R.620 iDRAC

I have a r.620. Anyone know the keys that must be pressed on startup to enter the config of the iDRAC? I do not see it come on reboot.

Hello

When the system boots, press F2 and type the parameters of the system. When inside the Control Panel, access the iDRAC parameters. Here, you can configure your iDRAC.

Kind regards

I find it quite difficult to understand how I would achieve the same results using WinRM, but using the new v3 PowerShell cmdlets (get-CimInstance, New-CimInstance, Set-CimIntance, Invoke-CimMethod, etc.)

I'm ok, get the basic information from the DRAC using these commands, but I must admit that I am a little lost in how to manage things from the endpoint reference (EPR). Each example of WinRM speak back EPR, then using those of the WinRM method call, but I just can't see how to do this with the new PowerShell commands

  • PowerEdge r.620 - grateful to network interface "default" (iDRAC vs NIC)

    Hi all

I'm a tech network new-to-the-industry assigned to a r.620 server in a test environment. I'm working on a project for PlanetLab , and I'm trying to figure out how to put this server online. I understand that it sounds like a question for the Support of PL, but we were confused and at this time, I try to get help or ideas, I can try, in addition to working with the support of PL.

As part of the installation, I have a bootable CD with a custom Linux kernel. When it is started from the CD, the server must initialize the network connections and then contact the central servers of PL and install things. However, I never managed to cross the network initialization.

The server has a license of the company. I assigned a public IP address to the iDRAC port, and nothing is connected to one of the ethernet port. This is the dedicated mode. IDRAC is accessed remotely, and a test OS shows that I am able to make connections from the server - that is to say nothing of all the material is defective or incorrectly configured.

The error I got was "there is no device eth0, most likely this CD does not support your hardware."

    What I've tried so far:

    • Adding a tag to say the CD get em1 instead of eth0. I get the same message, "em1 device does not exist...". »
    • Adding a tag to say the CD to get the MAC address of iDRAC.
    • Changing from dedicated to Shared mode and selecting LOM1 as the interface active (with a cable connected to work).
    • Adding a tag to say the CD to get the MAC address of LOM1 port.

The error message remains the same. A test, I tried to use the CD to start on some other Dell desktop computers (I don't note the model numbers), and this time the CD recognizes eth0 on these machines (running Windows 7 Enterprise, although it shouldn't matter because the OS was not yet started again).

So there's something about how iDRAC vs NICs works. Beyond understanding fundamental iDRAC is a controller separated with its own processor to network card, etc, I'm new on the DRAC technology.

Unfortunately, I cannot understand what it and am running out of ideas. At this point, I would appreciate greatly any ideas I can try to get the CD to recognize the DRAC NIC. Or even one of the 4 ports.

    Thanks a lot for reading.

If I add another ordinary of the compatible server (not a NDC) NIC card, the lifecycle controller will be able to detect the new card?

I don't understand why you care about the iDRAC and LCC with your custom installation of the operating system. You can use the iDRAC to mount your image of the operating system, but all this should have nothing to do with iDRAC or LCC.

Mount your ISO using the iDRAC and boot from it. Once it is initialized from your ISO, it's no different than booting from a DVD/CD. If it does not detect the network card, then the question is probably a driver problem with your OS support.

I don't think that this issue has nothing to do with the material. It's probably a problem with the driver on your support of OS or the installation script. I suggest you to start from your installation media to see if it detects the NIC correctly. This should be a good starting point to determine if you need to add additional drivers to the media or make changes to your script to make the installation work.

    Thank you

  • Operating system for r.620 and iDRAC Express installation path

I have a new PowerEdge r.620, 8 chassis Bay, no optical drive, with iDRAC7 Express edition.

I've got the interfaced web DRAC configured and I can access it fine. I have a Ubuntu sitting on another server accessible through HTTP I want to get and install from an .iso image. What is the method to do this, use DRAC7 Express? Isn't this possible?

I see the 'Remote file sharing' configuration settings, but they are not available in the Express edition. The docs for help I need a business license in order to use it. I guess it's the only way to mount an ISO on the network, which is unfortunate, because our old R610 does not require an additional license just to mount the ISO network files.

Suppose I can't mount an ISO as a virtual media image. What is the method recommended by Dell to perform an installation of the OS with just DRAC Express and no internal optical drive?

    Hi rwhaley,

You can have a business card in the R610 who are not licensed as the new r.620 12 G.

The only way you can do this through connection to the DRAC is to upgrade the express to the company.

You can refer to your service representative sales Dell and ask for a 30 day trial license, which could help you to install your operating system.

  • 12G (r.620, R720) - how to clear logs?

    Hi all

As part of r.620 and R720 server sizing, I try to erase the various system logs, so that the provisioned client will get a clear slate. I'm trying to do that programmaticaly (via racadm).

    So:

    racadm clrsel - works fine.

racadm clrraclog - complains that this command is deprecated with 12G. That's fair enough, but I can't for the life of me find the replacement, the method sanctioned to clear log CARS. How do I do that?

racadm lclog - none AUTOMAGIC to clear. Now I understand that life cycle is intended to be for life, but here I am creating a new life cycle - there must be a way to clear the log of CA when I reactivate an old box?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hey Doron,

The option SystemErase is not supported on systems of 12G.

There is no option to remove the LC logs unless you run the LCWipe method on the iDRAC.

This resets the iDRAC to the factory settings and delete all settings iDRAC, including network settings and you need to reconfigure the iDRAC locally. This can be done in F2 > iDRAC parameters.

There are two ways to perform some LCwipe:

    (a) execute the LCWipe method using the winrm provided more earlier of windows OS.

OR run the command wsmancli of linux OS below.

    wsman invoke - a 'LCWipe' http://schemas.dmtf.org/wbem/wscim/1/cim-schema/2/root/dcim/DCIM_LCService?SystemCreationClassName= 'DCIM_ComputerSystem', CreationClassName = "DCIM_LCService", "DCIM:ComputerSystem", Name = SystemName = "DCIM:LCService' h [iDRAC ip] 443 u [username] [password] Pei Pei - ch y basic v - v model

    (b) you can also do this in the life cycle of the controller by pressing F10 POST. You'll find a default Config clear and reset option under hardware Config. Then the controller across the life cycle. The system turn off to do this and you have to manually turn it on again.

    Hello Marcel

I don't think that we create updates designed to work under Ubuntu. The easiest way for you to make the updates would be through the iDRAC. Connect to the web interface via the IP address of the iDRAC and choose the option to update and restore in the left column.

You can run windows 32 bit Dell Update Packages (DUP) from there. You can update THE system BIOS, firmware, PERC, iDRAC firmware and most other firmware the iDRAC using this method. Is the independent operating system, is a great way to make updates when you run Ubuntu, ESXi or other OS generally don't write us updates for.

  • iDRAC v 1.56.55 and LC v 1.4.0.128 WSMAN connection issues

    Hello

I'm using WSMAN to configure remote iDRAC on some r.620 servers and servers more recent which came with new firmwares iDRAC/LC as well as those that I have upgraded to the latest firmwares behave oddly w / orders WSMAN - so that every now and then the command WSMAN comes in saying that name username/password combination is incorrect , but they are not and sometimes it works, other times it is not which means you should I ignore exceptions and retry the same command multiple times in the script...

I also see a slew of the following logs in the LC log store:

USR0031 cannot open a NULL of NULL session using the NULL value.<>
USR0030 successfully connected using roots, 192.168.100.10 and WS - Man.
USR0031 cannot open a NULL of NULL session using the NULL value.<>

Anyone know what exactly the "using null null null" is supposed to mean?

    Thank you

    Ovidiu - K.

    Daniel,

I tried the latest firmware as well (iDRAC v 1.57.57 LC2 v 1.4.2) and the same Lifecycle Controller log entries are collected for each order WSMAN (USR0031 cannot open a NULL to NULL using NULL session). However, at this point because everything else seems to work - have not had authentication errors more - these journal entries are without consequences (okay maybe a little boring to the eye but nothing I can't live with). However maybe someone of the iDRAC/LC development team wants to take a look to see why these entries are saved with each order WSMAN...

    Thanks and regards,

  • iDrac 7 issue

    Hello

I have a lot of Dell 610 and 510 servers all runing iDRAC Enterrise 6. All this work a treat.

We recently received a new server Dell 620, with iDRAC Enterprise 7.

I have it set up, can ping it but unable to connect remotely. I read that all the other messages but stll havng trouble forum.

    I tried IE8, Chrome, Firefox.

I added the URL of my trusted sites, deleted all the data navigation, removed the last Java on my computer, installed the certificate but still no joy. I can still connect to all my other servers runing iDRAC 6, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas?

    Thank you very much

    Kevin

Kevin, if you still see this problem, the login screen reloads after you enter the credentials, try using the IP address in the browser's address bar and not the DNS name.

This same problem appeared on my iDRAC7s after updating the firmware to v1.50.50.  I have updated to v1.51.51 and still have the same question.  The address using IP is a workaround, however.

  • Problems with Dell r.620 updated

Today, I tried to make 3 x updates 3 Dell r.620 as follows:

    • BIOS 2.4.3 to 2.5.2
    • 16.0.24 to 16.5.20 Intel NETWORK card firmware
    • iDRAC Firmware Version to 2.10.10 (iDRAC settings rest 1.65.65.04 Version)

All 3 of r.620 had identical firmware for starters.

I applied updates for 3 r.620 systems at the same time through iDRAC Express Web GUI update mechanism.

On the first 2 systems, the updates worked fine.

On the last system, I'm in trouble.  When I came back to this system, he has been "priming" and say "entering the lifecycle controller...". "but after half an hour, it does not!  I noticed that whenever I would it boot, he'd do the same thing... "Entering Lifecycle Controller"... then when it is arrived until the moment where Intel Boot Agent initialize, there are two points, then a blank line... then the machine would just stand there.

Through racadm, I managed to reset the State of the life cycle of the inverter and remove the queue of work hoping I could reflash just updates and everything would be fine.  Now, the system does exactly the same thing, except that it does not seek to enter the controller of life cycle more.  Now, when he's sitting there, he is not "completely" hooked - in other words, if I hit F2 it will say that it is entering the system setup, press F10 he'll say he'll perform a PXE boot... etc... in fact, you can hit all the F keys and he'll say he'll enter system configuration , PXE boot, enter BIOS Boot Menu, etc...

I am suspicious it is necessary with a failed NETWORK upgrade card... Here's what I see in the racadm for BIOS swinventory:

If the versions downloaded, but the current version is not the new version.

I checked in other systems, and it is.

Now, I tried to go back in idrac7 web GUI and rollback, but it says that it cannot do.
At the same time, the BIOS boot screen shows the BIOS as being 2.5.2!

I had a conversation with Dell.  The conclusion was that the motherboard and possibly the network card girl needs to be replaced... somebody's going to come out on Friday to do...  That being said, I'm 99% sure that there is a way to solve this problem by replacing the entire Board.  I 99% sure because I think to solve the problem requires the system to enter the lifecycle controller, which does not now... and no matter what job I can queue through the UI web or racadm won't do much if it cannot access the lifecycle controller.

I can still access the idrac via web and ssh.  I tried to work on the jobqueue change LegacyBootProto None of PXE, thinking that this MIGHT get rid of the "Intel Boot Manager" prompt, but when the system boots, it does not it:

    racadm view jobqueue
    -------------------------JOB QUEUE------------------------
    [Job ID = JID_285566585779]
    Job Name = configure: NIC. Integrated.1 - 1-1
    Status = on demand
    Start time = [now]
    Timeout = [not Applicable]
Message = [JCP001: task successfully on demand.]
    ----------------------------------------------------------

I don't even know whether or not the problem is, really, the Boot Manager.

I thought about another possibility... If it's Boot Manager... If I disable the NIC daughter through racadm card, then I would immediately lose access to idrac and not be able to return to the previous state, but if the deactivation of the card would let me go further so that I could get back in the lifecycle controller and fix things then maybe it's worth? Don't know.

    Any thoughts?

    Jason.

Yes. I tried this option.  It's the same thing.  (hang after Intel Boot Agent).

The motherboard of the server has been replaced, and I am currently re - install the updates... Already updated the BIOS which is come with this (2.2.2) server could not update 2.5.2.  I'm now trying an update of the idrac.  All these problems with the updates are frustrated to no end.

    Jason.
