HP Pavilion G6 2220sq: upgrade HP Pavilion G6 2220sq

Hi, my laptop has a processor Intel Pentium B960 (2.2 GHz, 1333 MHz/2 MB L3 cache) double 35 W.  I want to replace it with a better. In the datasheet, I found Intel Core i7-3632QM processor (2.2 GHz, turbo SC up to 3.1 GHz, 1600 MHz/6 MB L3, QuadCore cache, 35 W) , but it's too expensive.

I wonder if there are other compatible QuadCore processors with this device. I have only $ 200.

I use it for programming (Linux) and game development (3D, 3D SMAX on Windows 10 Unity). It runs very slowly and I think that the CPU is very poor. My HARD drive is also very slow.

Thank you

I understand you want to upgrade your processor to a quad core, but the processor Intel Core i7-3632QM (2.2 GHz, SC turbo up to 3.1 GHz, 1600 MHz/6 MB L3 cache, Quad Core, 35 W) is expensive.

Here is a link to HP Pavilion Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide of g6 . When I checked for processors recommended for your system (Chapter 3, page 23, item 10) which is the only quad core listed.

I hope this helps!

I am sure that electrically and physically there is no problems (the chipset is Intel HM76 that supports taken rPGA 988B processors, and the processor is on the list of upgrade of the socket according to the official website of Intel). What is more, I saw the 3610QM i7 launched in Q2 2012 and laptop BIOS's May 29, 2013. CPU - Z indicates that the version I currently have is F.25, made by Insyde before specified date. The i7-3610QM is not in the list. Your logic is impeccable on why it should work, but it may or may not. The i7-3632QM will work certainly because it's on the list. The model with this processor uses the same motherboard as yours.

  • Pavilion AMD A8-6500: graphic upgrade

    Hi all

My son has a HP Pavilion AMD A8-6500 with Radeon HD 3.50 ghz graphics card.

It now wants to update as graphic says not good enough.

What our options are, what is implementing implement as buying a better graphics card or is it more complicated?

    see you soon

    Jason

    Hi there @Jason1966,

That the Forums are with you!  I understand that you are looking for advice on upgrading a graphics card.  I'm happy to help you with this.

Please report the number of complete product from your computer. Check out the following, if you need assistance with this information. HP desktop PC - how can I find my model number, serial number or product?  Once I got that I can give you more in the way of what to look for.

In general, you should know what types of expansion slots your computer is available. More recent graphics cards will focus you on PCI Express x 16 slots and their willingness to be a version or the generation of these slots.  If the motherboard has only Gen 1.0, and the graphics card is Gen 3.0, then the card would work, but it will run more slowly he would in a slot of Gen 3.0. So you want to look at the capacity of your computer's power supply. A common value is 300 W. Higher end graphics cards will be a requirement of minimum recommended power of 400 W or more, although there are cards with a lower requirement. It is always better to have a power that exceeds the minimum value. Also related to food some graphics cards require extra power of a specific type connections. You must make sure that your diet has these connections available. Then, make sure that the card has drivers for the operating system installed on your computer, and if the card is UEFI, make sure that your system has UEFI.

If all these parameters are filled between your system and the card, the graphics card should work, but there is never a guarantee, because each computer system is as an individual, once it's in the hands of a user. You may have already installed another device that is in conflict with this card or perhaps a software which does not get her drivers graphics. So long story short, it is not easier to just buy a better card, you need to do some research.

I hope this helps clarify the issues for you and if you find it helpful and useful, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

I want to upgrade with a secondary hard drive using the port m2 (empty), but I was unable to find the right type of device (Sata or Pcie) m2.

According to the "HP Pavilion Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide", these are the possible configurations:

but I have no idea what kind of M.2 ssd should I buy...
M.2 internal SATA port or the PCIe is?
I also heard that in some cases the port of m2 is not enabled.

So my question is: How can I know if the port of m2 is activated and M.2 SSD is compatible with it?

Thank you much for the help!

I finally got an answer from HP support, my port of m2 is successfully activated and works very well. It is sata and pcie compatible.

  • Pavilion p6-2422el: Pavilion p6-2422el GPU upgrade

After a little research I ' ve found the 750 gtx or 750ti cards and I would like to know if they are compatible with my system. If you have any suggestions for the best graphics cards please tell me. Sorry for the bad English.

PS. I looked on data sheets HP and idk why but my pc has a different cpu (i5-3330)

    Hi there @Francesco55,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!  I understand that you look at upgrading the graphics card in your computer.  I'm happy to help you with this.

Looking at the HP Pavilion p6-2422el product specifications desktop PC and HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - specifications of the motherboard, H-Joshua-H61-Μatx (Joshua), your system has the following:

    300W internal power supply (100V-240V)

    A PCI Express x 16 (Gen2.0)
    Three PCI Express x 1 (Gen2.0) connectors
    A PCI Express x 1 Mini card

Any card you're looking at would be necessary to act within these limits.

Looking at the: GeForce GTX 750 Ti spécifications

    Minimum configuration of power (W) 300 W

Support for the PCI Express 3.0 bus

And: the GeForce GTX 750 specifications

    Minimum configuration of power (W) 300 W

Support for the PCI Express 3.0 bus

Neither the map shows a requirement for a secondary power supply, but both require a minimum of a 300W power supply. You can install a power of higher capacity to exceed this requirement and avoid potential problems.

Please let me know if it works for you and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • HP Pavilion 15: Can I upgrade my GTX 970 graphics card or 980

Hi I want to upgrade my graphics card for my laptop for GTX 970 m I currently have a Radeon graphics card and Intel HD Graphics can I put my graphics?

I have a HP Pavilion 15 touch screen, CPU is Intel Core i5 4200u and Windows 8

My graphics card is AMD Radeon 8670 M 1 GB DDR3 and I want to update if I can improve my graphics card?

Replace that? It is a solid unit welded together. There is nothing to remove and replace it with something else, that's what I'm trying to say. How do you imagine this replacement is going to happen? A standard desktop video card won't slip into a laptop so what kind of thing are thinking you that you can stick in there?

There is no on-board Bios Flash program and I can't seem to find any information. Any ideas?

    AZ_scuba_dude, welcome to the forum.

There is no update software/BIOS for Win7 for the computer.  It is unlikely that there will be a developed.  However, there is a BIOS update for XP.  You will need to do a system restore to the original configuration that includes XP.  Once this operation is complete, you can update the BIOS to version: 3.19.  You can do the update using the executable file (sp35100.exe). Although she did not mention anything about what makes the upgrade of the processor.  Here are the Specifications of the motherboard of the computer.  In the processor upgrade information section, it lists the updates that supports HP.

Please let us know if this solved your problem or not.

Yet, many people choose to do and it's a services of this Forum, run by people not HP, can you bring, including HP itself can not, but don't say you were not warned. It is actually fairly difficult. Removal of the motherboard is not necessary, but demand close attention to tighten management and you will be OK. There is also the issue of finding the compatible memory. DDR4 is fairly new on the market.

See p. 35 and this is the memory module you need to reference HP:

    8 GB 2133 MHz 1.2V shared DDR4 820570-005

    It works:

15 - e020tx is the model and there a processor i7 and switchable graphics with Radeon HD 8670 so it is pretty high-end as laptops go, but it's what they are. On laptops in general in most cases, including your case, no video 'card is' to be removed, replaced or upgraded. She is soldered directly to the motherboard. There is no way to upgrade in other words.

  • HP Pavilion p6210y: Office flashing after upgrade Windows 10

I have a flashing desktop (goes black and office) after upgrade to Windows 10.  Once connected, it is fine for about 10-15 seconds, then it starts flashing. I couldn't do anything - click on anything except CTRL-ALT-DEL to go to the Task Manager.

I did the upgrade 2 x already. Before my first attempt, I do nothing with my PC - I did not update the driver. When I arrived the office flashing after improvement, I panicked and immediately brought back to Windows 7. I was able to get to the window of recovery during the period of 10-15 seconds just after the connection. Fortunately, he returned to Windows 7.

After the first test, I read a little about the similar problem and so I tried some of the proposed solutions - update the drivers on my PC, to disable reporting services Windows (all on 10 to win), to try to go to Safe Mode.

So I tried again. I updated all the things I can to update (for most drivers) before the upgrade. Do you have PC Clean up. I had the office flashes again. It's the same thing. So while they are flashing, I tried to disable the windows reporting services that is very difficult to do with the Office of flashing. He did nothing clearly. So I went in Mode without failure. After starting in safe mode, I got the normal screen for about 5 seconds, but a blue window quickly flashed and then the desktop on Mode without failure just turned black, only the visible cursor.

So, I rolled back to Windows 7 new.

I don't have a lot of things/programs on my PC that I uninstall programs right away if I know that I will not use. I do scan of cleaning/Virus from PC on a regular basis.

    Information about my machine:

    HP Pavilion p6210y

    Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit

    Video card: NVIDIA GEForce 9100

All the suggestions/help will be very appreciated.

The only thing that solved the issue is reset my machine while keeping my personal files.

I've never understood what really caused it.

Thus, after the upgrade when the screen is flashing, I have reset the PC.

  • HP Pavilion Slimeline 400-224: upgrade memory on Pavilion Slimline 400-224

I want to upgrade the memory of my HP pavilion slimline 400-224.  After opening the case, how do I determine how many memory locations is available?  The current Council of the memory is SK Hynix 4 G 1Rx8 PC3L 12800 S-11-13 - B4.   It seems to be another location, just underneath and take-away.

Can you tell me if this machine has one or two slots for memory...  Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Here are thespecifications of your machine. It allows two modules of 8 GB.  You said 4 GB installed.  Which would jive with your Visual (only 1 modules installed). If it was mine, I would opt for a corresponding module of 4 GB and do with it.

HP PartSurfer does not list the SK Hynix 4 G 1Rx8 PC3L 12800 S-11-13 - B4.  Another curious point, the specs list 6 GB installed. It would be a 4 GB and 2 GB modules.
