Please identify your laptop with the name of the product (p/n). It should be on the sticker with a bar code at the bottom of your laptop or HP Support Assistant.

What you probably need is to install the chipset drivers. You can find them in the download section of the portal software and drivers for your laptop HP support web. Install the drivers for your operating system installed.

HP Pavilion DV6000 won't start correctly?

I have a HP Pavilion DV6000 that gets regular use. Usually I just put it in hibernation when I go to bed, and I reboot once a week or more. Toda I used my Google Chrome and I clicked on a link that a friend had posted. It was not a pirate station, it was a legitimate link. I have brought me to a Web site where I clicked on "Send feedback" in an attempt to respond to messages that my friend had posted on the Web site. I saw a few windows will happen, but they are all closed. My HP immediately frozen, thawed if necessary, froze again and etc. I used the power button to turn it off. When I tried to turn it back on, the screen froze on the Windows logo when starting the system. I turn it off, he turned back and told the system to check for errors. After wIting about ten minutes, he asked me if I wanted to do a full restore to an earlier date where the system had worked properly. After a twenty minute wait for a process that has cost take only a few minutes, I clicked on cancel, but the computer says that the process cannot be canceled. It seems that the hard drive may have failed. Enter the BIOS by typing/holding the F10 key immediately after switching on the laptop. Use Diagnostics to test your hard drive.

I have a laptop HP Pavilion DV6000 Windows Vista.  The Windows form with password starts successfully.  But I can't enter my password - or other data from the keyboard, with the exceptions below:

    1. the lock shift key works.

    2. the SPACEBAR, backspace and delete all the keys work.

I tried to do a hard reset, nothing helps.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello

    (1) once the unit is on keep tap the F8 key, select the last good known configuration & check if Unit works very well.

    (2) you can also try F10 key try to do a Bios default.

    (3) once the unit is power on keep touching the use key F8, and then select Safe mode with command prompt type keys and check if the keys does not work, you may need to replace the keyboard because it is a hardware failure.

  • Help! Wireless works but no cable Ethernet on HP Pavilion dv6000

    Hello

I run Windows Vista on my HP Pavilion dv6000.

It has been over a year now that my laptop does not detect the ethernet cable. I probably should have reported this problem to the point where it happened, but since I used only a wi - fi connection, I never saw the need of my ethernet cable. I just found out about the problem, when a wi - fi connection was turned off at our dorm and I got you connect using ethernet cable of the University. Now I'm abroad and the only way I can connect to the internet is the ethernet cable, it's why I ask your help.

Does anyone have an idea on how I could solve this problem? I tried to restore the material LAN and broadband services using the catering Manager, but no change has been observed. My computer does not see the ethernet and only makes me want to connect via wireless or dial-up. And I do not have access or at the present time.

If anyone has an idea on how I could restore the ethernet on my laptop, I would be really grateful!

    Thank you!

    Hello:

Nope, that's all the information I need.

From the info you have provided, I think that the chip on board NETWORK cable on the motherboard is faulty.

Cards mothers series model dv6000 were faced with questions.

My recommendation is to buy a cheap USB RJ - 45 10/100 network card and you'll be all set.

    Something like this...

  • Installed the latest important updates this morning; upon restart, the computer didn't work as expected. now behaves as if the motherboard is dead.

This morning at appx. 1:30 AM PST, I installed the latest important updates from the Windows Update Manager on my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop. I did manually, by a double click on the little icon in the toolbar and clicking on the button install. Once the update had completed, I clicked on the "restart later" button and close my computer using the Shut Down command - the usual symbol "click here to close and complete the installation" didn't appear. I thought it was a little weird, but chalked it up to the fact that I had taken the lead and made the installation.

About an hour and a half later, after being able to get to sleep, I decided that I would try to do a job. I pressed the power button and my computer started well upward, giving me the ' now install, update (1/3) [percentage] completed. Do not turn off your computer. "message. Which is quite normal, let him do his thing without turning it off.

The update is completed and I am greeted by my office. Displays the logon to Gmail Notifier window, and that's when my problems began: I tried to move the arrow to disappear, and the arrow has not moved. The circle of "transformation" had, next to the arrow, so I thought it must be a minor hiccup. I've waited, waited and waited... But even after all of my normal startup programs loaded, my mouse has failed.

Pressing the Windows key to open the menu start does not work, either; It was as if everything had been disconnected. After waiting a few minutes, I decide that maybe I just need to restart and, given that my keyboard was not working, I pressed and held the power button until the system off (I know, I know, it's a horrible thing to do).

I waited a minute, and then you press the power button. The lights came on, the fan spun, but the screen remains black as if I did nothing. I waited, because my computer arrived in the past tried to give me an attack of apoplexy by hanging several screens, but... nothing. The fan spun, the light shone their beautiful blue, but that's all.

The only thing I have changed or done differently was the updates, I have not dropped my computer; I've not spilled something on or in I have a Targus chill mat that I use religiously. I download attachments from people I don't know no/trust (I can't, my antivirus program deletes attachments in emails from spam); I use Firefox with NoScript and anti-ad; My AV/Antispyware/malware program is always up to date and six types of awesome and more.

My system is Windows Vista Home Premium on an HP Pavilion dv6000. I have an AMD Turion 64 x 2 processor and a Nvidia mobile graphics card (I don't remember exactly who he is; I can't the specs). I don't have a DVD of restoration, for reasons that did not need explores right now. I had my phone on... Two years, I think. I'll have to double check.

I can't start in safe mode, because I get nothing - no POST, no beeps, without bumps. The CD/DVD drive makes some noises, as he is looking for a drive (there isn't one in the drive), and that's it.

I think I have to take someone and make them open and see what's the problem, but I appreciate any thoughts/ideas/opinions/assistance that anyone can give. Thank you for your time and attention.

Alas, no, the screen seems to be fine. He had not been acting funny before that, in any case. I checked out, and the external monitor just went to sleep because there is no signal.

Thanks for taking a peek anyway. I guess it's a workshop for me and my laptop.

  • HP Pavilion dv6000 will not contribute to that.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 for some years, and suddenly, he will supply any.  I don't know that something happens at all when I press the power button.  What's weird is that when I connect the power, the LED AC (the one with the lightning bolt above it) lights and stays on for 30 seconds and then turns off.  During this time and afterwards, not at all, the lights, and the computer will not power.  I tried to remove the battery and power cord and holding the button power for 45 seconds, several times, but nothing is working.  I hope you can offer some tips on things to try.

    Thank you

    Zach

I made a breakthrough!  When I took the screen out, I also unplugged the inverter Board who joined the power to the LCD screen.  I plugged the AC and tried the power button, but it does not turn on.  While I would not lose the Commission, I plugged into the computer.  Before my eyes, the computer began to market.  At this point, I was able to switch to an external display (using Fn + F4) and I was good to go.  Bottom line is, if you have a laptop series dv which only lights up with a broken screen, remove and the inverter Board, plug AC in the reatattch of the Council of the inverter.

Now, this won't probably solved most of the problems you guys are, but it fixed mine, then I'll call the expressions of folklore on this one.

    Thank you

  • Pavilion dv6000: activate embedded speakers

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop running Vista. Recently, I bought a pair of external speakers that connect to the computer via the USB cable and the software owner.

Trying to get these external speakers to work I went to control panel > sounds and choose an option to disable the onboard speakers. This caused the icon for the onboard speakers to disappear.

Now the laptop plays sound only through external speakers. Can someone please offer me assistance to the reactivation of the speakers on board?

In the absence of any response, I started scratching around me to try to find clues that could lead to a solution.

Because I thought that the laptop sound card drivers may need to be reinstalled I tried "hp notebook drivers" and in very little time looking at this page: http://tinyurl.com/kkjqrs. One of the topics he is 'not to sound or Audio in Vista problems' - it's well to the top of my street.

  • Updating BIOS for Win7 on Pavilion DV6000

    Hello

I have an older HP Pavilion DV6000 with 4 GB of RAM (2 GB RAM upgrade).    However, only 2.69 GB can be used.   It has been suggested that I have upgraded the BIOS and turn "remapping memory."    The OS is Win7 Home Premium 32 bit OS.

l has a problem to find good BIOS upgrade.

Currently, the version of the BIOS is F.3D

    Processor: AMD Turion 64 x 2 Mobile Technology TL-56 1.80 Ghz

    Product ID: 00359-062-3478866-85570

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated as my new software needs more RAM to work.

    Thank you!

    Sam

    You are the very welcome.

Chart type is the main factor.

Even if your laptop has a Nvidia graphics card, a system memory is set aside for the graphics.

There is nothing you can do to change the amount of memory usable in your PC, unfortunately.

  • HP Pavilion dv6000 Hard Drive Upgrade

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 (Entertainment PC), it says on the box of dv6187ea (Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2 Ghz).

It's the hard drive died for the second time, I need to replace it and I don't know if this laptop can take sata3. I am now looking to a few Mobile WD2500BEKX black WD 250 GB, SATA3 7200 RPM, 16 MB of Cache and the other has the same features except that it is SATA2.

So first of all I would like to know if I can indeed use a sata3 or I am limited to sata2, and then what would you recommend as for 7200 rpm from 5400.

Prices are all Similarly, in reality the 7200 RPM are cheaper, my need is representation only, the battery was almost dead since I bought it (all laptops suffer from it) so I always TI plugged running the kde desktop + many services, I want to say he works a lot.

Thanks in advance, if I missed some information just make me know.

    Hello

As mentioned above, you can use SATA III because it is backward compatible, just pay a little more. In short: you can use the two 3 SATA or SATA 2.

    Kind regards.

  • HP Pavilion DV6000 CPU upgrade question

    Hi, first post.

Just given a free laptop DV6000 and I like to tinker. Have built & modified several jobs over the years, but this is my first laptop.

Identify the first thing. Top screen bezel page HR said HP Pavilion DV6000

Said a slogan on bottom DV6700, but also DV6818CA (isn't it a Canadian cell phone, with a bilingual keyboard).

I think I'll give up the bilingual keyboard, because it lacks the F10 key they resemble only 15 dollars off Ebay in any case.

BUT, when I did a scan on Crucial.com memory, they said it was a Pavilion dv6700t series

Product # background is: KN948UA #ABC if this is useful it nail?

Googling the product # gives this hit: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01393353

It has 4 GB of RAM in it, right now and is under Win7 Home Premium.

I think to get the fastest processor that the Mobo can handle and stick it in there. At present, it has a @1 T2370. 73 Ghz, and from what I understand, I can put in the processor the faster is a T7800 @ 2.6 Ghz (if I read correctly)

Advice or direct experience anyone? Thanks in advance.

Oh, and PS, I had read that an update of the BIOS when running Win7 would brick of the PC, is it true?

I can easily get back to Vista and do an update of the BIOS in the first place, if necessary, the new processor, then reinstall Win7.

My BIOS version is F.52 24/03/2008

    Hello:

I must have missed reading your post.

It's because I don't watch that normally messages unanswered, and yours is as responded because you posted more than once until I woke up the next morning.

Your laptop may actually take the T9500 since you have an equal or superior to F.45 bios.

The release notes for F.45 State... Adds support for Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile Processors T8100, T8300, T9300, T9500.  Fixes the problem where the 1394 port may not work after the release of the standby mode.

Yes, you will definitely your laptop brick if you update the BIOS while running Windows 7.  You need to Flash the BIOS in Vista.

Memory... Yes, your PC will work happily 2 x 4 GB PC2 - 5300 or memory 6400. However, unlike the desktop version of the 965 chipset that manages the memory at 800 MHz, the mobile version runs only the memory at 667 MHz.

You can read that this related thread about memory in dv6500 + Intel models with the 965 chipset.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware-e-g-Windows-8/the-dv6700z-and-dv9700z-will-support-over-4GB-of-RAM/m-p/566163#M42472

The bad news is that if you have not already this memory (or you can get it at a steep discount), you will pay over $ 200 for 2 x 4 GB for memory that you need.

I would think more than twice before shelling out that kind of $$$ for the memory of a dated PC.

When I go into my device manager, I don't have even a tab that says 'his', which does not help. I have no driver installed, so there is no way to uninstall it and then reinstall the driver. I also tried my services and then go to Windows Audio properties to make sure that the startup type is automatic and is listed like that.  Honestly, I feel like I've tried everything! Hello

    Laptop: HP Pavilion DV6000 - P/N GH882EA #ABH

After the hard disk crash, I installed the new hard drive and installed Windows 7 successfully.

I don't have a recovery disk (East on previous hard drive that crashed before).

After that I checked the BIOS updates / etc. graphics driver on HP support site, I downloaded some of them.

Installation of the update SP48121 BIOS stopped at 39 fo 42 blocks. I waited for 3 hours, but nothing happened.

Then, I decided to power the laptop, knowing that it could cause serious problems.

Now I have serious problems, because my laptop won't boot any upward.

I am facing a black screen and 1 long and 2 short beeps.

After I removed the RAM, the ringing has stopped, but I'm stil looking at a black screen.

I studied different solutions on this forum, but nothing works for me. Does not even flashing the BIOS; the screen is always black.

That's why I ask you if you can provide a working solution.

    Kind regards.

Fair enough, I just wanted to be sure.

I think at this stage, that the problem is with the motherboard. I will seek to have it replaced.
