  As stated above, I have a mini HP I had for about a year or more.  It came with windows xp installed on it.  After a while I wanted to try using Ubuntu on it and accidentally deleted windows partition and so any replacement by ubuntu.  Now, I would like to reinstall Windows.  I have a windows xp pro disc to do it with.  Now, I tried to boot from the cd so what ubuntu was installed - didn't work.  Wiped my drive HARD all over and then tried to boot from the cd - did not work.

  I am at a loss what to do.

  I solved the problem... without CMD... If anyone has this problem, the solution is to organize or press repeatedly the key icon at the time wndows wherever you turn on your computer... It may take a few tries... This will bring up the "faild start correctly" or the menu you get; When you have to force to shut down your computer, because it froze... use the arrow keys to select "safe mode with network" press ENTER... a menu will appear to tell you about the mode of your to... Press just enter or click on confirm. then connect to the ADMINISTRATOR (IT will BE an OPTION).. then simply go to the start menu... go to control panal... go to users and accounts, click the account that you can not connect to... and change the password... then shut down and restart your computer, and the newspaper with the new password.

• MIcrophone on HP mini 1000 does not work do not with Ubuntu

  Steps to follow:

  1. Use the posted above unlock code to access the BIOS
  2. Disable all passwords that are enabled
  3. If current password request - type the unlock code
  4. New password, simply press the ENTER key
  5. Repeat the same thing to check the password column.
  6. Then exit the BIOS saving & exit option to save the changes.

  Troubleshooting:

  Incase if the password does not work please try a Hard Reset as follows.

  1. Shut down the laptop
  2. Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery
  3. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds
  4. Plug the power supply/AC adapter (leave the battery for now) & start Notepad
  5. If now see you a password, please enter the same password I've shared before and press on enter

  I want to use the iMac as a display for the Mac mini, but it seems that thunderbolt display does not work (I can not upgrade to Windows 10 by pressing Cmd + F2)

  If command-F2 does not work

  If your iMac won't go to the target Display Mode when you press Control-F2, check these things:

  • Make sure the iMac that you try to use it as a screen that supports target Display Mode.
  • Make sure you are pressing Control-F2 on the keyboard which is connected to the iMac to use as a screen.
  • In the keyboard system preferences, if the check box is enabled to use all F1, F2, keys etc. as standard features, changes of command-Fn-F2 key combination.
  • Make sure that your Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt cable is connected to both computers.
  • If you are currently connected to the iMac, you want to use as a screen, try to connect to return to the login window. Then again press Control-F2.
  • Some old keyboards Apple and third-party keyboards allow may not control-F2 to toggle display modes. In this case, use the keyboard that came with your iMac to activate / deactivate the target Display Mode.
  • If your iMac is currently started in Windows, it will not be in target display mode. Target display mode is not supported in Boot Camp.

  When I ran the pc fix - it sollution for windows crashing the results were as follows: Windows search does not work.  The reason;  An event id is logged on to windows search.  Event id numbers are... 7042, 1? 006, 1000, 3024, 7040.

  You must be at Service Pack 3 level before you can use Windows updates.

• desktop to go - not suitable for my use of HP Mini 1000 Mi

  Not tapping on my Asus 901 Hardy Heron no xp. My Mini 1000 Mi arrived an hour ago. Update Manager is running. I put e-mail and installed Firefox Add-ons that I prefer. By doing these simple tasks, I noticed that the MIE Office will seriously interfere with my use of the Mini 1000 Mi. I want to use a desktop Ubuntu Hardy Heron based due to how they place on my desk, programs and files, I use every day. However, MIE office moves from one to the other more difficult for me, more laborious. I'm probably as a user may be that HP designers had in mind when you profile the customer waited. Anyway, before you start using my Mini for tasks related to work, so before entering crucial data installed, I'll try to find my way to a more traditional Ubuntu desktop. I searched this compartment of the forums and didn't find a similar lament. My hunch is that other users of Mini 1000 Mi (Ubuntu) want to escape at the interface of the BREAD, then perhaps that HP will soon offer a non-MIE as a standard option interface. Meanwhile, my research to find out how to have a traditional Ubuntu desktop should start. Suggestions of appropriate links would be appreciated.

  A USB key loaded with wiped the HP "Ubuntu" Hardy Heron and Hardy Heron 8.04 has been installed. Initially, wifi is not working, so I connected via ethernet, which worked well. Then update ~ 250 packages have been downloaded and installed. WiFi still did not work, so Admin > system > network leads to tweaking of WPA and a hexagon of 64-bit something or other. All of a sudden, the different sources of wifi (passworded and open) being found and reported by my Mini 1000 Mi now running Ubuntu Hardy Heron. Wireless is followed correctly. I'm looking for an Adobe Illustrator CS6 file named 'Only 5' I used the "only 5' and also"only 5.ai"search term  In any case it returns results that are anything but 'only 5 '.   I installed the latest update required for my iphone ios 6 a few days ago, and now when I try to download pictures from my iphone to my PC (via USB connection), the PC does not see the iphone.   iTunes sees it yet, but windows Explorer does not work.  It seems that some setting has been broken through the update of ios.  A way to solve this problem?

• Why is my hard drive (external) working on a Windows PC, but not on my Mac?

  I recently got a few files transferred to a friends computer to my external hard drive and when I plugged back on my Mac it wasn't appearig in the finder or disk utility. The power led on the hard drive lit. When I plugged it in my friends mac hard drive was there, but when you clicked on the folders they were all empty. We then plugged on a Windows computer, and it worked fine! What keeps it from working on Mac?

  The hard drive has been formatted in Mac (Mac OS Extended journaled) format.

  He worked on your Mac before that?

  Were the files that you copied from another Mac or Windows computer?

  You say you plugged into a computer in the window and it worked fine.

  A Windows computer will not read an external hard drive that is formatted as OS extended (journaled).

  So maybe it is formatted in NTFS in Windows.
