  The printer status report has 47 online date (rounded to the week) the print head has been installed.  Except in rare cases where that the printhead has been replaced, this would be the date of the printer has been installed.

  A preset is an option provided by the OS X print dialog allowing you thus save print settings used.

  1. Open the file that you want to print.
  2. In the menu file , cclick Print. The print dialog box appears.
  3. Change the print settings to perform a duplex print job.
  4. On top of the print just after the name of the printer dialogue box, you will find the menu presets.
  5. Open the presets menu, and then select Save settings as a preset.
  6. Assign any name to save the preset, and then click OK.

  Now the saved preset settings will by default be used until any other preset is selected.

  While using the Auto print module duplex printing on both sides of the product page must let the ink dry before printing on the other side.

  You can turn it off by going to the screen printing and setting preferences in print on both sides as zero, which should prevent this behavior of duplex printing.

  It has no function of machine harvest in the 8600 software. To get the exact size, you will need to manually set the size for the scans that you do. You can find the setting by clicking on the blue link to advanced settings in the first scan window. Will take you to a place that will allow you to change the size of the scanning area.   A storm on the last week my OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus feeding dish. The printer is irretrievably economic so I ordered a new printer.

  Without power, the transport of ink cartridge is stuck in extreme right position where it is impossible to remove the four ink cartridges relatively new. Ink is not cheap... would like to be able to recover the disabled printer ink cartridges but cannot understand how the cart release.

  In the end from the deceased by removving Assembly ADF/scanner printer ink cartridges. This provided access from the top to the distribution of ink stuck.  T10 Torx driver required to remove all.

  The new printer will not accept the cartridges retrieved when installing printer... had to use the "setup" cartridges in the box with the new printer.

  After you configure the new printer, however, I've been able to 'Set up' cartridges for almost new XL cartridges that I had recovered from my old printer.

  I have an Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and an Apple OSX Yosemite iMac running. I installed the full software from the HP support site, and in particular the analysis of the HP is version 4.4.1 (21).

  I want to create a color PDF directly in a file on my computer to the scanner.

  If I select Save as PDF, I get a b & w image in a file that is automatically created.

  If I select print daily scan opens in HP Scan and I am able to create an image in color, but with additional steps.

  I looked at other similar topics in 2012 and 2013 and saw advice to change the mode in HP utility/Scan to computer/change Scan tasks/editing, but there is no option of color Mode.

  Finally, I figured this out. It CAN be done.

  Go to HP utility/Scan of the computer.

  Make sure that enable Scan to computer is checked.

  Select Edit analysis jobs

  Select Save as PDF/change

  In the presets drop-down, select generalist

  In the section move the items from the Finder, you can also specify the folder where the scans will be saved.

  Saved color, managed directly from the printer scans on my iMac. Sweet!

  I have been using a printer HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus via my MacBook Pro (OS X Yosemite version 10.10.4) for about two years with no problems until recently.  Since a few days ago, I'm more able to print wireless, despite the fact that the printer is connected to the network.  Interestingly, the print queue reflects the print job completed, but pages do not print.  In my attempts to solve the problem, I have (i) restore factory settings and re-written information of network required on the printer; (ii) disconnected the printer and waited five minutes;  (iii) unplugged and reset the router. (iv) deleted and reinstalled the software and drivers printer on my laptop.  My laptop is in communication with the printer as evidenced by my ability to scan using HP Scan wireless, but I'm unable to print the document once it is scanned.  Finally, I am able to print the network settings Page in the menu of the printer, but not the printer web page... I get an error message saying 'the printer is busy. Try again later.  Any ideas to fix this frustrating problem would be greatly appreciated.  I apologize if my descriptions are not technically accurate because I am a novice when it comes to computers and networks.  Thanks a lot for your help.

I really appreciate it.  You beat me to the punch... only a few hours ago, I was able to get the printer working again... but I forgot to update my post.  As you recommended, I have reset the printing system, downloaded a new driver... hpprinterdriver3.1.dmg... added a new printer... restart the printer, my router and my laptop... and the printer from work once again from my Mac.  Yet once again, I appreciate your efforts... Bravo.

  Hi mjdiebel,

  I'm sorry that your printer is not turning off any magenta ink.  You have already replaced the cartridge and clean the print head.  You may be able to recover the ink by making another cleaning; but at this point the print head may need to be replaced.

  I know that you have not received the error messages in the document, but the behavior you describe leads me to believe that the software did not completely uninstall or install completely with the driver for the Mavericks.

  There are a growing number of messages in this forum and elsewhere in the internet with the steps to do a reset on different printers.  Reset to will sometimes fix problems, so resetting is not the issue.

  A few resets require you to enter key combinations to open special menus on your printer that you were supposed to never access.  These special menus are used by developers and staff support for debugging of problems, but they are not intended for inexperienced users and can have unexpected results.  A wrong button push and you might no longer have a printer, but rather an expensive paper weight.  On top of that, if you happen to the 'brick' the printer in this way, it is considered as customer induced damage and voids the warranty automatically. These resets are only intended to be distributed and used as a last resort and under the direct instruction of a representative of the HP technical support.
