    Hi all

I recently bought a y510p ideapad. It came with pre-installed win8, and I have no recovery CD. I intend to play with linux on this laptop, but do not want to lose win8. So before I have potentially immediately reformat, I think to make a copy of clone of my HDD on an external USB drive. The general plan is like that,

    1. make a copy of mobile on external USB HARD drive

2 mud with linux - and foolishly autour reformat the entire process

    3. have fed up with linux and want to return to windows

4 copy of retrospective data from usb driver external HDD latop

5 return to the comfort of win8

With the help of this tool (clonezilla) will work in the above scenario?

If not, are there any other alternatives (free if all goes well) I could use?

My intention with the backup, is that after that I have 'restore' things, "a key recovery" button should continue to work as before.

Make the plan will cause OKR is not functioning properly. To prove this to get a hard drive of exact size and make a clone of hard disk of the device. Remove the hard drive from the unit and place the disc clone hard inside. You can now play with the disk hard clone to your hearts desire but OKR first test if it still works. Even if OKR no longer work, you can proceed with the installation of linux. Once you're disgusted with Linux everything you have to do is replace the hard disk clone with the original hard drive and you're back to win with OKR 8 still works.

  • Install Win8 on new HARD drive using disks of recovery on HP Envy M6

Okay, so I have my hard drive crashed a few months. So, I ordered a set of HP recovery disks. I finally get around to retrieve Win8 on the new HARD drive. However, I follow these instructions and it does NOT work. I get to the Boot Manager and nothing is there - at all. So, I went back to the BIOS and disabled secure boot (just in case). Yet, nothing. After several hours, I dropped...

Flash forward to today. I have enabled the legacy starts, moved DVD player y up in my order of start and stuck in a Win7 disc, I have here. One immediately recognizes the disc.

I finally decided to try to install recovery using USB thought which may help. So, I had on my desktop and tried to rip an .iso of the disks. Both PowerISO and IMGBurn rise "IO error" partially through the period of inquiry.

I'm starting think that the discs are bad... That would not explain why can't I see my optical drive in the Boot Manager however.

    Thoughts?

It was records. I downloaded a copy of Win8 and it began immediately.

  • How to install Win8 on Portege Z930

    Hello

We have a Portege Z930 with Win 7 preinstalled.
Now, we want to spend to Win 8.
There were two Win8 DVD provided.

Can I use this upgrade DVD?
How can I use DVDs without a drive?

I tried with another laptop DVD and the DVD is not bootable.

    Any tips?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards

    Hello

    > How to use the DVD without a player?
I guess that you can use if you do not have external CD/DVD drive

Perhaps you could borrow the car to a friend

If not try to copy the contents of the disc to a key memory USB flash and then try to boot from the stick.
But to be honest, I not quite sure m TI would work.

  • Satellite P775 program-S7230 - after installing Win8 32 bit, keyboard collapsed work

    Can someone please help?

I installed Windows 8, 32 Bit, as a clean install.
Used Toshiba Wizard and everything went well until the second day when I turned on the laptop
The keyboard is not all the essential features.

I plugged a Logitech keyboard and wireless mouse, functions such as DVD, Volume, switch & worked, the rest of the key traits does not save.

F2 & F12 function keys does not work so I can't get into the BIOS settings.

    Can anyone suggest a solution?

    > F2 & F12 function keys does not work so I can't get into the BIOS settings.

This has nothing to do with the system installed.
If you are not able to access the BIOS because the "F2" does not work, then it means that the material of the keyboard is not recognized by the BIOS / laptop.

In this step, windows drivers are not responsible for the keyboard because at the BIOS level (by turning on the unit in place) the system is not loaded so it cannot be a Win8 problem or other question of system, it looks like a hardware keyboard problem.
I think that it s just a bad luck that it happened shortly after the installation of Win 8

  • Used to install WIN8 drivers

New Dell XPS 8700 Win8 64 - bit PC.  Drivers for HP LaserJet 1536dnf MFP will not install it, goes to 99% and then expires.  Install the package is hp_M1530_MFP_full_Solution_usb_n_w.exe downloaded after HP autodetect for the printer.  Restart does not help.  Appreciate any help.  Jon

It's OK now.  Installed from the original purchase of 2010 CD, no problem.  Why the old software works and software update does not is something only HP could answer.

  • HP Pavilion a1640n: install a new nVidia video card

I just bought a GeForce 9400 GT from nVidia video card to upgrade my HP Pavilion a1640n running Windows XP SP3.  The a1640n has integrated the video and says nVidia user guides: "If your motherboard has integrated video card integrated, you may need to disable first, please contact your system or motherboard manufacturer."

My questions: do I have to first disable the integrated graphics subsystem?  If so, how?  Are there jumpers on the motherboard or the I disable in BIOS or in Windows Device Manager or...?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello:

There is no video settings to change in the BIOS normally on the HP PC. There are no riders to pass.

What you want to do is to first uninstall the drivers of your graphics integrated in the Device Manager. Just right click on the match video and select uninstall.

Do not restart the computer. Instead, stop it and install your new video card. Re-turn on your PC. Your new video card should be detected automatically and your integrated graphics should be disabled automatically.

Don't forget to move your video cable on the new map.

If you purchased a card with HDMI output, your integrated sound card will probably disabled in favor of audio HD integrated on the video card.

Don't worry there. Go into your BIOS if your sound is turned off and change your audio settings embedded auto to "Enabled". Save the setting it by hitting the F10 key and there still when you go out.

Your integrated sound card should be back, and you'll also audio HDMI when you need.

    Hi @Lusodana

    Thank you for your query.

I understand - you want to update your laptop for Windows 7.  But that is not supported by HP, it may be possible but HP wouldn't provide drivers.

Here is a link to Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor where you can download the Advisor to help you with this decision.

This link will advise you on the acquisition of the drivers if you are able to upgrade.

Download or update of software and drivers for HP computers

  • HP Pavilion 23: Install the new OS

I have a desktop HP Pavilion 23 I used DBAN to wipe the hard disk, because the computer was sent to me from a family member who died and it has been password protected. What is my next step to get it working? It had Windows 7 Home Premium on it, but no more since I wiped it.

If the set of recovery disks were made before you DBANned the drive, run them.  If you do not, you could order at HP, perhaps, a few $.  Otherwise, install a copy of Windows 7 retail, or 8.1, or 10.  Probably should ask about this before running DBAN.

  • Pavilion P6720TR: Installed new GPU does not work

I upgraded my old PC pre-built 2011 with Corsair VS 450 & Asus GTX 750 it. I installed my new GPU and everytime I turn on my desktop computer is blocked on startup of HP logo and it will emit several beeps. I think that HP motherboards are not compatible with the new GPU OR the HP bios are totally incompatible. There are HP experts who can help me with this problem?

The issue that you are facing, it's that the new video card requires a motherboard that has a UEFI BIOS.

Your card mother HP 2011 has a BIOS that is inherited and is not compatible with the newer video cards. Install a compatible with legacy BIOS video card and it will work in your HP PC.

Unfortunately, mixing the new and the old BIOS technology just doesn't work. It has nothing to do with the fact that it is HP. you would face the same situation with any motherboard 2011. These are the days of the legacy BIOS. 2012 and new PCs and laptops use UEFI BIOS.
