  I bought this model HP Desktop HP Pavilion P6 - 2317c sometimes, back and it came pre-loaded with Windows 8.0.  I upgraded successfully to Win 8.1.  Since the free update to win 10 was announced, I waited for some instructions for the upgrade I had for my laptop.  Do not get everything up to now, I sent a question to Microsoft as to why.  They said that this version of Windows is not eligible for the upgrade.  Can you tell me why? and what was wrong with the 8.0 Win that came preloaded and was one of the reasons I chose this model to replace my Win XP based PC.  Please order this upgrade to detangle with Microsoft.

  I never cease to be amazed by the amount of misinformation that MS representatives give people on Win10!

  Rumors started about Win8 NOT be eligibile for the Win10 upgrade because people could not do it from Windows Update. But later, MS released information on the upgrade paths, and he showed be extensible Win8 to Win10 using Win10 media.  So what rep MS told you that he was not eligible for Win8 doesn't even know their own products!

  Yes the DV6000 by DV6499 series with AMD processor is not able to support an SSD. The storage controller uses a SATA interface, but it is 'false' SATA running on a legacy IDE bus. No ahci, which is necessary for the operation of the SSD. That's why we put Windows XP on them without any special driver tips during installation.

• HP Pavilion p7 - 1027c: do I need a cooling fan upgrade?

  So I'm going to buy a new graphics card, the Geforce GTX 750 ti and a new power supply 430 Watt. Given that my cooling fan computer stocks is built for my computer which runs on 250 watts with integrated graphics, simply to cool my new card and power supply? Or I have to buy a new cooling fan? If I have to buy a new cooling fan, please give me a suggestion for one that fits my needs at the lowest possible cost.

  There is no magic formula to decide if you need more air.   But here are some thoughts:

  1. not hot or the high unity now?   We you actuallly measured the temp or are you just guessing?

  2. most of the more recent scorecards have cooling fans on board to manage the GPU.

  3. the upgrade a fan with a better fan will supply minimal additional coling...

  (Regardless of what adds it to say about the new fan...)

  So what to do if you need a cooling more...  A few ideas:

  1. get a greater power than you have planned...  If it is running at well less tha it's capacity, it will produce less heat.

  2. download power supply with double oversized fans.  These fans will draw birds from inside the case to cool the power supply and send

  out of the case.

  3. ADD THE FANS.  Some cases have not used to install a fan.  If this isn't the case, you have options.  If you're handy it is not difficult to

  the case mod to accept another fan or two.  Not interested?  You can buy kits to assemble the 2-3 80 mm fans - 90 mm

  together and installed in a slot...  This can be very useful if your video card IS causing excessive heat.  You can

  install the fans just beside the video card to ensure the direct cooling.

  That being said...  I want to first make sure your upgrade is actually to create too much heat.   It has most of the manufacturers to produce products of course there will run cool and effective.  I install the card and check the temperature before proceeding to additional surgery.

  Some might tell me please how to open the case, so I can move on to an SSD?

  I removed all the screws on the backcover, even those covered near the hinges of the screen.

  I managed to reach the top cover (keyboard), but got stuck on the left side, there where the USB connectors RJ45 etc are. Don't just move.

  So, anyone have any idea what I need to do? Maybe one of you you have a link to the service manual? Perhaps?

  Would be great and don't forget, I'll be very thanksful for an answer.

• HP Pavilion g7-2200sa Notebook: disassembled and cleaned cooling fan but still does not

  Hi guys,.

  A few days ago my cooling fan packed in and my laptop closed indicating a 90 b cooling fan error.

  I have disassembled the laptop, removed the fan and clean all the dust from the fan and the exhaust gas (there was a good amount in there, the exhaust seemed quite blocked upward).

  Him having moved up the cooling fan still does not spin. What should I do next? I am happy to buy and adapt a new fan but wanted to be sure that would solve the problem?

• Pavilion dv6 3100: unable to start pavilion dv6 3100 again clone Samsung ssd 850 evo

  Im trying to upgrade the HDD to the SSD.  Tried a Samsung ssd - 850 EVO 500 GB after cloning, using Samsung data migration software.  However, Windows will not start since the new cloned ssd.  I get a black sreen showing, "windows does not have start message and all... and shows--

  Samsung Wizard is not able to find data on the ssd.  I looked up and gathered a lot of information and did everything I could.  Disk Manager recognizes the device when connected via USB (for cloning).  Device Manager displays the storage as -«IDE...» SATA/AHCI controller... ».   I enabled AHCI in the regedit - the HKEY_LOCAL... Msahci, IastorV, etc.  I also updated all the possible drivers and firmware and BIOS (f29).  Yet once the ssd is connected and placed in the drive Bay, Windows just would not start.

  I'm an amateur, pretendng to be an "expert"!

  I have treid sfc/scannow - did not work.  Not sure it'll work, I was not ready to move to another

  $50 on Acronis software cloning.  So, in the end, I opted for a clean install of windows7 operating system, using my own system recovery disks that I created previously.

  Every thing looks and works perfectly.  Samsung magician is able to detect the ssd by his real name (and not as ASMT 2115) and also shows that the AHCI is enabled. The time spent was worthwhile.

  Looks good for the budget, but choose the unlocked version of the 3770, which means the 3770K version, because it can more easily be overclocked. It saves money and offers more flexibility for the future.

• Pavilion m8517c does not start

  It is a PC almost 3 years with Vista self powered down, and since then it goes off all by rebooting with no error message. I got the data from the hard drive with an external enclosure and that it appears in the start menu, so the disk is OK. I also replaced the power supply and it still does the same thing. Inside was a lot of dust in it and who has been properly cleaned. All fans work but the CPU fan starts a few seconds of running in the restart. That makes it sound like it is overheating. It runs for about 30 to 45 seconds before it turns off.  I think to replace the radiator and fan cpu then but the fan does not have a strange noise seems to work smoothly. No changes were made recently to the computer. The computer has always generated since the UPS APC battery backup. Any help would be appreciated.

  This computer was done with a Coolermaster heatsink which was defective. It was a stuck on the bracket on the rear face of the MB. I bought a Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus to repair, hoping that the screws would be in line with the old withholding support. They do not have, so I had to pull on the MB and remove the holder and replace it with a new one. When I tryied to start I got I got message that did not have the CPU fan. I went and bought another one and got the same result. For some reason any computer don't like fans 120 mm CPU for this heater. I stuck the old 80mm fan on with 2 trombones and the PC worked fine for a week. Anyone know what the problem is with the 120mm cpu fans?

  Open the PC and look under the lower optical Bay.  You might be able to adapt a 2.5 drive "to this place, but this could be a problem.

  Otherwise, you can use the hard drive with adapters cage or lower optical Bay it is open also the use of adapters.

  Once you have the battery removed, there is a screw to see philips you have to remove.  The screw keeps the cover of service in place. Remove it and the lid comes off pretty easily.

  I burned a CD with the hardware HP Vision Diagnostic and I run the pleasure of tests and they all passes. During these tests, the pleasure seem to achieve the right speed in the progress of the test.

  I noticed this strange thing: when I bought the PC I immediately activated in the bios the use of VT to use hardeware virtualization with VMWare player. Yesterday, I found this setting changed and disabled and it's very strange because I did not change the values in the bios.

  What can I do? The noise of the fans at full speed is impressive, that I can't work on these conditions!

  Hello

  There are not many fans rated at 4 000 rpm. With this type of fan RPM coupled with your observation that VT missing then your PC seems to have a problem.

  Maybe it's time to contact the HP Support.
