  • MU USB ports are no longer works?

I hope I have this in the correct category to help!

    I have a HP Pavilion dv9000.

Until about a month ago my USB ports worked well. Now, they only charge my iPhone and work my wireless mouse. They do not read my external drives, as they did, as I have lots of info on these drives should I go for info.
I have used my drives in another computer and they read it very well, it's not the drive itself.
I tried to install a PCIMIA card with no luck. On this map, I even used the additional power source that will map to an adjacent USB port for power and not luck.
Is there a way to solve this problem or a work around? Or is the computer to a point of electronic recycling?
Thx for any help that you can float my way.

What (error) message you get? Have you the cable also worked on another computer? Cables can easily go wrong, I suggest you that try another known working cable.

Alternatively, you can try to reset the power of USB:
Turn off the computer, remove the power plug from the wall outlet, the battery of the computer femove (laptop), wait a few minutes and then restart your computer.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-6b78us: 2 ports keyboard no longer work after replacing

I replaced the keyboard on this laptop a few hours ago. When I got to the top, the two USB ports on the right side of the laptop don't work anymore.

I have disconnected all devices from ports, uninstalled all the USB drivers, shut down, unplugged from power and removed the battery for more than 30 minutes.

I've got it backwards, propelled the drivers installed, but the two USB ports were not always working.

I checked the Device Manager to verify that there is no (!) ot (?) by devices.

I did a system restore from a point I knew for sure they worked, which was five days ago. Still no luck.

    It's really not cool.

If anyone can provide solutions, I would appreciate it.

    Sincerely,

    Tom

The right USB ports are on a separate Board that plugs into the motherboard with a cable that runs under the keyboard.

    Manual

    See page 77.

It is not impossible that you hit somehow the connection usb Board cable during the installation of the keyboard. I don't see any other explanation.

  • Pavilion S5-1204: USB Ports does not: Windows 7 HP Pavilion Slimline

    Hi all

Yesterday all of a sudden the USB ports are not read.  I have cameras and use a data transfer cable or a card reader to transfer to the office.  Now they do not read.  Tried the front and back of the usb ports.   However, the optical mouse that uses a usb device works.   I don't understand how the mouse works and the purse strings of data transfer and the readers aren't.

    Help!

Update: I did troubleshoot a HP check and update driver.  The screen messages

USB root hub: this device does not work correctly.

    The current tab:

    Generic USB Hub (6)

    1 port available

    Power required: 0mA

    Solved.

I've narrowed the problem to the camera. Very strange. The camera will take pictures and display them on the screen. But something is happening internally where the image will not transmit or transfer it via a usb device.

I have another device with a transfer device and it works. So it seems I have to buy a new digital camera. BTW, it is a Nikon S2800 - not recommended.

I can't go in safe mode because my keyboard is a keyboard wired usb and the usb ports are not on the time that I have to press F8 (or any function key). I understand there is a setting that I could make to the registry. Can someone give me the specs?

  • Portege M500 cannot start when the USB ports are loaded

We have a M500 that recently seems to be affected by start-up problems when the USB ports are loaded with things like KB and Wireless Mouse USB external adapter.

When these ports are occupied at the start, all the usual tools seem do not load and the associated icons do not appear in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. The machine in question XP Professional and has 2 GB of RAM. The machine software is generally updated. Machine seems to start normally when the USB ports are empty.

Once completed a successful boot USB ports can be occupied and the machine will then seem to operate normally.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you.

    Hello!

In your case, I would do a BIOS update and also the chipset driver.
The two you can find on the Toshiba site. I m not sure but I think you have a model for Canada:

Have you tested the devices USB on another computer laptop or PC? Maybe the problem is the keyboard and/or the mouse and not the laptop.

  • USB ports are interchangeable?

I have 8 Ports USB connected to my computer and 3 USB Ports are used by a printer, Scanner and Webcam. I'm sure all three devices are Plug 'n' play.

The devices work well but that they still work if they have been placed in a different USB port and a new device (e.g. headphones) can be placed in one of the USB Ports 8 or are each USB port ' device-specific?

    Thank you.

    S1

They will work very well.  Some of your USB ports are more Rapids and those that should be used for devices that can use the speed, if necessary.  What happens is when you switch from one port to the other that a driver for this device is installed on this port.

  • The Device Manager on my Windows box lists a hub USB 3.0 as one of USB controllers. This means that one or more of the USB ports are capable of 3.0?

I recently bought a backup disk says he would run faster is it my 3.0 instead of 2.0 USB ports.

Just try to understand the computer itself, if one of the 8 USB ports on my desktop Dell (Windows 7, 64-bit box) is capable of USB 3.0.

    Hi John,.

The message that Windows gives is Windows telling you put a USB 3.0 device in a USB 2.0 slot and the speeds will be Cap using USB 2.0 footrest.

If you are looking for your system on the website of Glens, it should tell you if one of the USB ports are 3.0 or not.  I think that USB 3.0 is marked with the blue wire around the ports.

  • USB ports are not available

My host is a laptop Toshiba with Ws 7. The USB ports are fully operational. However, with the players that they are not. for example, XHDD is not on the desktop "XP".

What to do so I can make use of the USB ports?

    Hi Redoak716,

You just need to add a USB controller to the hardware of your virtual machine configuration. Make sure VMware tools are installed and running in the comments.

Once your virtual machine is in place and your USB drive connected to the host, attach it to the guest using the control panel of devices on the lower right part of the screen of the console. It will be detached from the host that it cannot be used by the two systems at the same time.

    It will be useful.

    Hello

Since 2004, I have a Satellite M30-344. Some time ago, I changed my system from XP home to XP pro and my USB 2.0 no longer works since. I need to use XP pro because XP home does ' t run some CAD software that I use. Can I do about this problem? I could not find the USB drivers in the Toshiba downloads.

    I agree with Sascha.
But you also need to install SP2!

This is necessary and important. I put t know if you already use the SP2 or not, but it must be installed on your laptop to get the USB ports work!
