Hi guys, I tried to downgrade a HP G71-449WM laptop to XP Pro SP3 so far I have everything except the WIFI and sound. I tried all the drivers on the Xp Downgrade Guide wifi but none doesn't seem to work, I tried to search the Win7 drivers to see if I could at least identify what brand it is (Intel, Broadcom, Atheros, etc.), but it lists no WIFI Drivers on the Support page. All ideas are welcome.

I think you'll Atheros, but not 100% on that. Atheros seems to be giving XP downgraders, grief most right now... with the sp42654 listed in guide with the highest success rate at present.

  • Drivers for Notebook G71-449WM wireless module

Recently, I have re-formatted my laptop G71-449wm Windows 7 HP 64-bit installation. I don't have a restore cd, but all the drivers were found immediately from the start, but one. For some reason any card wireless driver is not found, and after reboot, I get a message in the sequence start the wireless module is not correctly installed or missing drivers. So, here am I, the site does not have an explicit 'Wireless' driver for download, how can I managed to get my hands on this driver?

If you get this msg to start on a black screen, which indicates that we have the hardware problem... I suggest, reinsert the wireless card, do a power drain and by default the BIOS... See if the problem is right...

  • HP g71: recovery disc I made when buying laptop do not seem to work

I have a g71-449wm laptop, windows 7.  When I bought, I burned the recovery discs (3).  I had to replace the drive hard when one is dead.  is go to the Recovery Manager, selected system recovery, charged each of the three recovery discs when he told me to.  After the 3rd disc, manager says remove all disks, and then click Next for laptop restart and continue the recovery. This is where the problem occurs. It won't restart and if I turn it off then back begins around asking for the recovery disks. any ideas?

Sounds like your recovery disks is corrupted.  You can buy a drive for recovery of your product from the Internet HP site if you are unable to make one yourself.

  • Need new hard drive, but have not the disks in Windows 7 OS

Recently, I had some problems with my PC and was able to restore the factory settings.  Now it seems that my hard drive is bad and needs to be replaced.  I have a HP G71-449WM model, produces WA606UA.

Will it also find Windows 7 OS disks somewhere?  I didn't need one when I did the restore to factory.

It's the hard drive, which I intend to purchase:

    http://www.Amazon.com/Toshiba-5400rpm-replacement-G71-449WM-WA606UA/DP/B00JRLAYMW/ref=sr_1_2?s=elect...

    Hello

First of all, the HARD drive in your link is fine, even if you can consider a slightly faster (7200 RPM) - for example, either of the drives on the following links would be very well for your laptop.

    Hard drive 500 GB

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 64 of your & Maintenance Guide.

    ***************************************************

Regarding the reinstallation of the operating system on the new drive, there are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the Disk Image correct ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings) to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Windows Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

  • Best battery to buy.

My product is HP G71-449W laptop.  I'm trying to understand what is the best battery to replace my death with.  I like to use on the go, and I'm very tired of always having to make sure I'm somewhere I can plug to use.

    lgerst

You definitely want the 12-cell battery of long lifetime like this:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/genuine-12-cell-battery-HP-G71-449WM-G71-329WM-G71-343US-G71-349WM-G61-511WM-new-/390701136972?PT=Laptop_Batteries&hash=item5af79a3c4c

This will give you the greater longevity. It also creates a bulge on the bottom which raises the laptop for better cooling.

It's a real HP battery. You can use a knock off and save some cash but at your own risk.

  • 0xc000007b error code when you open Windows Help and Support

    I am running Windows 7 Home on a HP G71-449WM laptop .

It is a double question I guess.  I was troubleshooting my web cam doesn't work does not and was directed to reinstall a mediasmart missing file to test because I couldn't locate.  Tried this and it would not install.  Downloaded fine, but would not install properly.

He suggested then I go to Windows Help and Support, and when I try to run I get the same code, there was an error and the program does not load error 0x000007b code.

How to fix this?   I'm pretty comfortable with troubleshooting on mine, but I can't even solve the problems now.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • BOOTMGR is missing & C:\RM\Image\Tempbase.WIM missing

This is a repost of what I put on a thread of someone else started.  I need a solution as soon as POSSIBLE.

    ________________________________________________________________________________

Well, I'm not theresamauser, but I'm having the same problem.  To put it in simpler terms, I'm trying to fix a laptop of HP G71-449WM here.  The operating system has completely disappeared and when I put in the recovery discs (issued by HP) I get no option of language or layout or whatever it is, it gives me a warning about erasing the whole disc to reinstall Windows.  I follow the steps from there.  He comes at the point of the 3 notches.  (1) reformat the Windows hard disk partition. (Finishes No Problem) 2) copy the files needed to restore the hard disk.  (arrive à 80 % puis a besoin dele de disque 2, après disc2 qu'une partie deles de finitions) then part 3) restoration of files on the hard drive.     Once completed, part 2, before she begins the third part, it gives the error message "C:\RM\Image\tempbase.wim not found".  At that time, recovery stops and the only option is to click OK.  Nothing else happens after that and I cannot to a hard stop now pressed the power button.  On the next startup, it shows the recovery of the return page behaves as if windows installed successfully and tells me to restart.  So, I reboot, and the said THAT BOOTMGR is missing.  I tried using bootsect.exe to restore the BOOTMGR (that I had to get out because it is not on the recovery disc) and no luck.  Sometimes, it is as if it will work, but only if there is no other files on the hard drive.  I never get all the options to select computer repair, startup repair, all the options either.  Just wipe, reinstall, error, reboot, error... and then start pulling hair.  That's why I hate pieces exclusive _ like HP, Dell and all their loved ones.  I had much rather stick Custom builds with full-on records of Windows instead of the junk with their logos all over them.

It is a serious mistake and "may" not be fixable without a professional technical support
a real computer store (not the leeks and the glances at a BestBuy or other BigBox stores) or your

  • G71-340US notebook: no sound after 10 Windows free update of WIN7 on a G71-340US laptop with CODEC IDT.

After the free upgrade to WIN7 for WIN10 my laptop has no noise (with internal or external speakers). I tried to uninstall driver IDT and allowing windows 10 to reinstall the driver through scanning for changes of HW - still no sound. I would appreciate any guidance or fixes to this problem. Thank you.

I'm happy to announce that I now have sound on my laptop G71-340US. After that more detailed error troubleshooting I found that there is an application called IDT Audio PC (aka IDT HD Sound) installed on my laptop by HP (OEM), I think. While I don't know exactly what function of this application is, it seems, it is related to activation of the feature of IDT HD Codec drivers. Somehow, I decided to look in Task Manager - startup and I saw this listed IDT Audio PC. I clicked on disable and then a minute later clicked on activate. After I did that, as simple as it seems, I have now heard both internal and external speakers. This is the first time I heard all the sounds since the upgrade to WIN10. I checked several times by re-booting my laptop and every time I now have sound. I will continue to test it through the week and see if it continues to be OK. In the meantime, I thought I'd share this potential fix (or solution) with all stakeholders. Perhaps others will find this useful and give me your comments. Fingers crossed!

PS. BTW, if anyone out there knows what PC IDT sound is by all means share your knowledge. I'm curious why this app appears more often in the forum messages and how it can relate to the WIN10 upgrade. Sorry, but I do not remember what prompted me to look at the task - starting but Manager I'm glad I did. It's great to hear again!
