HP Pavilion dv6-1354us: HP dv6-1354us, hard disk Max

Hi, I need to replace the hard drive on my dv6-1354us. Does anyone know the side max from the hard drive, it can accept? Thank you.

The manual only tells you different sizes, HP offered from the factory. HP does not document a maximum size of hard disk for each system. SATA has no inherent limit of size as old IDE drives. Some desktop computers have trouble with 3 TB and more large drives ultra high density, but it's not a problem in laptops, where most current HARD drive size is 2 TB. 1 TB is the sweet spot right now in terms of price/capacity.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 new HARD drive

Hi guys... the hard drive of my HP Pavilion dv6 was broken and its not detectable more... my question is... can I replace the hard drive of my HP Dv6 with any brand? I still have my recovery upwards... Please answer asap thnx

    Hello

Your not limited to any manufacturer of player, so you are free to choose the HARD drive you want.  The only point to keep in mind is to buy a replacement of equal capacity drive (or slightly larger) to the original - installing a lower capacity drive may cause problems when using recovery discs to reinstall the operating system.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6c47cl: hard drive errors

I just got the factory reset disks, my pc is out of warranty... Will be factory reset discs allow me to install the new hard drive into the computer and then it will be as if it was directly from the factory?

I did the resets to factory using partition on computers, but never a reset using the discs... so I hesitate just install HDD without knowing if the reset disks will be re-hard drive partition and install the factory installed software.

    Need help...

    HP Pavilion dv6-6c47cl notebook PC

    Hello

Big question. Factory reset disks will allow you to bring the laptop to original settings.

If the hard drive is bad or you replace it for a reason any (like changing for one SSD), you can use the same media to reinstall the OS.

    I hope this helps!

  • HP Pavilion dv6 - 6119tx HARD drive upgrade question

    Hi all

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 - 6119 notebook tx. I am facing a SMART hard disk error and I need to replace it with a new hard drive. It currently has a capacity of 640 GB 5400 RPM HDD Toshiba. All I want to know is can I replace it with a 1 TB hard drive, 7200 RPM (with SATA 6.0 GB/s)? May be I have to 5400 RPM (with SATA 3.0 Gbit/s)?

    Hi kiranmanju

After some reading on this subject, I think I'll go with MistaB.

SSDS and hard drives are treated in the same way by the operating system, and they are easily interchangeable. So no, you shouldn't have any problems during the installation of a faster 7200 RPM drive to replace your current drive to 5400 RPM.

There are only a few things you need to know when buying a compatible disc:
    (A) interface: the vast majority of readers is SATA, and it is what you need
    (B) 2.5 "or 3.5": the first is for laptops, the latter is for desktop computers
    (C) drive height: most of the hard drives 2.5 "are 9.5 mm, and it's what fits most laptops. Some high-capacity drives are 12.5 mm

Other than that, the rest of the variables are related to performance.

but I can't guarantee anything of it now. I don't really know why then the user's Guide for your product just omitted part of 7200 RPM if they do not harm anyway. I recommend that contact HP technical support for more details.

    Thank you

  • HP Pavilion DV6-6c35dx: HP Pavilion DV6 secondary hard drive?

The HP Pavilion DV6-6c35dx is able to accommodate two independent hard drives? I want to use an SSD as my main drive for the OS and most of the programs and the current drive as files storage. Is this possible?

    Hello

It doe doesn't have a lot of space (physically) to a second HDD. If you wish, you can: remove the ODD (CD/DVD drive) and use this slot for a HARD drive. Please watch the following video:

  • Pavilion DV6-1333sa hard drive upgrade.

I want to spend 320 GB sata hard drive 7200 rpm on my pavillion DV6-1333sa.

I would like to replace it with a hard disk of 1 TB sata 7200 RPM.

I was looking around and I was wondering what drives would be compatible.

I noticed that there are versions of 2.5 and 3.5 inches and there are also SATA II and SATA III.

This Seagate hard drive is the one I was considering. (google for more information)

Seagate 1 TB 3.5 inch 7200 RPM 64 MB Cache hard drive SATA3

I found it at a very reasonable price, but I was wondering if it would be compatible and how it would be to transfer my entire system on it and install it.

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

You must use the computer portable HARD drive which is 2.5 ". The 3.5 "HARD drive you mentioned above does not physically. HARD drives for laptops are more expensive than HARD drives for desktop computers. You can use something like one of the following:

They are SATA III but will be compatible with SATA II.

    Hello:

    Yes you can.

Here are the instructions and you should be all set.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

    @SorryHPbuyer

I don't know what model said you it not available for, but HP still stocks recovery disc for many machines to Vista (not all), most Windows 7 and of course Windows 8 machines.

I guess you have a XP or Vista early model? In this scenario, you should be able to get here:

    THX A LOT

    Hello

Unfortunately, HP is a download option to do this, but you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - cost can vary a little where in the world you live, but they are generally inexpensive.

    Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, see if you can order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

  • HP Pavilion Dv6, missing recover disk

Yes my hard drive Samsung failed 2 weeks ago and I bought a replacement to settle. The problem is that it does not come with my Windows 7. When I bought the laptop, it has not come with a recovery disk to install from. I contacted Microsoft and gave them the product key on the back of the laptop and they told me that the key was invalid. I was always getting Windows updated 2 weeks ago, so it may be invalid. They told me I had to contact HP for the recovery disc to install it on my new hard drive. If I can't help I'm going to buy a Mac. I just hear that the problems aren't there I have with Windows.

I know that my sticker on the laptop is good. So I can't understand why the product key appears invalid Windows technical support. Help, please. If I can just recover my OS on and may try to recover lost data on my old hard drive.

Thanks for any help. I don't want to have to buy a new OS when I paid for portable software and it was preinstalled.

    You are the very welcome.

Micro$ oft is no help most of the time.

It's a shame that HP doesn't provide us customers with recovery disks.

However, they provide us with the ability to create a game by reading the info on the link below (which of course is now useless for you).

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01867124

Now as much as to try to recover data from bad hard disk...

You can invest a few dollars in a drive enclosure external hard usb for laptop, put the disc in the box and plug it into a usb port on a working PC and see if you can read the disc.

The only upgrade to the office, is that it is now running Windows 8 32-bit Pro. The second disc (E is the original disk of 320 GB.) What is the most big hard disk (in GB or TB) can I put in to replace the secondary hard drive (E?)  The BIOS is running with the delivered version.

    Hey HPbinary,

Most SATA drives should work in the system, so, basically, any capacity will be fine.
