  Rather than use f11, try to run diagnostices in the Menu of the Bios as follows.

  Shut down the laptop.  Tap away at the esc you key start Notepad to open the Start Menu.  Select the BIOS (usually f10 ) and under the Advanced or the Diagnostic tab, you will find the possibility to run tests on the hard drive and memory.  Post back with the details of any error message.

• Refomatted my computer laptop and reinstalled windows, something does not work now help please

  so, I recently wiped my drive hard clean for a fresh start, installed windows 7 but now some of the features that use to work no longer work. For instances when I press F1 and F2 buttons my brightness will not upwards or downwards, I can't lock the touchpad more then now the cursour jumps around. I have download the AIDA64 because a friend told me this program to tell me which is the material that I have in my laptop, but the only thing I get from this was that network PCI/PnP is Realtek RTL8139/810 x Fast Ethernet Adapter and believe me, I completely lost m. I regret when I remember I did this thinking, it would be as easy as I do on a PC, where I did this several times without problem. Please help me and thank you very much in advance

  a. Click Start--> programs-->--> Communications accessories-click--> select--> right click on your connection network connections and select Properties.
   
  b. click on the Authentication tab--> disable / uncheck the authentication of the IEEE 802 option. 1 x for this network.
   
  c. click on apply. Click OK.

  Thanks for your attempt to solve my problem.

  After nealy 3 hours to dig my laptop to get answers, I literally stumbled upon the answer to my question.

  I downloaded all available sound updates and inside the last of them was control of the microphone.

  A little tweaking and everything was back to an assembled recording device.

• 1 laptop in the House do not using wre54g amplifier - help!

  I have a Linksys wireless router that works very well in the case of beach, but was weaker in some parts of the House, so I recently took the wre54g amplifier and life is good for 2 / 3 computers.  I have 2 laptops running Windows XP, the latest service pack (1 IBM, the other Dell) and both of these laptops use the amplifier.  My Sony Vaio laptop is running Windows Vista 64-bit with the latest service pack and do not connect using the amplifier, but rather the lowest wireless router.  In addition, the connection drops frequently to the router, don't know if it's because the signal is weak or some other problem.  The Sony has a built-in by Atheros wireless card model AR928x, latest version of the driver 7.7.0.331.  I have also updated the wre54g firmware to the latest version yesterday, but he has not made a difference.  All 3 laptops connect using the same WEP key, even though I tried different tones and there is no difference.  It's really frustrating and not sure what to try next.  A few questions:

  (1) when I search or connect you to wireless networks, I see only one network (not a router) and another for the Extender, so I can't connect manually to the Extender.  Is it the way it is supposed to be?  I guess yes because my 2 other laptops with XP are the same.

  (2) is it possible to force a connection through the extender?

  (3) are there problems of compatibility with Vista?  I have searched the forum and read a lot of discussion, but found nothing on it.

  Any help is appreciated, would really like to fix this!

  OK, I solved this problem!  I removed the wireless network connection for my home network in Vista and created a new and now is using the extender connection and not the connection to the wireless router.  The connection to use the height of the 2, I would have expected, but this is not the case.  So, in the end, a simple solution.  Hope this helps someone to another share the same problem.

  You will need to replace the drive hard as the bios test indicates he does not physically, so wiping will not solve the problem.  It's a quick procedure to replace the HARD drive and a new will cost you about $40.  As I said, let me know if you need a quick guide on how to do this.
