  Since you already have a 2 GHz processor, it does not seem you have viable options to upgrade. A Turion MK-38 has the same voltage, speed decision-making and bus so it should work, but using any processor HP did not offer is a bit of a risk since the BIOS can not recognize it. In addition, a bump de.2 ghz is not worth the hassle of replacing a processor in a laptop. I would say that the minimum increase, you should look for est.4 ou.6 and I do not think there is anything that you could put that would give you that. The laptop is obsolete and frankly wasn't the finest products from HP. They are prone to failure and put it in a faster processor would probably kill. If yours does not it is one of the last survivors among this series of models.

  My hardly used HP Pavilion Touchsmart is extremely slow and even a simple operation like 'save' used to take hours. I did a check of HDD on login and this resulted in the following result:

  Each time the short hard drive DST test fails with 24 alphanumeric characters "PQDVW2-6PL7RA-MFPWXG-6OU603" which indicates that the hard drive has failed and which needs to be replaced to solve the problem

  This problem could be due to an Application or a driver conflict, virus issues, corruptions of files due to incompatible applications, incorrect judgments, update failures due to conflicts, mounted sudden power so portable, sudden falls etc...

  HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store

  Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive

  Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:

  Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.

  Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds

  Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)

  Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally

  If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop

  If the problem persists again please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

  Note: Back up all personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files.   I've updated the bios with an update from the center of toshiba, but the process is unresponsive and I had to restart the computer. The result is the laptop does not start because I think I lost the bios of programming. The CD-ROM unit tries to start but that's all.

  I'm afraid you have no other alternative besides contacting an ASP using m.

  It seems that the ROM module is not flashed on the correct order and the technician could try to relash Rom module with a BIOS version of crisis

  I would recommend contacting the local ASP in order to solve this problem

  Before send back you, open the case and check if the cable is correctly connected to the motherboard. The cable may have jumped out of the motherboard.

  Just unplug it and plug it back to the motherboard. If it's totally off the Board, you can go to the Support page for this exact model and look for the link at the top of this page for the manual. Most service manuals show a diagram of components/connectors on motherboard and CPU fan connector must be checked.

  If everything's fine, which solves the problem, so you won't have to send again.

  The classic DPS plugins are not supported in CC2015. You go back to CC2014 for that. Only the new digital publishing Solution will be supported in CC2015.

  I am looking at upgrading the processor in an i3 i5 or i7 laptop, I was wondering if someone had done before, if it's the same penalty, and if no problem of massive heating were casued by intorducing a more power hungry CPU. common sense tells me that an i5 would be nice, but if I can go out with an i7 I wouldn't complain. Although I'm not sure that the rest of the system would really have this treatment a lot more capabiltiy so an i5 would be probably more cost-effective. any help would be appreciated

You would go to 2.26 ghz with a cache of meg 3 to 2.66 ghz with a cache of meg 4; probably a 40% increase or more in processing power. The i7 is going to be about $40 on eBay and an i5 only a little less, so if you do the upgrade I go for excitement and get the i7. However, the first generation Intel Core is getting a little long in the tooth. No usb 3.0, no SATA-III, bad heat/power management, etc. If you can make the update yourself and the manual shows how, then for $40 it might allow you to use the laptop for a little longer. Do not underestimate the difficulty of the upgrade, however. If you need assistance after return.
