HP Pavilion dv6-6170ee update

Can I put HP Pavilion dv6-6170ee to 16 GB of RAM?

Hello

The following link shows its specifications:

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02982007

8 GB is the maximum. BUT Crucial to a similar machine:

http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/HP-memory/Pavilion+DV6+series/Pavilion+DV6-6170us-upgrades.html

but not the following:

http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/HP-memory/Pavilion+DV6+series/Pavilion+DV6-6172nr-upgrades.html

Confusing isn't. To be on the safe side, I'd follow the specs.

Kind regards.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 3122TX: updated the BIOS F.29 don't switch HP Pavilion DV6 3122TX Ati graphics card

    Hello

I have HP Pavilion DV6 3122TX and recently I was updating my drivers and software from the HP Web site for my laptop. Everything was done smoothly. As I updated my BIOS, I noticed that I was not able to switch between ATI Radeon 5650 and Intel HD Graphics, then I was also shocked that he wasn't showing a charger plugged into icon too. Although the battery was charging but didn't show any icon for it. I am running Windows 7. After a few days, my battery was went wrong and was not in charge. I bought the new battery from HP Store for my laptop, and then after a few days now he is dying too. My computer laptop suddenly stops on about 30% of battery remaining and battery does not charge. I arranged another charger and plugged, but once more. I gave the laptop to the service center local and got NO from them as well. They couldn't find the problem. After a lot of research and reading messages HP, I finally understood that it was the problem with the BIOS Update and Windows 7. So, out of curiosity, I installed Linux RedHat 6 on windows 7 and everything was OK. But I am a graphic designer for Linux is not a good choice for me. I want to just restore my BIOS in its original version of the default BIOS. Please kindly help me to get my original BIOS. I tried everything on my hand. I also ask HP to the original versions of the drivers like BIOS on its Internet site. My laptop is dying. Please, Experts, I need your kind assisstence. Thanks in advance

Create the key USB HP Diagnostics of material 3-in-1 PC and boot to it.

If you updated the BIOS from the old version will still be in a folder of your operating system. Use the method I proposed to get it back.

If you are unable to read the instructions on the web page of Diagnostics of material for the HP PC, then I suggest that you pay someone to do it and create the flash drive for you.

No there's a white list of BIOS that will prevent the installation of any wireless card other than that provided by HP with the original from the sale of the unit. And there must be a version of HP of the card, not only the same chipset. Pages 57-58 lists the options available:

  • HP Pavilion dv6 3130sa & update driver for Ralink RT3090

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 3130sa.  I tried to update the driver for Ralink RT3090 (suggestion of automatic update of Internet HP site) but have so far been in vain.

The software has downloaded, but does not seem to install it.

I did an uninstall through the Windows Control Panel, but it would seem that this has not been a complete uninstall.  I mention this is that when I try to download the new driver (taken from the site of HP), he identified the part of the download was already on the laptop.  Once more, the installation process didn't all. (The site HP tells me always the driver update is always necessary).

I can still access internet, but I was wondering if someone could advise me as to how I could solve this problem.  If this is not the case, this particular driver update can be ignored.

    Thank you.

  • HP Pavilion DV6: Windows update search in infinite loop - works is not in Windows 7

    Hello

I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 7 Premium Edition on a HP Pavilion DV6 laptop after changing the hard drive failed. My first attempt at the time. After installing all the drivers I could find on the site of HP, I was up and running, but done Windows Update always looking. I tried all the advice, suggestions and driver downloads, I read it, but nothing works. Windows Update Standalone Installer cycles constantly as well. Almost everything I download to fix this problems requires stand-alone Windows Installer for installation. Coincidentally, Windows Defender does not update either.  Can someone help this newbie? I appreciate your help.

  • Pavilion dv6-7090el update?

    Hello
    Sorry for my bad English...
I want to upgrade my Pavilion dv6-7090el netbook.
Someone please tell me which components can be replaced?
    Hard drive? GPU? RAM?
I would like to install an SSD: do I have to choose a particular model, or are
    all compatible?
    Thank you!
    fp1959

It comes with 8 GB of RAM which is maximally. The processor is fast already, and an upgrade would not bother. The video cannot be changed. The hard drive could be replaced by a SSD, and this will be a very significant upgrade. I personally had a lot of luck with Samsung SSD of 840, either the Evo or the Pro series. The Evo is common and the Pro is a bit expensive. But there are a lot of very good SSD out there. If you need any help post more come back.

  • HP Recovery Manager for Pavilion dv6 6112 - updated to Win 8.1

    Hello

I just upgraded my operating system to win 8.1 (64-bit) and lost all my drivers.  Fortunately, I managed to get some of them through this forum.

However, I was wondering if it is not possible to retrieve the HP Recovery Manager, just in case I want to go back to my old operating system.  The recovery partition was left intact and is still there on my hard drive.

    Thank you.

    Hello

You will not be able to get the Recovery Manager, but if you had created the recovery disk before upgrading the OS. Then you might have used the same back to the OS provided with the system. So now, you may need to buy a set of recovery disc.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-1242tx: updated driver required but not available to HP support.

I noticed that my keyboard returns incorrect symbols as I type. A case occurs when I hit shift-2 poster 'symbol' instead of @. My PC has a QWERTY keyboard, and I am currently using regional (UK) English, the input parameters and the format.

Also, when I go into my control panel / devices and material, I see the error message that is associated with my PC:

    Status: Driver is not available

    Status: Driver error.

I have checked with the help of HP but have found that the driver for my model number and the operating system is not available.

Can then someone suggest a source for a driver or a workaround?

I noticed the warnings in support of HP related software vendors claiming to be affiliated with HP, so I thought I would ask this forum before you search the web.

Thank you for your consideration of my problem in advance.

    Hello

If the @ symbol is SHIFT + 2 key, then you have a style WE keyboard (the ' is on shift + 2 on a UK layout).  For this to work properly, you must select the United States keyboard layout - you can change your keyboard layout, as described at the link below.

Whenever the laptop to install the update. Then when you restart it will read the updates of configuration failure. Restoration of the changes.

This continues until 30 minutes before it finally restarts

    Hi @mayurz91 ,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I looked in your question about your problems of HP Pavilion dv6-7040tx laptop and with updates.

Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Simply download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system.

If you run an antivirus protection, this could be a problem. Disable temporarily to perform the required updates.

Note Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

Plug the power supply directly to a wall outlet works. Do not connect it a power strip, surge arrester, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Basically, you can, with a cost, and I think that this cost can be more expensive than buying a new computer because you have to take into account:

    • New price of the card, and WHERE you can buy it because the laptop cards are not the same office maps. You can't buy any normal store,
    • Need new card system (certainly),
    • Need new system of cooling because in general more powerful card pumps out more heat (you want more powerful card don't you?).
    • May need new power supply because your current diet is not suitbale for the card. (I ordered a machine with the Nvidia card and I need to order a 90W charger at the same time, not the normal charger 65W. They rejected just my order.)
    • Cost of the work.
    • Packages a lot, a lot of aspirin.

    I hope this helps.

  • Pavilion dv6: fingerprint reader not working after update to Windows 10

    Hello

Recently, after the update to Windows 10 fingerprint reader works just on my Pavilion dv6. I tried other methods I found on the forum, and I'm looking for a driver get the fingerprinter reader to work. I tried to download HP SimplePass (which has been removed from my PC by updating the operating system) in the hope he would get my fingerprint reader to work, but no luck.  I also looked in the settings (in Device Manager) for biomeric devices, and I found a driver with an exclamation point, indicating it wouldn't work. So, right now, I need a solution to get my to work on a fingerprint reader.
