HP Pavilion Slimline s3505f: HP Pavilion Slimline s3505f & COMPAQ Presario CQ5110F

Hello
I learned a lot from browsing these forums already, for that I thank you.
It seemed like the perfect place for my questions.
Due to the limits of my technical knowledge and the age of the components in question, I'm having a hard time finding Info for comparison for the task I have in mind.
Essentially what I would do, is make the best targeted computer audio I can with what I have on the spot.

Ideally, I would like to be able to use 2 monitors and use the second HD as slave for just load and run samples and VSTi, while programs are on the other hard drive.
Okay, so I have two desktop computers, each with a bit of a problem...

* COMPAQ Presario CQ5110F (2008ish)
Processor AMD Athlon X 2 7550 Dual Core 2.5 GHz = Socket: AM2 +.
Card mother = Narra5 M2N68 - THE Chipset: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 Socket: AM2 +.
Memory RAM = 4 GB RAM DDR2 DIMM PC2-6400 MB/s
= Video/graphic card nVidia GeForce 6150SE integrated graphics
Sound/Audio = Audio integrated Realtek ALC888S
Hard = 320 GB SATA 7200 RPM drive
CD/DVD Player = DVD +/-R / RW 16 X SuperMulti SATA drive
OS = Vista Edition Windows Home Premium SP1
Power = 300w
Case = Mid size 38cmHx17cmWx43cmL ATX

* HP Pavilion Slimline s3505f (2008ish)
Processor = Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 2.6 GHz Socket type: 775
Card mother = type of Irvine w/GeForce 7100/nForce 630i CHIPSET Socket: 775
Memory RAM = 3 GB PC2-6400 MB/s supports up to 4GB (2GB DDR2 DIMM)
Video/graphic = integrated with GeForce 7100 graphics
Sound/Audio = Audio integrated Realtek ALC888S
Hard = 640 GB SATA 7200 RPM drive
CD/DVD Drive = drive SuperMulti 16 X DVD +/-R/RW LightScribe SATA
Memory = 15-in-1 multimedia card reader card reader
OS = Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
Power = 160w
Case = Slimline 28cmHx11cmWx35cmL

Specific details: The Pavilion Slimline currently does not start any type of display, so I'm leaning towards a Mobo problem, but have not spent anytime understand? The Presario was a 'noise' the other day according to my wife, but doesn't have a car, I'm leaning towards a rattle HD or a fan?

I'm uncomfortable, disassembly, cleaning and reassembly of components.
I also agree with doing a clean OS install if it is meant to be of value, (where are these records?)
I would use Interface Audio USB Steinberg CI1 MixCraft 6 as my program main recording/editing.

Band in a box will also use.
I currently use these programs/interface with my Acer laptop but have thought of a room dedicated music computer and these computers are available.
If I've left out the relevant details, please let me know.
Thank you for your time and information in advance.
See you soon!

Hi there @HerbyGardener,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you meet a lot of problems. I'll be happy to help you.

I would like to start with load Presario noises.

Try the steps in reduction of heat inside the computer to avoid overheating

Computers may have a PCI Express x 16 type 1 cards added to have two monitors. You should be able to add a second drive, according to the free power cable.

The HP Pavilion Slimline do you hear the fans and HDD to start?

Is there a flashing light or sound? If so, what is the model?

Here is a document for the white screen.

Please keep me informed of the progress of things. If you need help, let me know and I will gladly make all that I can to help you.

Please let me know if that solves the problem by marking this post as "accept as a Solution.

    They need a good cleaning and had.
    The noise of the Presario is indeed the fan on the radiator, it's just old and tired. Who cannot be strong in a music room; new fan may not be too expensive.
    So I decided the Presario is my starting point.

    I would add the hard drive of the Slimline as slave; they have different connectors tho.

    (1) if I just unplug the V2000 CD reader (that has the straight plugs) and use them to connect the second hard drive will I just lost my CD player? It is very good.
    (2) what parameters of rider (if any) do I need to have on each disc? Do not see outside the car Slimlines.

    I looked closer 2 slots for RAM and noticed that beside them there seems to be 2 places in addition to the Board of Directors, unused with no present holders plastic.

    (3) is it possible to add more slots and double the RAM? I would get 8 + GB and a 64-bit system end by ;~)

    Neither office seems to have the ability to run 2 monitors as is. No problem 29 "should do for now.
    Can't see a way to take the card out of the Slimline wireless and put it in the Presario. Internet not immediately necessary, hard connection cable always an option.

    I understand that you are looking for a method adjust the laptop lid to be tighter. I'm happy to help you with this.

    As it is an older model, it is not very likely that spare parts are more readily available, but I still think you might find this operating manual.

Just be careful, because as I mentioned before, if something is broken, pieces will probably not an option, although, if necessary, you can try the parts store.

  • Pavilion x 360-13-a110dx: HP technical support will not fix a broken warranty screen

    Computer tech support rant:

    So I treat my electronics with care. For some strange reason, recently developed a crack on the touch screen of my combo of tablet or a laptop HP Pavilion 360. The thing is usable, and the slot is under the top layer there so no finger injury if I touch the screen. But he fixed it needs, so I filled in the online form to explain my problem to a solution of warranty. I was then told I can call to track and match an option repair or by e-mail. Very well, very well. No problem. I'll call. I can do things with the phone on speaker.

    An hour and 20 minutes later and three of call center foreign representatives who were not clear of the USA (meets one, one was a tech rep, and then he couldn't do the actual sending in and fix the situation so I went to a representative cost and repair to figure out how to fix it), and I'm mad on fire. First of all, all three repeat what I wrote and asked questions as if I'm lying to them, or did not know what I did wrong. We had the audacity to ask how do I close my laptop. Yes Ma'am, I slam it down as hard as I can and throw it against the wall to see what happens and make sure that it shuts down for the night. (I did say that, but may as well have.) I'm on my products.

    She said that it would cost $270 to fix. Wait, $270? She said because it was a screen problem, it costs money. I said that it is under warranty. Equipment is under warranty, no software apparently. But this isn't the software, it's a HARD to the device component. I can't just install and uninstall a touchscreen. I'm paying $270 plus delivery charges when I bought in May last for $350. If I pay that much for setting a screen, I may as well buy a new unit that is faster and more up-to-date.

    She said that it would increase it to a supervisor. They were not available after 18 pm, et. I said I work next week, leaving the House at 6:30 et and will not be home until after 18 pm, et. I said that I should call after 6 p.m., HE. I can't take the time during the day to discuss my PC because if this call took 1h20m, I don't have this time to a new job.

    Then, suddenly, they can call me after 18 pm, et. When they do it on Monday, if he is a foreigner, I'll ask an English person precise and clear language. I'm not trying to be racist, then falsely accuse me if you want, but when it comes to communication, and there is a problematic thick accent because English is not their native language in India or wherever they are, this is a serious matter. If I do not understand the words coming out of their mouth without having to constantly ask for something repeatedly or super attentive because if I'm not I can miss a word that misinterprets the whole sentence, which is good enough for me. I've been at both ends of the customer service, so talk to someone English * IS * critical, especially when the situation is bad. I want an American on this one.

    Either they fix it for free AND fix it on a quick as soon as POSSIBLE process (because frankly, I was insulted with how they treated me and the hold time every time to ask the same questions and made to be a perpetrator of my machine), or I am done with HP/Compaq products after 15 years of loyalty to them. Really, I don't expect even a call Monday from HP. I doubt that someone calls me.

    And for what it's worth, what computer HP from my ex-wife was a breach of the hinge, which was material. I might took pliers and broke on purpose. But they don't set any question. But a screen which has not been clearly cracked by me (trust me, I could take a hammer to it and make a spider web crack) are not treated and is not material? What is it? TouchWare a new term? If it is not material, I want to know what it is. And I don't like what the said guarantee, if you send a defective product that lasts not even eight months (if), you need to fix. I did take a hammer to my screen, I do not slam my PC or throw it against something, and it's in a protective case when I travel, and it is placed in a safe place when not in use. In fact, I barely use the touchscreen. But still I'm done feeling it is my fault and I have to pay $270?

    I would like to fix it myself with pieces on Amazon, but must completely disassemble the screen of the keyboard part part and it's a mess and not worth. I'm going to buy a new something and be done with it. But for a crack I did not cause - and if they were seen, they would know because the crack is below and not something that I can do on top - and say $270? Kiss my rear. Repair at our expense, or lose my business. And I shall not distribute for free, but when I'm insulted, and when I type my problem and give me the Spanish Inquisition, whenever I talk to someone, as if what I typed was a generic fraud, I'm deeply offended. I have another thing to do with 1h20m of my time on a Saturday than waste it with HP trying to solve their problem of product.

    Fifteen years of my first Compaq Presario several models of HP Pavilion of desktop computers and laptops. Six in total, I bought Windows me to XP to Vista to Windows 8 (and the free update 10).  Guess that's done now because HP has dropped the ball, unless they are equipped through a miracle.

    Well, long story short, the PC was fixed under warranty with a new screen and he was only gone for a week or two. Looks like new. They documented my case several times that fall overseas really left call center the ball bad. They did NOT follow the Protocol. Even if the American side did not guarantee that he would be a guarantee, they handled so much better than what it was initially.

    Basically, if you don't like the answer, and you know what people overseas, manipulation, find a way to talk to an American. They're going to get this done, and if the answer is not a good one, well, you know that it is legitimate at least since he saw rather than phone diagnosed.

    Hello Sean2,

    Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

    I understand that you are looking for Windows 7 drivers that will focus on the HP Pavilion 14. This model doesn't have a Windows 7 compatible driver unfortunately.  Right now, I have to think back to the computer in Windows 8.

    You can also try to fill all of your Windows updates. That might solve the problem wireless you are witnesses. Also if you are able to view the ID of the computer hardware, I can check if all compatible drivers exist.

    Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for bringing This problem on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • With the help of my outside of the United States Pavilion dv4

    I found very conflicting about whether or not I can use the AC adapter supplied with my Pavilion d4 to recharge my laptop outside the United States where power is 220 volts.  Many sources I found on the internet said, what you need is an adapter for the plug, but do not need anything to convert the power from 220 to 110.  HP FAQ say in one place "If you use a power adapter to work outside the United States, you can have problems charging the battery... "' Solution: H and Compaq power adapters are configured for World Wide specifications voltage and frequency." They don't require power conversion", but then in another section, he says:"laptop HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario computers sold the ship to the United States and Canada with adapters that are not designed for use with international power source. However, there are a variety of cards available in stores tha will allow the computer laptop adapters operate in different countries. "So which adapter should I... There are many different kinds, but when I try to know what kind I need... the answer always seems to be that I didn't really need one!  Help!  I would like to take my laptop with me... it's one of the main reasons I bought it. Thank you

    But yes, HP just to be careful.  But that the AC adapter is rated for 110-240 v, so it will be able to handle the power from the sale in Russia, make sure that you get this Type C plug adapter.

    I understand that you have downgraded your operating system Windows 8 for Windows 7 and are unable to find the drivers for your computer. Hello

    It does not start up, which means you must use different way to recover (cannot transfer because the machine is dead) files. First of all you must check the machine, why it does not start? Any error? If the associated HARD disk problem you can test the HDD using HDD self-test. HARD drive may be allowed or may be dead.

    (a) if ok and cannot fix the machine: you can pull, put it in an enclosure and it becomes an external HARD drive.

    (b) if nok: you may need a professional service to retrieve files for you.

    Hi all

    I'm looking for buy a new desktop HP, my Compaq presario, 5/6 year is very tired and needs a rest.

    My question is can I reorganize and adapt a new hard drive to it and perhaps speed up a bit, if possibal I would keep just to attach a slide scanner to, then とらんすふぁ the images to my new Pavilion 500-515na (when I get it).

    @RevJames

    On the page of support for your system: Compaq Presario CQ5231UK desktop PC it seems that it is supported for Windows Vista and Windows 7. There is no specific drivers for Windows XP.

    In this spirit, I would say that you look there: products HP - what happens if I do not see my operating system?

    If the device you are looking at using doesn't have drivers for Windows Vista or Windows 7, you may try and see if you can get it to work in compatibility mode. It may be an option.  Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7 - windows.microsoft.com

I know that the Sr1750nx and the Pavilion has 1310 have the same motherboard. I can make SR1750nx yet so maybe my original restore disk will work. I also reinstall an operating system, I bought on ebay, because the recovery disc are not recognized by the computert.

    Is it the motherboard?

    Here are the specifications of the desktop Compaq Presario SR1750NX and the HP Pavilion Media Center a1310n desktop. You are right in saying that both models use the same motherboard. When you replaced the motherboard, replacing out an a1310n and explains why you see what you're doing. The replacement card has very probably a model different name, product number, serial number, and software build ID then what is printed on your computer. You have 2 choices to fix this;

    (1) take or send the HP computer or a Center authorized service and the "Tattooed" computer with the right information, such as indicated in your case. "Tattoo" is the process of writing of HP/Compaq to the BIOS system information. This service can be a significant cost.

    (2) purchase HP a1310n recovery disks (5092-3066-Windows XP MCE SP2 recovery disc + Supplement 1 (61NAemMPC1/2)) of the third party provider ComputerSurgeons.com

    Please send Bravo

  • HP 16 gb Flash Drive does not

    I have a Compaq Presario CQ56-115dx and a HP 16 GB flash drive that will not work with the computer. The flash player works with my HP Pavilion laptop but not with the Compaq. I have a 4 gb HP flash drive that works with the computer very well, as well as some SanDisk ones. I don't think it's USB drivers because my other flash drives work with the computer very well. I really need to use the flash drive to back up information from the Compaq computer, so any help would be appreciated.

    Hi the BimmerGuy,

    Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

    It is strange that the flash drive working in a pc and not another. You mentioned a 4 GB drive has worked in your laptop and a few others, but not the 16 GB one.

    What were the capabilities of other flash drives that worked in your laptop?

    Have you tried the 16 GB drive in other ports on this computer?

    You have other problems with the USB ports on this computer?

    I t would be useful to have the OS version. Please read the following if you need help to find out who.
    Is the Version of Windows on my computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

    Despite what you mentioned on the other drives to work, he is never a bad idea to update the drivers. It is always possible that a strange compatibility issue. It could be something similar to the issue of standards when dealing with SD cards, although I have not found any information for flash drives. That's what I am referring on the SD devices.
