The end result is that I found that the administrative password for my 8600 died with the old Mac that I have been unable to recover the keychain that had all the information a password in it. I wish now that more importance was pointed out in the instructions when passwords have been set up, on the future need for them to use as many important features of the printer.

  I see that you are trying to reset the administrative password for your HP Officejet Pro 8600, and I'm happy to help you!

  You can do a reset of the printer using the LED screen on the printer. Select Configuration, then Tools, then restore the default settings. "Restore default settings" is the last element of the list, and then you must scroll down to see it.
   
  This clears all the settings of the printer, including the administrator password.

  You should be able to remove the need for a power on password as follows.

  Shut down the laptop.

  Now on TAP the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to access the start menu, then select f10 to open the Bios menu.

  Use the arrows to select the Security tab and press ENTER.  Use the arrow keys again to highlight the power on password and press ENTER.

  Enter the current password and then the new password, simply leave this blank and press on enter - do the same for the confirmation field.  Press f10, select this option to save the new settings and press to enter.

  Here are 2 options to change the password for administrator lost without learning. Hoping that they can work for you!
  Option 1: If you can log on to your laptop computer with an administrator account, you can change the password following the steps:
  1. right click on computer, select manage.
  2. in the local users and groups who come, double-click local users and groups and then click users.
  3. right click on the account you need to reset the password and then click on set password.
  4. enter and confirm the new password.
  Note: you can also go to display users and groups by clicking on the button start and type lusrmgr.msc in the search box.

  Start system and when you see Windows Welcome screen / login screen, press ctrl + alt + delete twice and it'll show classic login box. Now, type \Administrator\ (without quotes) in username and leave the password empty field. Now, press Enter and you should be able to log on to Windows.

  Same thing can be done in Mode without failure. In Safe Mode Windows will display this account of administrator in the login screen.
