HP Pavilion a6010n: Question

I have a HP Pavilion a6010n PC. Now, my computer has Windows Vista Home Premium. Now my problem is sometimes it will load windows and sometimes it wont. It will start up to a blank black screen. And does nothing after that. But when I installed Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca. It will do a full load on the desktop. But my question is why wont he do the same thing for windows vista? My graphics card and motherboard works very well with problems Linux. No it. IM at a loss about why windows not to load not completely on the desktop. Now, I can't afford to take it to a computer repair shop. Also, cannot afford to buy another. I hope someone here can help me.

I think there may have been a little problem with Vista.  If you did a system recovery, he was able to boot Vista.  That's what you were doing with Linux.  A new installation can solve many problems.

  • Pavilion a6010n frozen BIOS update

    I was updating a Pavilion a6010n computer.

I ran the update of the BIOS (v.5.13 to v.5.23) file. Open attention box does not turn off the computer, etc..

    The update froze.

After an hour, I left pending. I shut down the computer manually. Removed the battery of the BIOS for half a minute.

I reinstalled the battery and plugged to the computer. Of course it won't start. Does not start even to start.

Is there a recovery process, that we can use to get back on this computer? Perhaps a BIOS file, we can put it on a drive Flash or something?

HP says they no longer support this machine.

    Help!

    JakeKay, welcome to the forum.

Because your computer is more than 8 years old, it was built before that some of the new BIOS recovery methods have been developed.  Therefore, I don't think there is anything you can do.

  • HP Pavilion p6710f: Question of compatibility before panel connectors

Hi, I decided to build a new office and reuse my old HP pavilion case. So, my question is whether the connector on the front panel of the case is compatibile with the Panel on my new motherboard header. My motherboard is ASRock B150M Pro4s. Thank you very much for the help.

There is no list of the pins of the connectors at the level of the consumer.

I highly recommend that you buy a case of a provider of component PC online or physical store. The case will be delivered with a manual which has a pinout of the connector.

Once you remove the motherboard from the case of office of HP, you have is no longer a HP PC product.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 - question on keyboard

    HP Pavilion dv6 6148ca

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit OS

My question is about the F1 through F12 keys. This is the first time owning a laptop computer in a long time (I'm more than an enthusiast desktop computers), so you'll have to excuse me. I tried to fill a mission for the school in Excel and I wanted to use the F4 key to a function related to Excel. With the help of F4 in Excel creates an absolute cell reference. Instead, I opened up a menu to change the screen resolution! The only way around the problem was to plug in an external keyboard via USB.

Someone would be kind enough to tell me how to turn off the features associated with the F1 through F12 keys?

    Thank you

    Hello

The keyboard should have a blue "Fn" key, we have to press and hold too. You can always remap the keyboard, please try this:

  • Pavilion fan questions after replacing fans.

I have a 4 years, HP Pavilion Elite m9500y equipped of Windows Vista. I had received messages from 'system fan failure' on startup from time to time and had heard loud grinding noises still occasionally. I changed the power supply and a video card, and none has solved the problem. Lately, computer work really slowly and the CPU temperature was more than 100 degrees Celsius only at startup.

I replaced the cpu fan and case fan today and have encountered a new problem - when I hit the power button, the computer starts up, I see both fans run for about 10 seconds, and then they stop. The CPU fan first, then the case fan. Then, I get an error message saying the CPU fan has failed and the computer turns off. It is possible that I installed the fans back. Does anyone know the correct orientation or have pictures? Anything else may have caused the problems?

    skidlz,

54sec at 01:17 minutes this video shows the CPU fan and the orientation of the blade. In regards to the rear case fan, fan shroud has an arrow showing the flow. The fan is a fan, so he blows on the back.

  • Pavilion dv8120ca questions

I have a Pavilion dv8120ca laptop PC that I've upgraded to Windows 7 (32 bit).  It all went pretty well, except to install a webcam logitech 200.  Once the webcam is installed, it will go through the 3-4 and then sleep/wake cycle later, it will crash to enter the mode 'sleep'.  If I remove the webcam sw and drivers, I don't have a problem with this crash when you enter "standby".

I use latest drivers Logitech on their web site for the web cam.  I have also told me that there is a driver video usb generic Windows 7, but I was not able to locate one, on my laptop after installing windows, or on the Microsoft web site.

Any help appreciated to determine why the laptop crashes when you enter the mode "sleep" or in the search for a Windows 7 driver that will work with the web cam.

    Thank you.

    Doug

    Hi Doug,.

Revo does a more thorough uninstall the Windows option.  I would like to try the following steps to see if that solves the problems you are having with the Webcam.

It may be a good idea first, visit the Web from Logitech and first download the installer for your webcam.  Save the installer to your desktop.

Then use Revo Uninstaller as I described earlier:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    http://www.revouninstaller.com/start_freeware_download.html

Download and install this freeware version of Revo Uninstaller.

Run revo and use it to uninstall your Logitech Web camera software.  Make a right click on the program icon you want to remove and select uninstall.  During the process, that you may be asked to remove the registry entries, simply select all and then click on remove.  Do the same for any left over files and folders.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, download and install ccleaner on the link below.

    http://www.Piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard

First, run the cleaning utility file and then use the registry cleaner by selecting in the icon on the left.  Click scan for issues and when the analysis is complete, click on fix selected issues, save when you are prompted, and then delete them.  Repeat this process until no problems are.

Now, right-click on the setup of the Logitech software on your desktop and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.

    Best wishes

  • The upgrade of Pavilion 751n Questions

I try to keep an old Pavilion 751n functional for some years more.  I can't find documentation on memory or updates.

    Does anyone know the following:

Memory: Ddr pc2700 memory may be used instead of pc2100?

CPU: CPU, can be upgraded to a Pentium 4 (socket 478) 2.4 GHz?  What happened to 2.6 Ghz or 2.8 Ghz processor?  (I guess that each of them would be 400 mhz fsb)

Any help or documentation would be greatly appreciated.

Message edited by ArnoldT on 20/09/2009 21:55

    Hello

Here is a link to your product and specifications of the motherboard. Whatever this is socket µPGA478 Pentium 4 Willamett and Northwood line is supported according to the specifications published HP. Processor FSB should be 400 Mhz.

Memory: you are actually better to stay within the PC2100/1600 range for compatibility reasons. I know these old sticks of memory are more difficult to find PC2700 sticks are.

  • HP-pavilion upgrade question

I have a pavilion p6110t PC x64based (CTO) which was purchased in June 2009. It came with Vista and I upgraded to Windows 7 Home premium as soon as it was released in October 2009. I also added a 4 GB of RAM for a total of 7 GB. and I have svc. Pack1

I always wonder why it takes more than 2 minutes of win7 welcome screen to get to the screen. The screen goes black and after 2 minutes, it displays the desktop. I went and disabled some things to start - maximum but I'm not sure that some things are so I leave them alone.

I noticed that as soon as I installed the two sticks of memory 2 GB the machine stops faster - but the start is always the same.

Is this normal after an upgrade from Vista to windows7?

Experience: that most brutal of teachers. But you learn, my God make you learn.

    Hi Chukka,

Over the years, I've seen version of the operating system upgrade works not as well as facilities in own, simply because the upgrade can keep old unnecessary files that make the system need to "think more difficult" who actually run more slowly.

Now on your startup items, it is difficult for me to see all the items in your image, but I can see some as the 'Corel Photo', which would be perfect remove the check mark from. When I go through MSCONFIG, my rule of thumb is to remove the controls from any ordinary software (itunes, Real, Corel, etc.). I tend to just let things like an Antivirus software and key services such as Sound Devices or things like that. Also, feel free to experiment. If you doubt the item, uncheck the box and then reboot to see if that makes a difference. You can always add the control to the rear.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 questions intermittent of wireless connectivity.

For the last 6 months I had serious problems with my laptop. It uses the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 wireless card.

The problem is that every 30-45 seconds it will drop my connection. It happens so often that it is impossible to fill a simple speedtest, and even less sign up for classes or watch a video.

Then to find my internet connection I have go troubleshoot, resolve some random error, it appears, wait two minutes, sacrificing an animal and then try to use everything I was doing. As a student who doesn't have access to a wired connection on a regular basis, it is a major PITA. I wish I could just get a new computer, but it is currently not in the budget.

I thought that the drivers were updated so I found on the HP website and downloaded but they were 2012. I hit the update (while in the Device Manager) and it updated to a new two months (as expected by Intel) but the problem persists.

I started my computer in safe mode and the wireless worked without any problems. That would point to what is a compatibility problem with other programs rather than a hardware or driver problem?

Any advice would be greatly welcomed, because I literally lose. I very desperately need this computer for school and can afford a new at the present time (and frankly, I'm rather fond of this computer).

Edit: The driver concerned from the Intel Web site: 15.13.0.2 published on 22-07-14. As far as I know, this is the most recent.

    Hi there @KAHarvey

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have difficulties with your internet, but which is working fine in safe mode. This would indicate that something which is loaded in normal mode is the source of the problem and will require a bit of the investigation. If the hardware does not work safe mode, the hardware is fine, the problem is elsewhere.

You can have a go at this page and see if something helps you:

Troubleshooting your wireless network and Internet access (Windows 7)

One other thing to try, as an experience is to temporarily disable the firewall. I do not recommend doing this for a while, just as a check to see if it is part of the problem. If you notice he's working, then I would look at either uninstall the firewall then put it back in place, or restore it to its default settings. It really depends on the firewall you are using.

  • Windows question

OK, I have a HP Pavilion a6010n PC. Now I have Windows Vista Home Premium. Now can I remove vista and put it back in Ubunu operating system? I bought the recovery for the computer disk. Or do I just run it Ubuntu along side windows? I have Ubuntu here. Works much faster then windows.

Ubuntu should be fully compatible with your HP Pavilion Media Center a6010n desktop. The choice is really yours... If you feel you need Windows, dual boot Windows and Ubuntu on the computer... If you can do everything you need in Ubuntu, just run Ubuntu. If you need Windows, you can abandon the HP OEM Vista came with the computer and run vanilla Windows 7 instead. You will notice a good bit of difference just by doing this.

    Please send Bravo
