HP Laserjet MFP M175nw 100: Laserjet 100 keeps needing to be reinstalled

Most often when I go to print something on my Laserjet MFP M175nw 100 nothing happens until the printer is re-installed.   I connected the desktop pc and do not use the wireless from my PC doesn't have a wireless card.  The pc is connected to a router that is also wireless.

I had to reinstall the printer several dozen times.  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hey @Rsisaacs,

I'm sorry to hear that the troubleshooting steps I provided could not solve your problem of USB connectivity. Because your printer is installed and connected via the USB cable connection there should be no reason that the wireless on your HP Laserjet should hinder communication. That being said, if you want to disable the wireless on your printer just follow the steps below.

  1. Click on Setup (key) button on the control panel of your printer
  2. Press the right arrow next to OK more to the Network Configuration and select OK
  3. Select the Wireless Menu , and then select OK
  4. Select Direct wireless and OK
  5. Make sure that The Direct wireless is turned OFF
  6. Then arrow to turn wireless on / off right and click OK
  7. Make sure the Wireless is turned OFF

Computers can install the printer in a ' use offline' mode which will not allow your printer. The computer will be actually "think" that your printer is not connected, when in reality, your printer is connected and ready to print. This problem can be resolved by ensuring that the 'Use printer offline' is not activated. However, this setting does not affect the scanning. In your previous post, you indicate that this problem affects both printing and scanning, so I don't think that this question is about the feature 'use printer offline '. However, if you want to check this setting if your printer is not printing, simply follow the steps below.

  1. Click on the Start menu
  2. Select the devices and printers
  3. Right-click on your HP Laserjet Printer
  4. Left click on "see what's printing ' "
  5. When the print queue window opens you will see 'printer', 'Document' and 'see' along the top
  6. Click on the printer
  7. Make sure 'Use printer offline ' is not checked.

Another parameter that can be causing this conflict of USB communication can be the Smart Install feature on your printer. Smart Install causes your printer to be 'detected' as an installation CD. This means that if you install your printer you do it not the software CD. You simply plug the USB cable from the printer into your computer and start the installation. There is a chance that your computer will sometimes detect the printer as a software CD rather than a real printer with this function. To disable this feature, please follow the steps below.

  1. Select the installation program (key) on the control panel of your printer
  2. Arrow in the Service menu on the right and click OK
  3. To Smart Install of right arrow and click OK
  4. Smart install turn OFF and select OK

Test your printer to make sure that the USB communication problem has been resolved. Good luck!

In the software, select the option print.
Select the appropriate printer name, and then click Properties or preferences.
    Select the paper/quality tab.

  • HP LaserJet Color MFP M175nw 100 prints, but not scan

This problem has just appeared out of nowhere the LaserJet printer prints (so it is connected), but when I run the HP basic digitization program, I get the error message that the scanner is not connected.  I rebooted and restarted the printer. Also, I downloaded and ran printing HP and doctor Scan. It detects the printer and the scanner as "installed", but when I ask him to communicate with the scanner, it is said that the "selected product is not conencted".  When I try printer (same ip address), it detects it and gives me the possibility of "Difficulty Printing" or "problem analysis". On the "difficulty of analysis", it says "establishing connection with Scanner", but loops back to the beginning of the process, without success.  Now, it will blow your mind, if I screen Win-8 Metro and run the HP and Capture digitization program, the scan works perfectly (Although this scan utility is more limited than the regular version of HP-Scan). So, here I am trying to solve a communication connection problem, when none really exists.  Has anyone ever seen this situation? Anyone got the answers?

I fought this problem since I bought the color printer. I understand that the printer is discontinued. I love it, I have two, they work great, except for this problem.

    Now my conclusions and solution.

After installing the software, it works fine. After a while it doesn't. Some software installed HP must be retired by anti-virus programs or gets too writes because he went, so that the scanner doesn't scan. I have yet to find what is happening to the scan software, but it disappears.

My solution...  I remove all the software printer HP 100, including port data in the configuration of the printer. If you have installed several times, you will have a list of information about the printer port, remove it.

I use their basic installation software. Usually always scan not scan. You must install it AGAIN, during the first installation. It works every time, until it disappears again.

HP technical support has no idea on this issue. I spent more than seven hours talking to probably all the tech they have without success. Finally it me they would make me a 'deal' on a printer company.

I would like to know if you find that zapped installs it HP. As far as I know is it disappears and the scanner no longer works.

  • LaserJet Color MFP M175nw 100: Cannot reinstall the software to update driver (after having uninstalled by following the instructions on the support page)

My ability to scan stopped initially with the ADF (ADF) and then altogether.  I downloaded the new drivers and uninstalled my current (using HP Unistaller) HP software according to the instructions on the support page.

Now, I can not reinstall the software (the installation hangs on the verification stage) so I can't hope to upgrade the driver.

    Hi @kbsmcd,

I can help you install the software and solve the original problem that you experienced when you try to scan from the document feeder. Complete the following steps in the order I present them in and let me know the results of your efforts:

    Reset the printing system

  • HP LJ MFP M175nw 100 - Menu access is disabled

    Hello

I have problems with my printer. I can't access any of the settings, I do not know the IP address of the printer, so I'm unable to access the web interface.

I can't do the factory reset as all menus comes up with "Menu access is disabled.

Is there a way to reset the printer? Any help is very appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Hi scolman55,

I see by your post that you are unable to access the menu of the printer and need to know if you can do a hard reset.

I'll be happy to help you.

I'll send you a PM (private Message), but before you start, please see the HP Privacy Statement. This privacy statement informs you of our privacy practices and the choices you can make about the way information about you and your online activity is collected and how that information is used. This statement is available on our homepage at the bottom of each web page of HP and HP.com.

There are a growing number of messages in this forum and elsewhere in the internet with the steps to do a reset on different printers. Reset to will sometimes fix problems, so resetting is not the issue.

A few resets require you to enter key combinations to open special menus on your printer that you were supposed to never access. These special menus are used by developers and staff support for debugging of problems, but they are not intended for inexperienced users and can have unexpected results. A wrong button push and you might no longer have a printer, but rather an expensive paper weight. On top of that, if you happen to the 'brick' the printer in this way, it is considered as customer induced damage and voids the warranty automatically. These resets are only intended to be distributed and used as a last resort and under the direct instruction of a representative of the HP technical support. They should not be made lightly.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi yarzig

I understand that you are unable to configure the wireless to the printer.

Make sure that the computer is on the right side of the network.

Unplug the ethernet cable from the printer.

Restore the default settings of the printer.

Arrow to restore default settings, ok ok, right on the selection of the printer setup button, arrow right in the service menu.

Print a configuration report to check that there are no IP address and name of your network. (SSID)

Go to the install button (key) on the printer, arrow to the reports on the right, select config report.

Now, connect the ethernet cable from the printer to the router.

Wait about 1 minute and print the configuration page to get the IP address.

If you have an IP address valid address for the printer, try and access the web server integrated.

Type the IP address into the internet address bar explore.

If it loads the page from the network printer then the printer is on the network.

Now, we can configure the wireless connection.

Click on the tab of networking, on the left, select Wireless, fill in the information. Apply the settings, once you get a response back, and then disconnect the ethernet cable from the printer.

Should get a solid blue light on the printer.

Now, run the Add Printer Wizard.

If you use Windows 7, go to start, devices and printers, add printer, go through the wizard. Should find the printer and install the driver. If not, go to add printer, select local, select Create a new port, click on menu drop-down and select TCP\IP, next, type the IP address of the printer. Continue the wizard.

Make sure the printer is online.

Test it wireless and see if you can now print.

  • LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw: Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw will not connect wireless - used to work properly

OK - I'm out of here.

I've owned a Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw for awhile, and it worked perfectly.

Installed the software for 2 computers at home and everything worked well.

Last week, I changed the password to my router for the home network.

The printer showed as "offline".  I couldn't change the status.

After much trying I totally uninstalled the software, deleted the printers on my PC and reinstalled.

I run the installer - tell him I want to go and so that it can detect my wireless network settings.  (I also tried the option where I have to enter the information manually). All else fails.

Setup starts and then asks me to install the USB cable.  I do that and the installation program is going very slowly (I mean it crawls along) and wrote "Product has been detected", "Waiting for installation of the product at the end. Then I get a big red 'X' and it is said that it took too long to run and a fatal error occurrred or he tells me that it cannot find a product to install.  If I run the installer and say USB only, it works very well.  Ugh.

When I press the button on the front panel wireless and it flashes only and that's all.

Here's what I did - full power / turn off the PC and the router.  Updated the firmware of the printer used the new installer (all from the HP website).  Tried it on 2 different PC to ensure that it was not isolated.

The USB cable is good because after the failure, I can print via USB (I lost a forest to print the test pages).  Same PC and OS for both when I bought the printer.

Ironically, I spent several years in this DOCUMENT, so it's not familiar works for me, just very frustrating!

Well, I finally had it - realized that the WIFI adapter on the PC had to have the new password entered.

It was step 1.  Step 2 followed another post where I attached the printer directly via ethernet to the router cable, and once the IP address appears in the menu of the printer, I entered on my browser and the name of the router is entered, pw and managed to turn off the wireless printer on.  Then, by running the installer worked like a charm.  Woo-Hoo

  • locking password for admin - LaserJet 100 color MFP M175nw

    Hello

I just bought a 100 LaserJet color MFP M175nw. Went in the menu of the box tools and entered a password. The next thing that happened is that I can not connect because it says that the password is incorrect

(Might have to do with my generated passwords and some characters is not allowed for the password (wouldn't be the first time, generally to get a new password is a matter of resetting is by mail).)

Anyone who is willing to tell me how to reset the unit? Also where can I find the serial number of the device? What is the small sticker under the scanner glass?

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards.

    Sjoerd

Solved with quick intervenience of HP telephone support team. EU to hold a few buttons and reset has been done. The most difficult thing was to find the serial number of the printer, it doesn't seem to be anywhere on the device (down, front, back, inside,...) Me that I still had the box where it is "also" printed on the chance.

I also discovered what was wrong with the password. It does not longer then 16-character password and those that I pasted my password generator/Manager is 20 characters by default. For example, when you enter it symply ignored the finals four characters.

Phone support credits for pick up the phone fast, also thanks to the technical support.

    Hi Watcher35,

I see that the Laserjet Pro 100 ACM M175NW new is missing print in the middle of the pages, you ran cleaning and color calibration, but the issue is not resolved.

    Hi mazz154,

If any of the cartridges get stuck the carousel could not turn depending on how stuck cartridge is. To move the carousel you must have released brake and then find a place on the carousel to do turn to the next cartridge door. Just make sure that you do not touch the mag of the cartridges ink roller with your finger as the oil on your hands can damage the toner mag roller. Any expert know about this?

I need to know more information about what is happening here to start. It seems that you are experiencing printing problems, but I can't get a lot of information that you presented. All the information show me is that the file could not be accepted by the print job. I'm going to need to know what it is that you print file type and size, the program you are printing the form, if you are still able to print other documents from other programs, how long it lasts and any other relevant information.

Departure, we will perform the two resets in this video:

Then, if you use a USB cable, make sure to remove (this is important). Do not plug it in again until the software instructs you. Through devices and printers, programs and features and issues Device Manager and make sure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. As indicated, and then restart the computer.

OK, I'm about to explode a joint here. I bought a new router and I have now the 100 HP Laser Jet color MFP M175nw problems to connect. I can connect and print via USB, but not wireless. I can see the printer on my computer in the Network Center and he has five bars of signal WiFi. I uninstalled everything and run the MS Utility and then reinstalled the software. Even with the USB cable plugged in, I can't open the Toolbox HP because it does not connect. I can connect to the printer via a network cable to my route, and I can see but not print. Right now I use a network open with bonds. The blue wirless button keeps blinking on the printer. I have reset the default printer. I connected to my router and I tried to conect it there as well. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    Hi @flexcuff ,

I see by your post you are having problems setting up the printer on the wireless network. I will definitely do my best to help you.

Restore the default settings of the network printer.

    • Press the Setup button. (key)
    • Select the network configuration Menu.
    • Then select default settings.

Print a configuration report to ensure that the IP address is 0.0.0.0 and the SSID is disabled.

    Print a Configuration report.

Here are the instructions to set up the printer via the Direct wireless set up the printer on the network as the Infrastructure.

Turn the wireless directly on the printer.

On the printer, press the setup button, select (key) and network configuration menu, select wireless menu, select direct wireless and turn it on.

On the computer, in the lower right corner, click on the wireless icon, and select the printer from the list to connect to. Then open Internet Explorer and type the IP address (192.168.223.1) of the printer in the address bar.
This will load the web server integrated for the printer.
Select the networking, Wi - Fi on the left side.
Fill in all your information network, select infrastructure, select the name of your network, set password and encryption type. Apply the settings.

Click on the wireless icon and connect to your network name.

Print a configuration report to ensure that the IP address is valid. (192... or 10...)

Now, create a new port, this will save you the time, instead of uninstall and then reinstall the software.

Go to start, devices and printers, right click on the printer, go to the printer properties, select the Ports tab.

Click Add Port, select the Port TCP/IP Standard, then New Port and follow the instructions in the wizard.
