  I have: HP Mini 200-4200, pr B3R47EA #ABU nr. Hard drive died, received a new one and I've been waitng for the upcoming USB info. I just got my USB with the news of recovery on it in time. (Recovery USB key is - 685741-034)

  I followed the instructions, but in the Start Menu of Options, he didn t give me an external drive. He gave me 3 options - hard drive for HP laptop, network adapter.

  In the Conf system boot order appears like this: hard drive for laptop, USB floppy on say hard Key/Usb, CD-ROM Usb CD/dvd drive! USB floppy (with an exclamation point!) and network card. In the Boot Options startup disk has been disabled... I activated it. just in case... no idea what it means. After this USB doesn´t floppy have a "!" in this topic.

  Should I change here something to conditioned USB option? The order?

  I turned on my mini 3 times with the USB key in one of the 3 locations every time... it s do not know a good idea, but it's just doesn´t give me the option of Start Menu...?

  Now with everything enabled in the boot order... doesn´t still come as an option.

  Start by using the option for "floppy USB disk hard key/Usb. This should return you to the same place as before. If it is not, disable booting to USB floppy option and try again. Since you did not receive an "additional disk" with your USB recovery media (and even if you did, you could not use it unless you have a USB CD/DVD drive), you'll want to press 'SKIP' when prompted. Then, just follow the prompts as required and eventualy Windows will be installed.

  I have: HP Mini 200-4200, pr nr B3R47EA #ABU, System Board ID 338D, Win 7 (installed at the factory)... .this who else.

  I m not very in computer science, first. And on the other hand, I m to Nicaragua on a gap year - around resources.

  The Mini is under warranty, I bought it in October 2012, London, it s been gradually slow down, which I have contributed to have perhaps too many things about...   Then I press Esc to exit and then rises:

  "Disk hard Test" failed.

  Then I did the tapping F10 at the beginning (read in one post Board) to get to the Bios:

  I went to Diagnostics and support on the main hard drive Self Test.  It doesn´t seem to do the test because in the same second I press Enter, box comes with 'Quick (303) of hard disk 1', 'ok',... .in the background I can see the short test run 0% complete, duration (estimated) unknown... but I think that it doesn´t do anything. When I press ok, nothing happens.

  I m don't know what to do. Or where is my nearest representative of HP. Is there on to Managua? (or Esteli would be closer).

  AND - is it possible to recover all the files?

  Not sure if this is of any importance, when I go in the diagnostic log, the numbers contained therein are 0303, 0305, 03F1. To repeat.

  Please help save my little Mini, it's been a good companion.

  The ID of the failure will be either a Smart failure or disk Self Test - the two would indicate that your hard drive is defective and must be replaced.

  If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.

  I ve had 200-4200 Mini. A few months back I had a hard drive crash and another was sent by the warranty. I m abroad, so he was sent to my friend, who sent me to the Nicaragua. The drive arrived, BUT pick it up USB does not stick. (they came separately on the post, so he posted them me separately also)... 7 weeks waiting for the post... I think that it will not happen before leaving the country in 6 days and continue the journey.

  When you request support, please provide the number of name and/or product of comprehensive model of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models which are all different. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

  I can assume that you are referring to the computer Netbook HP Mini 200-4200ea-p/n B8H26EA , but this is only a guess, that there are about 73 models Mini 200-4200 available.

  It may be possible to download a Windows 7 ISO from Digital River, a Microsoft hosting partner and put a boot image on a USB key. Please see this HP forum thread titled "How to install Windows 7 without the disc" for instructions on the download and create a bootable Windows 7 support. The only problem I see is there doesn't seem to be a 'Windows Starter' image available. A side note... you can install any version you want, on a trial basis... you would have a full 30 days to use Windows until you enter a valid key. This will put you on for the moment.

  I have problems with my HP Mini 200-4200, in another post very nicely, they told me that the hard drive needs to be replaced. I got the warranty, so I understand that.

  But I also want MY DATA RECOVERY.  I was told I can do, I have to do before they take the Mini but it is not one of the things they do under warranty.

  However, I will lose my warranty if someone touches the computer?

  It could very well be too late for photos and videos.  When a hard drive crashes, it is hard to say whether something can be salvaged or not.  The best bet is also replace the failed hard drive and on a work computer connect the player down with an adapter LIKE THIS.  Then boot from a Linux Live CD to examine the failed drive and move all the data to the CD/DVD drive Flash
