyday and I really hope that someone with the Portege even can post experiences, but all of that, that you try to clarify with Toshiba. Be careful when you open and hold the display in the Middle only.

  I turned my HP 15-R006TU laptop to Hibernate mode before going to sleep last night. Today morning when I turned it on half of the screen was white with a few lines inside. All software and operating system works very well. Its like it has a white cover on the left side of the screen. I can't access start menu because it is on the left side of the screen.

  I turned off my laptop and unplugged the adapter, then turned on again, but it remains the same. I have not changed the drivers or anything recently. I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and I use the dongle Auntie Photon Max for internet. My laptop is only 2 years. I don't have anything I can remember damage the laptop and, finally, I used it, everything was fine.

  It's the material. Can you connect to an external monitor? If the output is OK outside then we have reduced to a bad display cable or a bad screen. Much more likely the latter.

  You have the 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 screen, which is the most common type. Very cheap and replacing the screen is easier than you think. We will also need to assess the problem of screen hinge and eventually replace the hinge.
