HP Pavilion dv6t-7000: want to boot from the cd drive, but can't get the UEFI bios

I try to perform a simple boot from a CD/DVD on my HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 portable player.

After I bought it, I divided the hard drive into two partitions, is win8.1 and the other win7.  I tried the boot menu (by pressing ESC when it first starts) and the possibility to enter the BIOS.  However, he will just immediately go back to the start menu, inviting you to select win8.1 or win7.

Pretty frustrated at this point.    I watched a video on youtube where the guy said go to the bios UEFI and toggle the settings, but I can't even BIOS.  Shouldn't UEFI recognize that there is something in the CD/DVD drive and ask if you want to boot from it?      Thanks for all answers

After tapping Esc and get boot F9 menu-tap Options. Use the arrow key to move down and highlight / select the CD/DVD and press ENTER.

  • Pavilion dv6t-7000 failed to create a virtual hard drive for a dual boot Windows 7 / windows 8

Hi, I just bought this system, a Hp Pavilion dv6t-7000, Enterntainment CTO notebook PC.  I want to take the amount of space between the C drive and create a virtual hard disk.

Disk 0 is severed as follows:

    System:

199 MB NTFS; Primary partition, Active system

C: 678.60 GB NTFS; Boot, page file, crash dump, primary Partition

D recovery: 21,53 Go NTFS; Healthy primary partition

HP_tools 108 MB Fat 32; Healthy primary partition

I would take 50 GB on C: and create a virtual hard disk to install windows 8 to have a dual boot system.  Can someone point me to a credible link that describes how do this or share the solution?  I tried a process described in TechRepublic where you create a virtual hard disk, and then start on Windows 8, shift f10 in an admin window and try to use diskpart select vdisk file that does not exist, that is to say, I'm not.

Is there anything else I need to do?  I can do this via disk management?

    Thanks much for any info.

I found this process is here.

It seems similar to the process of the technology of the Republic, but it has a few key differences. Give the TechNet process a try it may work because of the extra steps, he has.

  • HP Pavilion p7-1414 will not boot from the CD

    Hello

I recently bought your desktop HP Pavilion p7 1414, I am trying to boot from a CD to reinstall Windows 8 - I put the CD to start first in the BIOS, but when I restart the computer and I have the CD, "press any key to boot from the CD" is not displayed.  It starts just directly to the computer HARD disk in Windows to connect.

I have 64-bit Windows 8. 6 GB of RAM and a terabyte of HARD drive space.  I'm looking to reinstall Windows 8 for a new start.  Any ideas why it won't boot from the CD?

    Very happy!

    Hello:

You must go into the BIOS and enable the legacy Mode and disable secure boot.

  • HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 CTO: impossible to install the Intel HD Graphics driver

    Hello

By mistake, I installed the Standard VGA graphics card to replace the Intel HD graphics card on my laptop. Now, I want to just reinstall the graphics driver Intel Graphics HD 4000. For some reason, I get the error message "Setup could not install one or more device drivers. What is the cause of this problem? I tried to restart, restart in safe mode, disabling/uninstalling the VGA driver, but had no success.

It seems that the driver I'm supposed to install is win64_153336 - using the update utility Intel also gives me this result. He simply refuses to install it. I had this problem before, then I got around it by installing an older driver, sp56808. Now, even if it does not work.

My laptop is a HP dv6t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC and my OS is Win 7 Ultimate x 64.

    Thank you for your help.

    We can always hope

The problem has been resolved. I ran the utility to update again, then downloaded an older version, which is win64_153335. For some reason any, this version successfully installed. Before that, I always had the same error with the other drivers. I must say that I have no idea of what has past.

It was a pretty trivial thing, and even if it's fixed now, I'm not exactly sure how. I would delete this topic if I could, to leave room for other topics.

  • HP Pavilion Dv6t-7000. How to check the AHCI?

Hi all, I want to install a MAC OS on my laptop hp dv6t-7000. but requiment is the HARD drive must have an AHCI enabled.

So I read some information on this subject and a few other guys said my laptop auto AHCI but I can't install this OS because AHCI is not activate errors.

Can someone tell me how to check and make sure that the AHCI is enabled on my laptop?

Product of my cell phone number is A3E82AV.

TKS for your help and sorry for my English.

    Kind regards.

    Hello:

The simple way to check if your laptop drive controller is set to AHCI or RAID (it will be one of the two, and they is not editable by any means) is to do the following.

To check if the drive is set to AHCI, go to Device Manager. Look at the categories of device.

If the laptop is AHCI, there will be a category of devices IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.  Click to expand this category and you will see the name of the controller sata which are listed there.  For the chipset of your model, you should see that an Intel (r) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller listed.

If your laptop drive controller is set to RAID, look further down the list of device category, and you'll see a category of storage controllers. Click to expand that, and if your laptop drive controller is set to RAID, you should see a controller Intel (r) Mobile Express Chipset SATA RAID.

Here is how you can determine which mode the inverter of your laptop SATA is configured for.

  • HP Pavilion 500-210 QE cannot boot from any hard drive.

Good evening. As you can see on the subject, my computer just cannot boot from any hard disk that I put on it. I tried swapping the power supply, SATA cable, reset the BIOS, allowing the start legacy, changing to AHCI to IDE and RAID...

When I get to the BIOS Setup, I see the hard drive and its features, but it will not start or show when I am trying to install a new OS. I'm not an expert, but I think that the problem could be in the motherboard SATA ports, but I'm not sure. Just to be sure, I tried another harddrive and it did not work as well.

I was also thinking to buy a HDD external and installation of my OS on it, but I don't even know if it is possible and I would really like to have my computer working again.

    Thank you for your attention!

Ok. That doesn't say that it is very likely that the motherboard has problems.

  • Key Action WiFi does NOT work on Pavilion DV6t-7000

I just got a new Pavilion DV6t-7000 Quad Edition laptop, and the first thing I did after I boot the system was to upgrade the operating system.  I have an MSDN subscription, so I've upgraded to Windows 8 Pro (RTM).  Everything is great... except for the WiFi button.  It does simply not to turn on or turn off the WiFi connection.

It always shows a white LED while the WiFi is on, and pressing the button does nothing.  Other action keys may work... the brightness, mute audio, etc.  If I disable the WiFi in the network Panel, then the light turns red.  As if she recognizes the WiFi it's takes no action to actually turn on or turn it off.

I updated the BIOS to the latest version, by the site of HP support for the 64 bit of Windows 8 OS, and I checked in the BIOS action keys are enabled.

Can someone help me get this to work?

    Thank you!

    -Andrew

Have you tested it before loading Windows 8 on it?

Support of thing going before interview, that Windows 8 drivers are available or not, is to perform a recovery to the original embedded operating system.

If it is a fault, the question would be present in the original Windows 7 operating system as well. I suspect that this is largely a software/driver problem.

Also, I recommend the update to the BIOS before installing Windows 8. Windows 8 installations work differently with the BIOS that previous versions of Windows, so the end result would be different to reinstall Windows 8 from the version of the BIOS is different this time.

However, I recommend he get back to Windows 7 in order to ensure all features is present.

I know you probably don't want to go back in the recovery efforts there to Windows 7 and then put 8 on.

By chance, you did the recovery disks for your system first? If this is not the case, they must be ordered from HP. You can try to use the Recovery Manager to create, but I don't know if it will work since the operating system has been modified.

In all cases, whether it works or not with the original software, she shipped will help determine if it is a defect or not. More than likely, it is not and is only a matter of unfortunate compatibility with Windows 8.

  • Portege R100 - boot from the external HARD drive

I have a Portege R100 and the HARD drive has failed. I installed a new HARD drive and I have the Toshiba recovery disks. I tried to boot from a generic USB CD-ROM but the laptop did not recognize.

I have a disk of Toshiba USB drive it does not recognize and I have a restore disc but I don't know how from there. Do I have to buy a CD external Toshiba and if so, which?
    Any useful suggestions?

    Hello

Boot from the external USB CD/DVD drive is not possible.
You will also be able to boot from USB HDD!

If you want to boot from the CD, you must use a compatible PCMCIA cards (16-bit and 32-bit Cardbus) CD/DVD drive.

  • How to boot from the CD of Win XP to install the OS on Satellite L

I put the boot options in the main BIOS to the first device: CD/DVD, Second device: SATA HDD, third device: device Realtek agent, but still goes to the SATA and the existing program.

There is another box of selection of Boot with SATA as the first device, like the second DVD and it is obviuos that it is the sequence that is followed.
He spend the top and down arrow to move the selection and ENTER to select the boot device.

When I press ENTER the screen goes black program starts from the SATA.

Why are there two boxes of sepearte for Boot Order selection?

This seems an idea of garbage since they can be set to clash; as is the case in my case.

If anyone has had this problem or know the answer correct?

    Hello

I think you mixed with something.
The boot order can be set as on the other laptop models.
The second SATA option can set to AHCI or compatibility mode.
This is necessary because the new laptops with the new SATA HDD controller. Usually Win XP doesn't do not contains the drivers for SATA HDD controller and if you want to install the operating system without installation of the SATA drivers then you might be the SATA in compatibility mode.

PS: If you want to boot from the STRANGE then you should press button C immediately after to laptop computer has been turned on. You can also press F12 to activate the start on-screen menu. Then you could choose the STRANGE as a boot device.

  • XPS 12 / Win 8: how to boot from the recovery partition / reinstall Windows?

Messed up things on a newly purchased 12 XPS in Windows 8, and I want to boot from the recovery partition and reinstall windows.

Support online pages point by pressing F8 during startup, but this does not at all.

How can I access the recovery partition?

To access to the menu of, , press F2.

To enter the boot options menu, press F12.

Because the XPS 12 boots so fast, it is better to repeatedly press F2 or F12 after restarting the machine. During the startup process, texts for options should appear at the bottom right of the screen. If you enter Windows, you will need to restart again and press F2 or F12 until it works. However, I don't think there is an option in the BIOS to restore the computer to its factory condition. The previous post by DELL-VIKRAM M describes how to properly restore the machine to its factory state.

  • Install WD Black2 Dual Drive on a Pavilion dv6t-7000

    Hello

I recently bought a new internal hard drive for my HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC and have some difficulties to install the drivers for it. I bought a Western Digital Black2 Dual disc, which is a hybrid disk with 120 GB SSD and 1 TB of HARD drive, but I can't access the 1 TB because the installer for WD drivers keeps returning an error code.

After much digging, I found documentation of the WD site that States the particualr error I received was due to one) the SATA mode to RAID in the BIOS, or b) an Intel driver a RAID reporting configuration. I can not check the BIOS settings myself, because the tab in the BIOS for this is hidden and locked down due to the fact that I'm working on a laptop of HP (I found answers on the forums for models with slightly different laptop computer that reported the AHCI is the default SATA for HP laptops) (, but unable to verify for my particular model). However, I was able to find an Intel driver that can cause the problem in the Device Manager. It is listed under 'Storage controllers' and is called 'Intel(r) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E SATA RAID Controller '. When you contact the service customer of WD, the representative has tried to help me change this default Microsoft Inbox Driver by following the process: (right click > update driver software > Browse my computer... > choose from the list of device drivers). Unfortunately, it was not useful because the afforementioned Intel driver is the only one available. I was a bit puzzled by that because I installed windows 7 from scratch, only adding the drivers from the HP site needed to establish a wireless connection to download the installation of WD software.

So basically I'm looking for help in these areas: a) to determine the particular my laptop model SATA mode, b) to understand why I have the default Microsoft Inbox Driver, c) installation of the Microsoft Inbox Driver default value or a Variant that works with AHCI, and/or d) any other course of action I could take additional troubleshooting.

Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (installation costs)

Laptop model: HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC

Hard disk: Western Digital Black2 Dual Drive

Error: A bad SATA mode in the BIOS or reported by the Intel driver

Pilot suspect: Intel(r) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E SATA RAID Controller

    Thank you kindly,
