  Try disabling the hybrid Windows 8 start - you can do the following.

  Right-click in the battery icon in the taskbar and select Power Options - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

  In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close open windows and stop the laptop by right clicking on the icon from the Start Menu, select prompt (Admin) and click 'Yes' to the uac prompt.

  Type (or copy and paste) the following command (including spaces) and click Enter.

  Shutdown /s /t 0

  Start the laptop and let Windows take over completely for a few minutes before checking if it is now shut down properly in the Start Menu.

  If this has fixed the problem, it may be useful by turning the quick start back on - sometimes simply remove and re-create the file will solve the problem.

  Hi I have a big problem with my computer hp pavilion dv6-3143sa laptop.

  I put it in a store and they told me it was a card mother/cpu problem and they could not source of parts. I managed to get the parts. I put the motherboard first, but did not work. I then added the cpu and put on thermal paste, but still did not work.

  My laptop will continue to power on but I always get a black screen and a blinking light on the caps lock button.

  Any help on this would be very welcome

• How to open the Pavilion g6-2210us laptop computer to install RAM?

  I have a HP Pavilion g6-2210us laptop PC running Windows 8.  He came with the bar of 1 to 4 GB memory and has a foul slot up to 4 GB of RAM.  I bought another 4 GB module and intended to install today, but I don't know how to open the bottom of the computer to install the RAM.

  I have a Compaq laptop that was new in July 2007 and he has a sign on the bottom that covers the compartment memory and a separate panel that covers the hard drive.  Each of these panels can be removed by loosening a few screws and pulling the top of the Panel.

  But with this new HP Pavillion-2210us g6, I see a big sign which applies to sites of memory and hard drive.  And there is only one screw.  Everything simply loosen this screw does not allow the Panel to be raised.  So I suspect the slides Panel stop someway.   Can someone explain how the Panel is removed?

  See the computer section of major components for the right part number and run the part number on ebay. You can also search on ebay for "dv6 backlit keyboard. Backlit keyboards there only for two sets or more.

  BTW: as a linux user, I highly recommend to create a backup, the recovery discs before you do something like that.

  I recently bought a HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p107nz and decided to do an SSD upgrade. Also bought the BX100 Crucial 250 GB, but the computer does not recognize it. I see no solution in short time, once I've tried everything, and the worst thing is, after all, what I tried and time losted in the present, to see that another brand of SSD works fine without problems.  Last night, tried my Crucial SSD in my HP Envy 23-n200np Beats all-in-One special edition, which still had a HARD drive, and everything worked well also.  Decided to do the upgrade for the Crucial SSD, and just ordered another Samsung SSD 850 Evo for my HP laptop. I want to thank very you much, really. Even without visible results (because it's a particular problem) you helped a lot, and I learned new things. Thank you very much a companion. God bless you!

  The blink code indicates a problem with your memory sticks, so the first thing I would say is to remove and replace the two modules and see if that fixes the problem.

  The procedure for withdrawal of these modules is detailed from Page 64 of your & Maintenance Guide.

• HP Pavilion ZV5000: mechanical problem laptop on my Pavilion - the screen when the lifting will not stay up by itself.

  When you lift the screen on my HP Pavilion ZV5000 laptop, is no longer stand on its own.  It used to be very tight and stand on its own.  I was wondering if there is a way to fix the clamp again.  I don't see any way to adapt it.  Need help!

  As it is an older model, it is not very likely that spare parts are more readily available, but I still think you might find this operating manual.

  Page 146 of 272 in the manual, you will find instructions on how to replace the entire screen. If you use that you can find a way to adjust the hinges to make what you need. Just be careful, because as I mentioned before, if something is broken, pieces will probably not an option, although, if necessary, you can try the parts store.
