HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 with SSD

Hi I have a Sleekbook and I tried to change the hard drive for an SSD in Windows 8. Is this possible? I noticed that the bios is enough locked so there is no AHCI setting.

An SSD will work a good read / write speeds? or should I consider anything else?

Thank you

Craig

This problem is solved. It's the crucial SSD. I replaced it with a brand different and who has good work. Crucial have now released a fix... typical.

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 with the following product information,

Product name: HP Pavillion Sleekbook PC 15

    Product number: C6K58EA

Will it be possible for me to upgrade my hard drive with an SSD? If so, what are the limits of the SSD that I can use?

    Thanks in advance,

    ISURU.

Yes. You can upgrade the hard drive to a mobile (laptop) SSD. The SSD must conform to the following specifications.

Hard disk, without illustration material, Kit (includes hard drive support and support)
screws, cable and 2 bumpers) HP p/n 701945-001

If your laptop is also a present SSD 32 GB mSATA, he can line be used as a disk cache via the software Intel IRST.

The disadvantage is that it is that it will violate the guarantee that the hard drive is not known by HP to be part replaceable enduser. Upgrading a laptop of this type implies a disassembly.

  • HP Pavillion DV6700: Is my HP Pavilion DV6700 Compatible with SSD?

I would like to know if my HP laptop is compatible with SSDS. An Internet search turns postings that say that it is possible and other thay say my PC is not compatible with SSDS.

Here is some info on my installation.

My PC is a HP Pavilion DV6700 CTO Entertainment Notebook
    I am running Windows 7
The PC came with Windows Vista

The BIOS is Hewlett - Packard l58 2008-06-16
The processor is Intel Core Duo CPU T7500 to 2.20 GHz, 2201 Mhz, 2 carrots, 2 logical processors

The new SSD is a Samsung SSD of 850 EVO.

    (1) my PC is compatible with SSDS?

    (2) are there updates the BIOS or the settings of the software that I need to know?

    Thanks for any advice.

Yes, it is a fully native SATA (ahci) system and an SSD works perfectly. With Windows 7 operating system will know it is a SSD and activate the TRIM and other optimizations to the SSD. It will be a version SATA slower that curent models but you still benefit greatly from an SSD. You must update the BIOS on this model, but not because of the SSD. There isn't quite enough important updates BIOS for this model which correct some problems of initial material as the fan operation and resume the suspension.

    1. the list of SSD compatibility?

    3. is there a guide on how to open the laptop?

    4. it will affect my warranty?

    Thanks and receive a response.

    Here is the Manual:

    Manual

Replacement hard drive is on Page 51. The good news is Yes, you can install the Samsung 840 Evo. It is the one I would recommend actually. There is no list because fundamentally, the laptop is compatible with any 2.5 inches wide 7 or 9.5 mm thick SSD or HDD.

The bad news is to replace the average hard drive almost complete disassembly of the laptop. Access to the bottom door exposes that RAM, no hard drive. And Yes, if you're wrong in the process that HP will stand behind the warranty.

  • the upgrade of my hard drive on my pavilion dv7 4280us.with SSD

Upgrade to ssd drive using my recovery disc to install windows 7 it to load any disc 5 restarts to the start SCREEN of the HP LOGO screen and it doesn't recognize the OCZ VERTEX 4 DRIVE I install.

My PC IS Pavilion dv7 4280us.

    Hello:

At less than your SSD is the same size or larger than the mechanical drive, that you have replaced, the recovery disks will more than likely working.

An alternative to the installation of W7 (only if you can read the full product key 25 character), is to do this:

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b104s: Sleekbook HP 15 - Touchpad Synaptics with Windows 10

    Hi all!

I will try to be as brief as possible.

Yesterday, I upgraded from 8.1 to win to win 10 on my Hp Pavilion Sleekbook 15; everything seems to work pretty well, except for the Synaptics touchpad.

First Win10 start I notice scrolling is reversed (Mac style) and Synaptics touchpad icon had disappeared from the status bar. Not a big deal: I go in settings and as usual, disable "reverse scrolling" and activate the icon back to the status bar.

It works like a charm, and I think I've sorted it.

However, after reboot, the icon disappeared again from the Board and my touchpad is reversed again. For how I try, it always comes back to the defaults after restarting.

Enable/disable the touchpad, unistalling and re - install the updated drivers do not resolve the issue.

So I open regedit, to try to change channels manually.

The string 'TrayIcon' was easy to find: value passed under '0' to '1' and the icon magically appears and always remains in the status bar. Inverted AX drives me crazy.

I couldn't find any string on the inverted scrolling, and the only way to change it is manually whenever I restart my laptop. Can anyone help with this?

I think that the only ways to solve this problem would be to replace the string correspondent in regedit (to keep uninverted for, as with the icon in the status bar) or change something to make these changes saved after reboot.

Any help is appreciated! Thank you very much!

    Quick update of people.

Thanks for the link I temporary solved the problem! I got my driver for the touchpad, version 19 to 18.

Now the settings remain saved after restarting too.

Thank you all! If all goes well they'll fix with the next update.

  • HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15: I changed my hard drive (HP Pavilion), how can I get all features associated HP I used to have?

    (Pavilion product number: D3D66EA-#UUW)

I had to change it and, of course, to reinstall my windows 8.1 (I have the installation DVD)

Everything works fine with windows, my problem is that the I ve lost all my HP related software and features.

At the start, he says just something on the motherboard and then he hits me with a logo instead of the HP logo and stuff Windos... Everything seems to work twice as slow as it was before I had to change the HD? Both the HD: s had the same spesifications.

Is there anyway I could get the default HP-software and features on my new hard drive?

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

You said that you have restored your PC using a DVD, but HP recover media consists of a SET of DVD, not a single DVD - so I have to assume that it was NOT a support of HP recovery.

Ordinarily, I advise to use HP recovery media to restore your PC to its original state. That would erase the entire disk, format the drive and install the operating system, drivers and utilities HP.

Unfortunately, there is no support of HP recovery related to HP for your PC Product Page. This could be an oversight by HP, or it could also mean that HP stock is no longer the recovery media for your PC. They store any long recovery media for older PCs.

You can try to contact the HP customer directly, using the links below, to see if you can order them if:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!

If HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you should check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

  • HPE-495 desktop - HARD drive is u/s, please help to rebuild with SSDS

    Hi all

[[2 TB Hitachi SATA 3.0 GB/s] HARD drive GL8E]. The current failed HARD drive is connected to the sata1 and there is a spare on the motherboard sata2. Spare power supplies available [CH 4 & ch 5]. Office was running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I would like to install a 840 EVO Samsung 250 GB SSD SATA 3 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1 and a second [still undecided 2 TB Western Digital SATA 3] as data drive.

These discs are backaward compatible with the existing architecture of SATA - y at - it all isuues with this proposal, would I need to make changes to the BIOS, other than this initial boot off dvd player to install the new windows on the ssd drive?

    Thank you very much.

If you replace the current HARD drive with SSD in SATA1, new in SATA2 HARD drive and let the CD/DVD in SATA3 on your HP Pavilion Elite HPE-495uk desktop, your computer should boot the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit DVD into the CD/DVD drive. This assumes that the disks are new with absolutely no data on them. You may need to, press the "ESC" key or the "F # ' suitable for your computer, select the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • HP Pavilion Sleekbook PC 14: Recovery of Windows 8: PC in a reboot cycle?

Laptop model: HP Pavilion Sleekbook PC 14
    Product number: C7D58PA #AKL
    The system board ID: 18F9
    BIOS version: F 18
    Editor BIOS: Insyde

    64-bit Windows 8 (I think, unless he updated to 8.1 I don't know)

No drive CD or DVD (Ultrabook).

It is a laptop from a friend. At one point, he pointed out that it shows just a black screen with the mouse cursor after the start it (after loading Windows 8). He has no idea of what happened before that, I read a lot of online reports of people having problems after such a broken Microsoft updates for Windows 8 or 8.1.

Anyway, it goes well with the idea of "clean install", nothing needs to be backed up. Recovery media (USB key) was created at the time. I start the laptop with the recovery media and get to HP Recovery Manager. I select 'Factory Reset' which is supposed to erase the whole hard drive and restore the initial factory condition.

After some time (30-60 minutes, not sure), it has completed preparations, which I assume were re - create the recovery on the hard drive partition, etc. It is said the PC will start itself several times during the recovery process, and I should not meddle. Ok then.

After I let it continue, Notepad starts, HP logo and the circle of rotation. After a while, I see a glimpse of what appears to be an empty office of Windows and a window that says something like:

    HP laptop
    < date > < time > (e.g. 14/08/2015 11:15)
    Please wait...

(there is a button in there I think)

Which is available for a fraction of a second, but then the laptop restarts automatically just and this very fact time and time again, showing this dialog screen each time after you start HP logo. I waited about 8 hours, and it continued just do so that even, it seems that the recovery process is interrupted every time with a reboot. If this restart is due to a system error, where I can see the journal, IE. What is the error?

So, what to do next? I have reset defaults in case where (though I think that nothing has ever changed in any case) BIOS, no effect. I have not tried to update the BIOS, but even if I find a new/UEFI BIOS for this laptop, I would try rather than as a last resort, or after that I have the PC back on.

I also tried the other recovery options, lighter, ('System Recovery' and 'Reduced Image recovery') prior to "Factory Reset", but they have not yet further, I think.

In addition, I ran a full system check in the start menu (RAM and hard drive), everything was reported as fine.

Yet one thing that may or may not serious, in case there is a problem of Windows 8: since the PC HP is bought in Thailand, it has a cheaper, 'reduced' Windows 8 version. It's a play full version, but apparently a kind of 'reduced' version that Microsoft sells cheaper on some countries, such as the Thailand. I'm not entirely sure what the restrictions are, at least you can not change the language of Windows system after the initial selection of IIRC (when Windows 8 was executed first to complete installation preloaded, English was chosen as the language of the system).

I mention this only because I'm not sure if it causes certain restrictions on workarounds, such as the use of some other Windows 8/8.1 recovery media created on another PC or downloaded an ISO from Microsoft, or somesuch. I have already learned the hard way that not all editions of Windows seem to be created equal with regard to the options of recovery, being able to launch the etc SafeMode (at least this was the case with my Windows 7, a lot of instructions online for just would not work on it because they are expecting boot options that simply weren't there).

USB media recovery that I use is created initially, according to HP.

    Problem solved. Steps to follow:

    1. forget about HP recovery. Of course it does not work for me little matter how I pray, I went to come and clean up the entire hard drive of all partitions (I presume that the recovery partition went too).

    2. create the installation media Windows 8.1 with Microsoft http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media media creation tool

I created the USB media on a USB flash drive of 8 GB on another PC. It will work and install correctly on Windows 8 system, no need to install first 8.0 and then he move to 8.1.

3 boot from the installation media, install (I chose the option to not save or move anything old windows, after all he was not supposed to be any previous Windows installed) and a great success. I guess you have to download and install drivers from HP separately, perhaps,

In fact, I am now upgrading to Win10.
